One Little Lie

As ever, I couldn’t do this without my trusty writing companions and good friends Lydia and Libby. Also, the two C’s – Carolyn and Caroline – I’ve had a great time getting to know you both over the past year and know we have made a lifelong friendship. The four of you make writing a less solitary job!
I’m very lucky to have great family and friends who continue to encourage and support my writing journey. Far too many to list, but a special shout-out to Celia, Pete, Stacey and Charlotte; Tracey and my god-daughter, Katie; J, San and Jess; Jo and Keeley; Nicci and James: Aldyth, Jen and David. The greatest support obviously comes from my little family, so the biggest thanks to: Doug – for your attempts to sort out my own space for me to write and for your words of encouragement. Danika – you’re always so proud of me, it makes my heart swell. I miss you, you’ve left me here with all these boys! But thank you, Josh, for making her happy. Louis – I’m so very proud of your achievements this past year, and thank you for still talking through plot issues with me. Nathaniel – this is going to be your year! Thanks for your gaming expertise (any mistakes in this novel are mine) and for trying to ensure I’m left in peace to write. Oh, and just to make it clear, this novel is in no way based on you or Louis … Thank you all for believing in me and encouraging me every day.
Many thanks to my book club girls: Charlotte, Izzy, Tara, Luisa and Laura, for allowing me to stay in the club despite not always reading the chosen book, and for being interested in, buying and recommending my novels! Your support means a lot to me. And my thanks to Lauraine (you are missed at book club!) and Russ, for answering questions about removing bodies from a crime scene and the like!
Bloggers play a huge role in spreading the word about novels and I’ve been very fortunate to have gained support from many established and professional bloggers. They are worth their weight in gold – thank you all. Special mention to Kaisha (The Writing Garnet), Anne (Random Things Through My Letterbox), Katherine (BibliomaniacUK), Jen (Jen Med’s Book Reviews), Vicki (Off-The-Shelf Books) and Jacob (Hooked From Page One) – but many more supported the blog tour for Bad Sister and were kind enough to review or offer a guest author spot on their blogs, so a massive thank you.
My thanks to Angela Killion, whose fantastic winning bid in a charity auction organised by Tracy Fenton (THE Book Club), meant she got to name a character in this book. Thank you for allowing me to use yours!
Getting messages from readers who have loved my books is one of the best things about being a writer. Thank you to everyone who has bought my previous books, read them and reviewed them. I read all the reviews I get and am very grateful for people taking the time to let me know their thoughts.
Thank you to my readers – from ones who’ve read my previous books to those who have picked this one up as their first. I hope you enjoy One Little Lie as much as I enjoyed writing it.
I never feel confident that I’ve thanked enough people – there will be some individuals I haven’t mentioned that I should have! Don’t worry – I’m sure I’ll remember by the time I come to write book four’s acknowledgements …
That, of course, might be a lie.
