“Where are you going?” she asked, feeling like he was headed somewhere.
“Uh, I was about to go get some orange juice and jump in the shower. I got things to do today.”
“I hope I’m not intruding.” She said, looking under the covers at her naked body. “I didn’t plan for this to happen.”
“Me either, but after you’d drank a whole bottle of wine by yourself, the relentless come-on’s became too much to turn down.” He said, thinking of her sexy body as she pranced around him in nothing but a purple bra and matching lace panties. The black pumps she kept on were just an added plus.
“Don’t blame this on me,” she grinned. “You asked me to stay.”
“I wasn’t going to let you leave in that condition.” He responded. “But, how many times did I close you out of my room only for you to come back?”
“If you wanted me to stay out, you would’ve locked the door.”
“And be rude,” he teased as he got out of bed. Angel saw that as her cue to be leaving, but she wasn’t done yet.
“What about another round before I go?” She stood up as the cover fell gracefully around her ankles, exposing her sexy, thick framed body.
Zay was tempted, but resisted. “What’s with the come-on’s?”
“You gotta know how much I’ve missed you. I mean, look at you.” She said, admiring his chiseled frame and long dreads. His boxer briefs sagged a little showing off his tight abs and waistline. His dick was now powerful with a controlled force behind it and his tongue spoke a serious language that enticed her to never want to leave. She wanted him back and it was not a secret.
“You have to give me some time, Angel.” He said, talking to her nice, round perky breasts. He couldn’t even look in her face, he was so hypnotized. “It’s too soon for me to be making any decisions concerning you. Plus, there is another woman. I’ve said that already.”
“Oh her,” Angel scowled not at all feeling threatened. “I’m going to give you all the time you need.” She said with a seductive smile, walking toward the master bathroom. Her naked body was looking good as fuck as Zay’s head leaned to the side like he was getting a better view of her nice, fat ass. She looked back at him. “I’m moving back to Atlanta.”
“I didn’t know you had left.” He said, realizing that after he left her standing there with her fiancé that day that he never saw her again until she showed up on his doorstep.
“I moved to Hawaii after that. My fiancé was being stationed there.”
“It’s still strange hearing you say fiancé. Did you ever marry the nigga?”
“I didn’t. Apparently, in Hawaii the women are more relentless than me. For six years, that nigga dogged my ass. Guess you can call that karma, huh?”
“I wouldn’t exactly call it that. It seemed to have been a different situation when it came down to us; especially if he had been gone for two years.” Zay shook his head. “This shit is crazy.”
“We can get past it, though.” Angel called out as she bounced back around and headed into the master bathroom. She felt like he should’ve still had mad feelings for her, regardless of how things turned out. He definitely wasn’t holding back any of his love as he rocked her world. Without a doubt, she still loved him.
Zay’s phone buzzed, alerting him of a text message. He picked it up to see that it was a message from Olivia.
I woke up with thoughts of you. Guess we’ll talk about my visit with Mark a little later. I also guess I’ll be calling Felisha today. Wish me luck and pray that I can keep my hands to myself. O’
Zay grinned then responded back.
Keep your hands to yourself, please. Hit me up later.
With that, he looked toward the master bathroom, hearing the shower water cut on with thoughts of Angel’s last words.
We can get past it, though.
“I’m not sure what I can get past these days.” He responded in a low tone as he headed toward the kitchen to get him some O.J. and clear his thoughts. Dealing with women like Olivia and Angel was certainly no ride in the park. He then smiled thinking… Well, some rides were.
__________
Olivia sat on the edge of the bed. She was feeling pretty good after a night with her husband. He’d done things that she never imagined he’d ever do. The way he maneuvered his tongue and caressed her body, was like he wasn’t new to this.
How could you learn skills like that over night? She pondered.
Even though the sex was mind blowing, it still was too much for a man that had only fucked her five times doggy style in eight years. She shook her head, trying to get it out of her thoughts. Her pussy craved for him, but now she was mad that it wanted him so bad. Then thoughts of Felisha surfaced in her mind. Picking up her phone was the main reason she held it, but something in her still made her text Zay first.
Fuck it, she thought. “I may as well get this shit over with.” She called Felisha’s number while taking in a deep breath and saying a silent prayer. It would take everything she had for this conversation to go smoothly. After the fourth ring, Felisha finally answered.
“Hello.”
Olivia cringed at the sound of her raspy soft voice. Man, this is harder than I thought.
“Helloooo,” Felisha said again.
“Hey,” Olivia spoke.
Felisha sat quiet for a minute, hearing her best friend’s voice. It wasn’t until that moment that she felt bad as hell. She didn’t have to feel bad for her wrong deeds, because Olivia had disappeared off the face of the earth. In Felisha’s mind, it was like problem solved, but now she had to face the music. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a tune that she wanted to hear being that it made her so nervous.
“Hey,” she finally spoke back. “How are you?”
“I’m okay, considering.” Olivia responded.
“I understand,” Felisha said. The truth was that in some sick sense, Felisha loved Olivia like a sister. However, she was also very jealous of her happiness and always wished to be her. “I’m sorry, O’.”
Olivia listened to her apology, but didn’t know what to say. This woman had slept with her husband. The woman was also her best friend since they were yay high.
“O’, you hear me?” Felisha asked, getting teary eyed as she waited for a response. She couldn’t believe that she had stayed so hooked on Mark for all of those years for him to make it plain and clear that regardless of the outcome, he couldn’t be with her. It made her re-evaluate a friendship that should’ve meant more to her than some dick. “O,” she called out again, wiping her eyes.
“I’m here,” Olivia said. She couldn’t talk because of the lump in her throat. Felisha had hurt her beyond repair. She did something that could potentially end their friendship for good.
“Is that tee-tee?” Lil Romeo questioned in the background. Olivia smiled at just the sound of his voice.
“Hold on, let mommy talk to tee-tee first,” Felisha said. “He’s missed you.”
“I’ve missed him, too.” Olivia responded. “Uh, can we meet up? In the next hour would be great. I think we need to discuss some things face to face.”
Felisha was hesitant at first. Knowing that Olivia had already thrown a brick in her window and had burned down their three-hundred thousand dollar house, she was definitely skeptical.
“Bring Lil Romeo. I would like to see him.”
“Okay,” Felisha said now feeling more at ease.
“We’ll meet at Stevie B’s,” she said knowing that Stevie B’s was she and Felisha’s favorite pizza place. They had very good pizza and arcadia games that Lil Romeo loved to play.
Felisha smiled a little. “We’ll be there.” And with that, they ended their call. Felisha figured that she may as well end whatever fantasy or obsession she had with Mark and try to salvage her relationship with her best friend. She knew that things would never be the same again, but she was willing to put forth some type of effort, depending on how Olivia felt. She looked at the time displayed on the alarm on her n
ightstand. It was eleven in the morning and by noon she would surely find out.
“Hey little one,” she called out to her son. “Let’s get ready to go see tee-tee.”
“Tee-teeeeee, yaaaaay!” He screamed out as he quickly made his way back in her room with his Jordan’s in his hands for her to put them on. “I miss my tee-tee.”
Felisha rubbed her hand across the top of his slick black hair. “I know you do, because Mommy does too,” she whispered while putting his shoes on.
Chapter 14
Olivia sat inside of Stevie B’s anxiously waiting for Felisha to show up. Her being late was not a surprise. She was never on time for anything. Olivia looked down at her Bulova diamond watch. She was now almost thirty minutes late. Olivia sipped on her pink lemonade and shook her head as she noticed the white BMW pull up in the parking lot.
It’s about time, Olivia thought. Seeing Felisha get out of the car almost made her sick to her stomach. Just thinking about what she’d done with her husband was foul and somehow Olivia was going to have to get past it. She had no choice if she wanted to continue to be in Lil Romeo’s life.
No sooner than the door of Stevie B’s could open… “Tee-teeeeee!” Lil Romeo called out as he ran over to greet her. He’d put the first genuine smile on her face since she’d been back home. She hugged him and kissed him around the neck, making him laugh. Without a doubt, they shared a very special bond. Felisha finally came lagging in behind and as usual she started.
“Hey, this boy got me running late. He waits good until we’re leaving out of the house to open up a snicker bar and got chocolate all over his shirt.”
“Emergency change,” Olivia cut in. She knew Felisha and Lil Romeo all too well.
“Yep, an emergency change,” Felisha stated. She leaned in at an attempt to give Olivia a hug, but was definitely brought back to reality when Olivia brushed it off while continuing to hug on Lil Romeo.
“Why you not call me?” Lil Romeo asked. “I missed you.”
“I missed you, too.” Olivia said. “But, tee-tee had to take care of some things. I’m sorry I didn’t call, I just had a lot on my plate.”
“Don’t bug your tee-tee too much,” Felisha cut in as she sat down.
Olivia picked up Lil Romeo and sat him down in the chair next to her then she sat down, looking across the table from her at Felisha.
“I’m glad you wanted us to meet,” Felisha said. “I am so sorry the way this thing has played out. I hate what I did and just pray that someday you can forgive me.”
“We’ll just have to see about that,” Olivia bluntly stated. “I’m sorry, but this is hard for me. I don’t even know what to say to you right now.”
“I know,” Felisha said then looked over at Lil Romeo. “Wanna go play the game while tee-tee and I talk?”
“Yes ma’am,” Lil Romeo excitedly said as he jumped down out of his seat.
Olivia smiled at him. “I ordered us pizza already. So you can play until it comes.”
“Okay,” he said taking the coins from Felisha and heading straight to where the arcade games were.
“So, what’s up? What’s the deal with you and my husband?” Olivia asked, clearly not there to be friendly.
“Nothing is up with me and Mark. I don’t know how things even went that far with us.”
“Me either,” Olivia cut in.
“I’d been going through some things, like I wasn’t in my right mind. Mark came over to put up Romeo’s bed and I don’t know what happened.” She started to cry a little, but quickly wiped her tears not wanting to draw any attention their way.
“That’s where it gets confusing for me. How in the hell did something like that just happen?”
“I don’t have any explanations. I honestly don’t. I don’t think neither one of us was in our right mind. Mark had already come in pre-occupied with thoughts and feelings that something wasn’t right with you.”
Olivia frowned. “What does that mean?”
“Well for starters, he came in looking tired and a bit frustrated. I told him that he could’ve waited, because I sensed something was wrong with him. He acted as if it was all good and said that he would put up the bed, anyway. Once we were in Romeo’s room he started questioning me about you.”
“Questioning you?” Olivia pondered, knowing that Mark hadn’t mentioned any of this to her.
“Yeah, he just straight up said that he had a gut a feeling that you were cheating on him. He even said that he had the right mind to have you tailed, because it was something up with you going to Atlanta on a regular.” She said, now feeling like she had to come up with her own version of events to make sure that she stayed in the clear.
Olivia’s thought process went into overdrive. “He never said anything to me about this.”
Felisha smacked her lips. “Do you think that he would’ve told you this? The man was thinking about having you tailed for God’s sake. Hell, he had me feeling some type of way about it since I’m practically the only person that knows about you and Zay fucking around.”
Olivia’s neck jerked a little, taken back at how the conversation was now headed in a different direction.
“Even though he didn’t go through with it, just the thought scared me shitless.” Felisha continued. “Without a doubt, I knew that you were going to Atlanta to party with Zoe for her birthday.”
“I sure did,” Olivia cut in like she was making a point.
“But, I also knew that you would be going to see Zay, too. Ain’t no way you could be that close to him and not meet up.” She said, wanting to still sound like Olivia’s bestie, but was also digging for information.
Olivia’s facial expression gave her away as she looked somewhat cut, causing Felisha to feel like she was now in control.
“Anyway, I told him that you’d never cheat on him. You know I would never give him any information like that.”
Olivia just sat there listening. She was at a loss of words for the moment as she sipped on her drink, trying to put the pieces together. Reading Felisha wasn’t as easy as it was in the beginning as she continued to explain her side of the story.
“Next thing you know, I’d started going in on my bad relationships with the no good men that I’ve dealt with while letting him know that he’s not like them and that you appreciate him. I convinced him that you would never do him like that, because you’ve seen what it’s like to not be able to settle down.” She said, speaking of herself. Wiping the tears from her eyes she reached over and softly touched the back of Olivia’s hand.
Olivia glanced up at her. Her eyes had started to tear up. Felisha was right. Mark had been a good man to her. She shouldn’t have ever gone outside of her marriage. “You shouldn’t have been so hard on yourself,” she spoke in a low tone, not realizing that she was now becoming the weakest link.
“Nevertheless, going into depth about my poor decisions led me into a downhill spiral. Next thing I know, I’m crying and feeling upset and Mark comes over to console me and it just happened. I don’t know where that came from, but it just happened.”
Olivia wiped her eyes. For the first time, she felt bad that they’d been put in that situation. Even though it never should’ve happened, she almost wanted to take the full blame for it.
“There was no love, there was no connection, and there was no desire for it to ever happen again. It was a moment; just a moment.” She sadly said, wiping more tears with the napkins that the waitress had brought over. “I am truly, truly sorry.”
Olivia sat quiet for the next five minutes, as did Felisha. The waitress had come over and sat the pizza down and neither of them moved or said anything. Olivia knew that she wasn’t going to accept Felisha’s apology, not that easily. The pain was still there and nothing could take that away, regardless of who was at fault.
Felisha sat there feeling like she should’ve won an Oscar for the performance that she’d just put on. The truth was that she loved Olivia and would do just about anything for he
r. Unfortunately, that didn’t stop her from wanting Mark. She wanted the life Olivia lived. She wanted at times, to be Olivia and even though she fought hard with those feelings, they’d still resurface.
“Tee-tee,” Lil Romeo nudged on her shirt causing Olivia to break the trance she was caught up in. “You didn’t tell me that the pizza was over here.”
“My bad boo,” Olivia said, discreetly wiping her tears. “Sit down and eat. You mom is about to leave for work and I’m gonna keep you for the rest of the day. We have a lot of catching up to do.”
Felisha took that as her cue and was more than happy to get the hell on. She’d started feeling mushy and she hated when that feeling came over her. “Yeah, Mommy is gonna get on outta here. Duty calls.” She said, getting up from her seat and walking around the table to kiss Lil Romeo on the lips.
“You gotta do the new design you showed me yesterday.” Lil Romeo said.
“When I do, I’ll take a picture and show you.”
“Okay, love you, mommy.” Lil Romeo said in the sweetest voice ever. He was just too grown for his age.
“Love you, too.” She said, and then passed by Olivia slightly rubbing her on the shoulder. “Just drop him off at the shop or the house. Call me first and I can tell you where I’ll be.”
Olivia never said a word. She just nodded her head like she understood.
__________
Twenty minutes later, Lil Romeo was finished eating his two slices of pizza and was now in the game room getting his last minutes of playtime in. Olivia just sat there and watched him. She enjoyed their conversations. He was too smart for his own good. He’d told her about Mark coming over and tucking him in, but he was sad that she didn’t come. It was a good thing that Mark at least mentioned that or her head would’ve really been all over the place. Felisha had said some things that made sense. Mark never went into full blown detail as to what happened and maybe he didn’t, because then he would’ve had to confess his part in plotting. She was appalled that he was actually thinking of spying on her.
