Ritual of the Lost Lamb

“If it makes you feel any better, I didn’t want to come here,” Nimby claims, smacking at his skeletal arm to prevent the Lich from talking. The halfling watches Vile crawl onto the edge of the scrying pool, but knows sudden movements can get him killed. “Somebody may want to get my dad away from that thing. Anyway, I’ll leave before Luke wakes up. Don’t want to cause any trouble. Congratulations on becoming a queen.”

“But we’re waiting for someone,” the Lich announces before raising his hand. The incoming fireball explodes against an invisible shield, but the force still knocks the thief down. “I would promise that everything will be explained, but the gypsy gets angry when I lie. We are too close to our goal to risk her making good on her threats.”

A crack of thunder bursts from above Nyx’s head and lightning dances along her arms. “I don’t know what angers me the most. That traitor being in my home, that undead monster being in my presence, or the fact that they congratulated me before my little sister. Not to mention there’s a possessed toy dipping its feet into my scrying pool like it’s a bathtub. Stop trying to calm me down, Cunningham, or I’ll put you to sleep. After everything I’ve gone through, I don’t want any more tricks and surprises. I demand that somebody explain what is going on here and why I shouldn’t start hurling spells at the people I don’t trust.”

“Because they’re waiting for me,” a familiar voice says from the churning pool. Queen Trinity pulls herself out of the water and sits between Luke’s sabers, the chaos elf wiping water from her cobalt skin. “Apparently, the champions are going to die horribly. That is unless I do something about it. So, do you have any guest rooms in this place?”
