“Sure,” he said. After a brief pause, he added, “About last night...”

So much for that distraction I was looking for.

“I want to clear the air. I can’t concentrate until I do,” he said.

Guess I wasn’t the only one.

“I hope I wasn’t too forward. I don’t want to pressure you into anything.”

So that’s why he’d backed off so suddenly last night. I shook my head. “No. It was…good,” I said, not wanting to sound too desperate.

  ****

“I haven’t stopped thinking about you all day,” I admitted. Damn. Did that come off as desperate? I decided I didn’t care. I was going to go for what I wanted…what I needed more than becoming president.

I got up from my chair and walked over to stand in front of where Heather was sitting. I looked down at her. “I’m going to be completely honest with you. You’re smart and kind and…captivating.”

Heather stood up, and without a word, she wrapped her arms around my neck and kissed me. It was passionate and hit the spot better than anything Inganno’s could cook up. As we kissed, she undid a couple of the upper buttons of my shirt.

I returned in kind by unbuttoning her shirt completely, making her black lace bra visible. Okay. So I was a little overzealous. We continued to kiss, our tongues volleying back and forth from her mouth to mine. During this exchange, I pushed my luck. I needed to see what had been teasing me the last couple of days. I reached to Heather’s back under her shirt and unfastened her bra. She still had her shirt on, so I couldn’t see them, but this freed up her breasts enough for me to get my hands on them. My fingers grazed her hard nipples gently as we kissed.

After another minute, I thought she was stopping for air, but instead, she sat back down in her seat, running her hands down my shirt as she did so. When her hands reached where my shirt met my slacks, she started to undo my belt.

I immediately stopped her. “You don’t have to—” Or at least I tried.

“Shh,” she said as she got my belt completely unlatched and proceeded to unbutton my pants. She got the button free and slowly pulled my zipper down, exposing my black boxer shorts. She pulled my khakis and boxers down to my knees, exposing me to her. She gripped my manhood in her right hand, stroking me slowly.

Her hand moved from the base of me to the top with a firm grip. She repeated this as she cupped my balls with her left hand. I lost all vocal control apparently, because I groaned instinctually as she gripped me. I closed my eyes and got lost in her touch when all of the sudden, I was in her mouth.

  ****

I had the potential future leader of the free world in my mouth. I was in control of the most powerful man in the country, and I loved it. I loved the way he felt in my mouth, the way he tasted…and the way he reacted. I took him in as deep as I could.

As I slowly removed him from my mouth, I let my tongue slide along the length of the underside of his penis. I flicked my tongue along its head as Clark’s breathing became short and fast. I lowered myself to his balls, putting one completely in my mouth. He moaned with almost a laugh of disbelief. I moved on to the other one, and his moaning continued.

I then paused. As I looked up, Clark’s eyes opened and looked down at me, the look of desire in them matching mine. I removed my blouse and my bra to reveal my breasts. I went back to his cock, pushing him deeper into my throat than I thought I could.

I then did something I never had. I removed the length of him from my mouth, leaving the big guy’s little guy nice and wet. With my breasts in my hands, I placed them around Clark’s erection. I moved my breasts up and down his shaft as louder moans escaped him still. My breasts relinquished his cock, and I rubbed my right nipple against the tip of him, filling the groove of his tip as I swiped back and forth along him. His moaning stopped, and I looked up at him.

He was staring down at me with a twinkle in his eye. He bent down and hoisted me to my feet and then onto his desk.

  ****

I had her right where I wanted her. I took the opportunity her sitting on my desk afforded me. I kissed and nipped at her neck as my right hand slid up her skirt and past her thigh highs.

As my fingers brushed along the front of her panties, Heather gave a quiet moan of desire. That was all I needed. With that, I slid the panties down her legs. I released them from her left foot first.

As I went to liberate her other foot from the lace fabric, she grazed my cock with her free one.

This caused me to pause for only a second before I got back on track. I threw her panties to the chair behind me and knelt down in front of her. I reached up, gripping her skirt to hike it up. I then approached my target. Being delicate at first, I ran my tongue along her. I lingered on her most sensitive spot, flicking my tongue several times.

I couldn’t help but let loose as a result of her auditory feedback. Her moans drove me to intensify what I was doing. I sucked on her clit with vigor, and as one of her hands grasped some of my hair, my left index finger slid inside of her. Her moans stopped, but I could hear her breathing getting ragged. As I caressed her with my tongue while drawing her into my mouth, I moved my finger in and out of her in a rhythm.

After a minute, I couldn’t take the torture of such a tease anymore. I stood up and passionately kissed her. During the duel of our tongues, I slid myself inside of her where she was, still perched on my desk.

A moan escaped her into my mouth. She proceeded to wrap her legs around me as I thrust into her. We passionately grinded our bodies together, practically molding together. As I approached orgasm, Heather slowed down.

  ****

I wanted to be on top of him…now. I placed a hand on his chest, guiding him to sit down in the chair behind him. I hopped down from the desk and sat on top of him, inching his cock into me slowly.

He groaned as I started to rock on top of him. I bent down to kiss him, while my hands fumbled with his last shirt buttons. I yanked his shirt off of him and then went for a deeper kiss. My hands roamed his solid chest as we kissed.

He reached up and gently tugged my head back with a yank of my hair. His mouth searched my body, roaming down my jawline and neck to find my breasts. He sucked on my left nipple as one of his hands cupped my other breast. Even though I was on top, he was still slamming into me from underneath with almost desperation.

I had a feeling we were both ready. As his mouth moved to my right breast, I ran my tongue along his right ear and then moaned into it. At a deep groan from him, we swayed in time with each other faster and faster.

As our movement got more intense, he gripped my hips tensely. I felt him come inside me, the sensation throwing me over the edge. I bit my lip as my body clamped around his, tightening and quivering with its release. We hugged as our movements slowed down, and I practically collapsed onto him. He was still groaning, and I could feel him releasing the last of what he had into me. It sent a shiver up my spine, and I got goose bumps.

He turned his face up to mine and gave me a sensual, loving kiss. The way he kissed me gave me the feeling this wouldn’t be a one-time thing.

My heart pounded in my chest, and I kissed him back with passion. A girl could get used to having the big guy around.

  Chapter Seven

I sat in my plane, preparing to take off for Phoenix. As I waited for Heather to get back from a school function, I reflected on the last several days. There was a lot of mixing business with pleasure. There had even been mention of the mile high club. This was the most exciting time of my life professionally and personally. She had me prepared for everything I could expect with this debate…except what came next.

“Hey guy,” said Fred, addressing me as he always did, “the pilot said we have to get going if you wanna be there in time for that briefing from the debate moderator.”

I nodded and picked up my cell phone. We had been waiting for forty-five minutes. Heather hadn’t answered my handful of texts. I decided to call her before we took off. It went strai
ght to her voicemail. I guess her class thing ran over. “Let’s go,” I told Fred glumly.

Fred walked to the front of the plane to inform the pilot.

I wasn’t prepared to handle things by myself. I didn’t think this was only my story to tell, but there I was a few hours later. I was alone in a nicely furnished room but couldn’t relax though. Heather still hadn’t gotten back to me.

Fred burst through the door with a grimace on his face. “Guy, you need to turn on the TV.”

I turned it on. The pre-game coverage of the debate was running a story about me. What did Jake do now? He’d promised to lay low for a while.

  “She’s so hot,” Fred commented.

I looked over to him and rolled my eyes. “Aren’t you married?” I asked him.

“Yeah, guy,” Fred replied. “The old lady doesn’t mind if look but don’t touch.”

I couldn’t help rolling my eyes again as I turned back to the television screen when I heard my name.

“Yes, Ron. The story is that Senator Crosby apparently physically assaulted one of his campaign staffers in a rage upon learning the news that his ex-fiancée, Melanie Rosen, is suing him for alimony.”

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing, but what came next flabbergasted me—a picture of Heather with a black eye displayed on the screen for the whole world to see.

There was a knock on the door, and Fred poked his head out. He looked back in to me. “It’s time, guy. Good luck. We’ll get this sorted out when we get back to headquarters. Don’t worry, Clark.” Fred addressed me by my name for the first time in forever. He was legitimately concerned, and so was I.

How could I not worry? What was I going to say when it came up during the debate? There was obvious physical proof floating out there that Heather had been harmed. There would be no defending myself. I stood up in a daze.

I had to pull myself together and at least live to fight another day. There were still a couple of weeks between this debate and the election to figure things out. I just needed to keep it together. I walked out the door and down the hallway toward the stage.

Senator Tree was introduced first, applause ringing through the room as he walked out.

I barely heard my name over a chorus of boos. I walked out, ignoring the crowd, as they would be mandated by the moderator to be quiet once this thing commenced anyway.

Jim shook my hand. With a tight grip, he pulled me in closer to him. “Heather says hi,” he whispered to me.

My eyes lit up. I was paralyzed in shock.

“She’s really great, isn’t she?” Jim said as he kept shaking my hand and waving to the crowd. “Calling you gay and pointing us in the direction of your wild card brother was nice of her, but have you seen the news recently? Now that’s special. She’s really something else.” Jim released his grip on my hand. “You won’t be chopping down this tree.” He turned away to his podium with a shit-eating grin on his face.

I couldn’t believe it. Heather set me up from the beginning. I walked to my podium. I had to look like a deer in headlights. I just couldn’t help it, though. I’d been betrayed by the one person I’d come to count on.

“Senator Tree, Senator Crosby.” The moderator greeted us with a nod of his head. “Before we get started, I think we should clear the air. As you all probably know, Senator Crosby is being accused of battery to one Heather Swift. Senator, what do you have to say to these allegations?”

Jim piped up before I could. “I think it’s a shame,” he said. “We all get frustrated at times, but we have to be able to control ourselves…especially if we plan to run an entire nation.”

“I wasn’t addressing you, Senator Tree,” the moderator said. “Senator Crosby, do you have anything to add?”

I stared into the crowd for a second in stunned silence. “Yes,” I said. “This is honestly a big misunderstanding and will be sorted out after I speak with my attorney.” I gave the classic ‘end this discussion’ answer.

“Fair enough,” the moderator replied. “On to more political topics.”

  Chapter Eight

Nearly two weeks had passed since the dreaded debate. It was a valiant effort, but if I was being honest, I would have to say I did terrible. I was just too rattled. Following the debate, my poll numbers slumped below where I started.

Heather had tried to call me a handful of times since then, but I told my secretary I wasn’t taking any calls. I blocked her number on my cell so I didn’t have to deal with her. I guess she tried to talk to me face to face, but Fred wouldn’t permit her back into the office. I don’t think I could take looking into her deceitful eyes. I didn’t have time for distractions when I was doing damage control leading up to the election anyway. I’d barely managed to get my numbers back to where they were a month ago. Now though, barring something miraculous, it was time to come to terms with losing this election tomorrow.

My vice president, who would likely never be, knocked on my door and came in.

“Hey, Bruce,” I said. “Listen. I really appreciate all the running around you’ve been doing trying to make up the numbers.”

“No problem, Clark,” Bruce replied. “What else am I here for?” He smiled, but then his face was painted with a somber expression. “I know we’re pretty much down and out, and we need this like a hole in the head, but it sounds like there’s a surprise interview with Heather Swift on the news in a minute.”

“Damn it,” I said. “That Tree camp has really got some pull.”

  “Should we watch?” Bruce asked.

I answered selfishly. “I really don’t want to look at her. Feel free to put it on the TV out there.”

Bruce nodded understandingly. “No problem. I completely understand.” He got up and left my office.

From what I could see out the door, it looked like someone had already taken the liberty of turning on the news. I got up from my desk chair and shut the door. I didn’t want to see or hear her.

  ****

I was nervous, but this was something I had to do. It was my last chance to fix things, to make things right.

A producer came over and took me to a seat next to the news desk.

Ron Reddin, the famous news anchor, came sauntering over and plopped down in his anchor chair. He smiled at me and appeared to check me out from head to toe.

I gave him a distasteful look but focused on the task at hand.

A crewmember started counting down to my moment of truth. “In five, four, three, two…” He pointed to Ron.

“Welcome back. I’m here with Heather Swift, the woman accusing presidential nominee Senator Clark Crosby of battery. Let’s get straight to the point, shall we,” Ron said. “I’m told you’re here to clear the air, to give us the full true story about Senator Crosby.”

I nodded. “Let me start off by saying something before anyone thinks of turning off the channel—”

Ron cut me off. “Who would turn the dial with Ron Reddin on the screen?”

I rolled my eyes. “Good point,” I humored him. “Anyway, I first need to say that the accusations…are false!” I just had to blurt it out before I lost my courage.

  ****

I had my head down, trying to think of what I was going to say in my concession speech tomorrow night. All of a sudden, I heard cheering coming from the other room. I got up and opened my door. I stood against the frame as I heard the anchor on TV asking Heather if I ever hit her.

  Heather answered. “No.”

“Then why were we led to believe otherwise, Miss Swift?”

Heather took a deep breath. “Well, Ron, it was a story twisted by the Tree campaign. You see, I started out working for Senator Tree’s camp as part of my thesis for my master’s degree. Senator Tree’s vice presidential nominee Congressman Worthy is on the board of trustees at my university, so that’s how I got a chance to work with the campaign. The only problem was that Tree’s people used this against me. They asked me to infiltrate Senator Crosby’s campai
gn and give them any details that could help them. When I was hesitant, they threatened that there would be possible consequences at the university if I didn’t cooperate. Selfishly, I went along with it. For the longest time, I didn’t give them any details. Senator Crosby’s camp took me in with open arms and made me feel like I was a part of something special. After a while though, Tree’s people started pressuring me for a scoop.”

Heather looked down. “I floated the idea that maybe Senator Crosby was homosexual. It was the only thing I had. I noticed his fiancée only a couple of times, and they never really seemed happy together unless he was handing her a credit card.”

“So are you saying Crosby isn’t homosexual?” the anchor asked.

“I am saying that,” Heather answered.

“I have to ask one thing. How did you get the black eye?” the anchorman questioned her.

Heather swallowed thickly. “I did get the black eye from Senator Crosby, but only because I accidentally ran into his elbow in a doorway. It was totally innocent, and he…took care of me himself after that. When I mentioned this in a meeting I had with the Tree camp, they had me wash off my makeup so they could get a picture of my black eye. That was when I informed them that I heard Senator Crosby was getting sued for alimony…and I told about how odd I thought the Senator’s brother Jake was. They immediately got Jake on the first little thing he did wrong. They said they were going to save the rest of my information for the right moment. I felt horrible when the news broke about Jake…and just after Senator Crosby and I had gotten better acquainted earlier that evening.”

Heather suddenly jumped back in her seat.

“Get him out of here,” the anchor shouted, presumably to the security staff on hand.

Heather shook her head. “I knew this would mean trouble for me…which is why I lost this guy who was following me before coming here. He’s one of the Tree stooges.”

The anchor laughed. “Are there two more of them somewhere?”

Heather ignored his comment and continued her admission. “The day of the last debate, I had my weekly meeting with some of Tree’s people. They asked me to sign off on the release of the picture of me with the black eye. I protested. I told them I wanted out and that I had gotten to know Clark…Senator Crosby, and he was really a great guy, that I couldn’t do that to him. They threatened to ruin my professional career and force me to relinquish all credits toward my master’s degree. I panicked and signed the release. I figured I could get out of there and give Senator Crosby a heads up on our way to the debate, so he could be prepared to debunk the report. Unfortunately, Tree’s people forced me to stay in town and not go help Crosby with the debate, the same threats looming over my head. I cowardly obliged.”
