The agent grinned back at her with a knowing look. "No problem," she said, taking Brandy's card. "We get that all the time. At least he's got Sponge Bob for comfort. He'll be fine once we get under way."

  When she had her receipt she took her pack back from me and taking my arm nudged me toward the boarding ramp. I resisted and felt my face glowing bright red.

  “Damn it, Brandy. You’re a pain, you know that? A real freaking pain,” I muttered into her ear with barely controlled fury. I busied myself stuffing Tamborine's yellow pack inside my other pack.

  “Folks, you need to board right now,” the agent waved us up the ramp like she was shooing children out of her kitchen.

  “And I’m not your sweetie,” I snarled and wrenched my arm away from her. Brandy threw her head back with a victorious laugh as I stumbled against the loading ramp. In my haste I almost bumped into another uniformed crew member walking down toward us.

  “Johnny?” A familiar voice stopped me short and I looked up.

  It took a moment for my brain to register. “Rainey?”

  “Johnny? What the heck are you doing here?”
