Miles shakes her hand, but I notice his eyes are glued to DJ. Though I have had the same reaction to him a time or two, I find it odd he hasn’t stopped staring. I notice Carrie fidgets a bit, I’m sure thinking Miles is annoyed she brought the baby and her next words confirm my suspicions.
“I’m sorry I had to bring him but being away from him for a month was too much. I have never left him for longer than a day or two.”
Miles finally comes back to reality and says, “It’s no problem. Really. What did you say his name is?”
“DJ.” almost as soon as she says ‘DJ’ Dexter walks in.
I am about to make introductions when he gasps and says, “You.”
Carrie looks up and whispers, “Oh my God. It’s you.” At once, I can see from the look in Miles eyes we have come to the same realization. Suddenly, Dexter is before us and his eyes are fixated on the baby.
“What did you say his name is?”
Carrie takes a visible swallow and whispers, “DJ.”
Dexter moves a bit closer and I move a bit back, feeling like I am interrupting a soft porn or something because the vibes these two are giving off…phew. I thought me and El were combustible.
“No. Say it. Tell me. What is his name.”
“Dexter Junior.”
