Ten Things I Learned from Watching Judge Judy
1. Dont lend money. Give it if you have it to give, but only under the condition the recipient never ask for it again.
2. Always have a written contract, even with family and friends.
3. Listen carefully.
4. Never cosign a loan.
5. Never open a joint checking account or get joint credit cards.
6. Don’t invite an unemployed love interest to move in just to “play house.”
7. Avoid conflict, especially physical.
8. Keep records: paper trail, e-mails, texts, phone messages, video.
9. Do not allow BB guns anywhere.
10. When in doubt, call the police.
RUPAUL’S CONFESSIONS
Confession Halloween
I’ve always held a grudge against Halloween. I never go out on Halloween or wear a costume because, besides all the drunk people giving me the creeps, it’s amateur night. My resentment stems from the hypocritical concept that it’s okay to dress up one day of the year, but not okay any other day of the year. So I’ve always chosen to protest by dressing up every day except that one. Listen, I know it’s ridiculous, but I can’t help it.
Confession Shirttails
I like to tuck my shirttails into my underwear to keep my shirt flat to my body. Hip-hugger men’s underwear works best because the band is much lower than the waistband of my slacks.
Confession Wearing a Tie
To keep my tie from moving around, I adhere the tie to my shirt with double-sided tape. I prefer to use toupee tape because it’s much stronger than regular double-sided tape. Who needs a bulky tie clip when you’ve got toupee tape?
Confession Driving
I take my shoes off while driving so as not to mark up the heels.

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
MATHU ANDERSEN
When I met Mathu back in 1990, I had no way of knowing the impact this beautiful Renaissance man would have on my life. I have cherished every moment of these twenty years that we’ve spent in dressing rooms and soundstages around the world. The lessons I have learned from him have broadened my aesthetic and made me who I am today. I’m crying tears of gratitude as I write this, because it still amazes me how blessed I am to know him. Every photograph, every hairdo, and every makeup look in this book was created by him. He, together with Zaldy, created the images that would propel me into the pop culture lexicon like no other drag queen had done before. His innate ability to deconstruct abstract concepts and magically transform them into art is nothing short of miraculous. He is my idol, my teacher, my friend.
ZALDY
Ninety-five percent of all the clothing you see in this book was designed by Zaldy, the most brilliant visionary I have ever worked with. For the past eighteen years, he has created my most extraordinary ensembles. I’ve worn many designers, but no one has ever turned me out the way he has. He understands my proportions, and he designs to enhance my frequency. His aesthetic is esoteric and avant-garde, yet his approach is timeless and classic. He knows the craft and he loves it. He’s taught me so much about color, texture, and style. I’m proud to call him my friend.
