"Sorry, sweetheart, who do you think told me about the secret hiding spot where mommy hides the special treats?"
Her mouth fell open. Again. "That little traitor," she said, trying desperately to suppress a smile but with the way Cole's eyes lit, forming little crinkles in the corners, she had a feeling he saw her lips twitch. "You told me you found it by accident."
Cole shrugged and able to keep a straight face better than she could, said, "Us bros have to stick together."
"Un-be-liev-able." She folded her arms across her chest, which, of course, drew his eyes. She snorted, grabbing a pillow, and hitting him over the head with it.
"Hey," he said, raising an arm to shield his head. "What was that for?"
"Eyes up here!" That made him laugh.
She went to throw the pillow down, but he stopped her. "Wait."
She gave him a quizzical look. "What?"
"Can you hit me again? I like the way your tits bounce when you swing your arm."
"Ugh! That's it. I'm clearly not loved in this household. Ratted out by my children and my husband apparently thinks all I am are a set of boobs. I'm leaving and going to live with Sissy."
She started crawling off the bed until she felt a hand grab her ankle, pulling her back. "Sorry, darlin', but I can't let you do that."
She flopped over on her back, arms flung wide. "Why not?"
"Well," he said, pulling at her ankle, tugging her closer and closer. "You officially gave me your heart forever today, and I refuse to give it back."
She picked up her head, looking down her body at him. "I did, didn't I."
"Yes, darlin'." He gave her a big grin. Sly bastard.
"Well, I guess I'm stuck with you then."
"I reckon so."
"So whatever am I to do with you?" He had successfully pulled her onto his lap, and she wrapped her arms around his neck.
All the playfulness vanished from his face. His eyes grew serious, his intense gaze, as always, grabbing her full attention. "Love me, Abby. Just love me."
"That I can do. Forever." And she sealed the promise with a kiss.
Authors Note
When I wrote my first book a year and a half ago, I knew not a soul in the fascinating book world. I took the plunge totally on my own. Now four books later, I have met some incredible people that mean the world to me, and I don't know what I would do without them. I can't list them all, this book would be the size of Gone With the Wind if I did, but I do want to thank a few key players.
JR, you have been with me almost from the beginning. You were the first one to reach out to me and for that, I will be eternally grateful. Your friendship and great advice are irreplaceable.
My girls of the TTT, us three amigos. Without your love and support, I would surely be adrift with no land in sight. You guys are my anchor. I love you both.
My betas, Nichole, Cicely, Melisa, and Lizzie, for all your help, unselfishly giving me a piece of your time and your honest critiques. I thank you.
And last but certainly NOT least, my readers. My words cannot express how much it means to me that you took the time to read my story. I wish I could thank each and every one of you personally. Please reach out to me on FB and say hi. I promise to respond. Facebook
