“A little fun is never just that,” I offer her.

She leans in and licks my lips. “Hmmm, I’ve wanted to do that ever since I met you.”

  “Lick me?”

“Ever hear that saying, I licked it so it’s mine?”

“Sounds familiar,” I whisper my body giving into her and its own needs.

She leans back in and I’m motionless to her advances. She licks my lips again, and I groan. My hands meet the back of her arms and I flip positions with her. She’s against the wall, her arms wrapped under my arms and my lips are on hers. My awakened dick is grinding into her pelvis as my tongue seeks entry into her mouth. I groan once our tongues touch, then angle my head to deepen the kiss.

The elevator doors slide open and my senses react by pulling back from her suddenly. With hooded eyes, I watch her bite her bottom lip and smile shyly. She looks to the open elevator door out into the hallway. Neither of us move, as if to burst the bubble that we’re currently in. As neither of us make a move to exit, the doors close. I reach out and press our floor number again.

What kind of sorcery was that?

“Can’t we just ride the elevator up and down for a bit?” she asks coyly.

  I shake my head.

“What are you doing to me, you devil woman, you?” I shake my head slowly.

I finally move, with one step in front of the other, I lead us to our doors. I stop in front of her door and turn to her.

  “Good night, then.” I say.

She searches my eyes and frowns.

  “Good night?” She asks.

“Yes, no more wine, the hangover today was shitty,” I reply.

“It’s still early, you sure you don’t wanna watch something on the TV?” she asks twirling her hair between her fingers.

“I think it would be wise to not and call it a night.”

She sighs loudly and pulls out her key card.

“You are one tough cookie,” she opens her door and enters her room. Before closing her door, she peeks her head out, “You’re a great kisser by the way. Good night, Percy.”

I’m standing in front of her door for a moment before entering my own room. I remove my shoes, shirt, and grab my gray sweats from the corner chair to change into. I sit at the end of the bed and tug at my hair. I look up to the door that joins our rooms and shake my head.

Can I have just a little fun?

I’ve neglected this part of myself for so long, why can’t I just give into human nature just once?

I stand up and take the three steps in front of the door then place my hand on the doorknob. I shake my head and return to sitting on the foot of the bed.

You can do this. It’s a beautiful woman that is more than willing to get you in any way possible. You want her, you are just denying yourself because you think you don’t deserve happiness.

Mentally, I give myself a pep talk in hopes that my warring mind can just stop battling and go through with what I ultimately want. As much as I tried to fight it, I want her. The more that I’m around her, I want her. And she doesn’t make it easy to avoid her.

I stand up again and step in front of the door. My hand grips the doorknob, twists and I open the door, expecting hers to be closed. Instead, it’s wide open and she’s standing at her bedside brushing her hair. When she notices the door opening, she turns her head, freezes her motions and takes a deep breath.

  “Hey there, Perce,” she smiles.

I step over into her room and wordlessly pull the brush out of her hand, drop it to the floor, and grab her by the waist to pull her closer to me.

With a light “Oh,” popping from her lips, I bend my neck and capture her mouth. She melts into my arms and wraps her arms around my neck.

I allow her to take the lead and she turns us to the bed beside us, pushes me down onto my back as she crawls atop of me. She leans down, her hair draping beside our faces and our tongues tangle. My hands grip the side of her thighs and she lightly rolls her hips across my straining dick.

“I love a man in gray sweats,” she mumbles against my mouth before she pulls back and wraps her hair up in a knot, then returns to me.

My hands move from her thighs to the swells of her ass as her shorts don’t cover much in the position she’s in and I grab a handful of skin.

She leans up again and crosses her arms over her chest then lifts the hem of her shirt. Her breasts bounce out from the confines of the fabric and my mouth waters. I palm one of her breasts and lean up to bring her nipple into my mouth. She arches her back, pressing her breasts further into me and I groan in satisfaction as she grinds down on my dick with the crown peeking over my waistband.

  Fuck!

It’s not long before Bev’s hand reaches between us and she pulls down my sweats. She pulls her shorts to the side and rubs the length of my dick against her silky center.

  Fuck!

“I want you,” I growl against her breast.

She lifts off of me and pulls her shorts down, baring her bare pussy to me. It’s been awhile since I’ve had a naked woman in front of me and I’m pretty sure that this is the most fantastic moment that I’ve had in quite some time.

She bends and pulls a condom out of the bag beside her bed, holds it up with a smile and then returns to my lap. She sits down on my thighs while tearing open the condom. Once I’m suited up, she leans up on her knees with my dick in her hand and hovers over.

“Are you sure about this?” She asks one last time.

  “Very sure,” I nod.

My eyes travel down her body as my dick is at her entrance. She slowly sinks down on me and I enjoy every single second watching her pussy swallow me whole. A loud moan escapes my throat once she begins to move and my hands fly to her hips as her hand presses on my chest.

Her mouth is agape, her eyes never leave mine as she moves on top of me. She owns me in this moment, and my body is hers to do with as she pleases.

She moves up and down gracefully on top of me, until her body is shuddering. Once I know that she’s come, I don’t hold myself back anymore. I pull her off of me and onto her back. I situate myself between her legs and guide my dick to her center again. I thrust my hips like I’m racing against time. I feel a small tingling at the base of my spine, my throat goes dry and I pump erratically into her. All charisma and coordination is diminished as I seek my release.

Once we are both sated, I dispose of the condom and return to her bed.

  Now what?

  Chapter Fifty-Six

The early morning sunlight wakes me up with annoyance. I roll to my side, sit up on my elbow and I’m met with a soft body and long hair in my mouth. I open my eyes to the rise and fall of Bev’s bare breast and blink a few times.

I didn’t plan to fall asleep over here, but I didn’t want to be a complete asshole and leave immediately after we slept together last night. Instead, we fell asleep almost immediately and now here I am, naked in her bed with my dick hard at the closeness of a naked woman.

I lean back on my back with my arm behind my head and stare up at the ceiling. Bev’s breathing changes and she moves positions so she is on her side. I turn my head and her eyes open slowly and a smile forms.

“Morning,” she says, her voice husky from sleep.

  “Morning,” I return.

“What time is it?” She reaches across the small distance under the blanket and her fingertips graze my stomach causing me to jump slightly at the first touch.

“Not sure, it’s bright in here though, so I’m guessing it’s around eight.”

“You can tell that from the brightness in the room?” She laughs.

“No, just a guess.” I return my gaze to the ceiling.

“Last day of the expo and then back home tonight, right?” She asks, her hand slowly lowering as my chin dips to watch her as she disappears underneath the sheet.

“Yep,” I reply while she kisses a line down my body.

“Well, we better make the best of our time here, wouldn
’t you say?” she leans up and moves on top of me. I can feel the heat of her pussy hovering over me as she leans down and gently kisses me.

“I like being on top of you,” she smiles pulling back and sitting up straight.

  “You do?” I ask.

“It makes me feel in control, I like that I get to watch the expressions on your normally pensive face. I feel special that I’m getting to see you reach your ecstasy.”

“My ecstasy?” I ask, as she slides her pussy against my dick.

“You know, when you come.” she leans up on her knees and begins to scoot down my body.

“What cha doin’, Bev?” I ask her trying to reach for her.

“I’m taking a detour, don’t worry. The grand finale will end with your cock so far in me that you’re seeing colors,” she replies disappearing under the covers.

  Holy shit, she’s deliciously dirty.

I got showered and dressed in my own room, then Bev and I returned to the final day of the expo. Upon returning to the hotel room, we rolled around together in bed one last time before we checked out of the room. We technically could have stayed another night, but I needed to get back to work and resume my day to day. This little vacation was nice, as well as the company, but who am I kidding. I’m not the kind of guy that has an on-going relationship and this was all fun anyways.

I look over to her room while she zips up her bag on its side, turns it upright, and pulls it in the direction of my room.

“I’ve got everything ready on my end, how we looking over here?” she asks in the entryway.

“Just about done,” I look around the room and notice my toothbrush still in the bathroom.

“Having two rooms was a real waste, we could have saved the business points and stayed in one room,” she grins.

“So, it was your plan to take advantage of me this weekend?” I ask stuffing my toothbrush in its pouch and in the side pocket then we’re moving toward the door.

“Hey, you’re the one who kissed me first,” she protests as we walk down the hallway toward the elevator.

“Correction, you licked me.” I give her a pointed, yet playful look.

“I did, didn’t I?” her grin widens, and she puffs out her chest proudly. “Does that mean that you’re mine now?”

We step into the elevator and I say nothing, but my mind is reeling with thoughts of longing. I want it to mean that she’s mine and I’m hers, but that’s not something that I can do. At least it’s not something that I’m sure that I can do. I did take that leap to be with her this weekend, which is far more than I’ve done since the divorce. I look at that as progress, but would I be able to commit to more?

She nods and her expression shadows from my lack of response and we make our way to the parking garage, to my truck then make our way back home in silence.

Upon arriving at her home, I get out of the driver’s side and round the hood so I can open her door for her. I gently push her to the side of the cab and cage her between my arms.

“Thank you for an exceptional weekend, even if you did take advantage of me, I was a willing participant,” I say quietly before lowering my head to cover her lips with mine.

Pulling back, I offer her a smile then move to the truck bed to retrieve her suitcase.

“Any chance that I can get you to come inside for a nightcap?” she asks.

“While I would like to continue the dance that we’re doing, I think it’s best,” I say putting my hands in my back pockets and stepping back, “I think it’s best if we return to our corners and call this weekend what it was.”

“Yeah? And what would that be?” she quirks her eyebrow in question.

  “Fun,” I state.

“Right, fun,” she nods slowly as she repeats quietly.

My hand reaches out and she steps aside shaking her head. “Listen—” I begin, but she holds up her hand in protest.

“No, I know, I said we could just have a little fun. It’s okay, Percy. We didn’t promise one another anything more. We’ll resume back to the working relationship and… yeah,” she nods staring at the dirt of her driveway, her tone distant and void of emotion as she removes herself.

I feel like a complete ass, but we never said what we were doing was meant to be anything more. We’re attracted to one another, but there’s no way that I can just flip a switch and jump into a relationship or whatever this thing between us could be. I don’t have the time to make any promises to another person right now. I should be telling her this, but instead we stand facing one another in silence.

“Thank you for a fun and memorable weekend, I’ll see you around,” she moves past me, and I do nothing to stop her.

  Chapter Fifty-Seven

I spent the next five days in a row working. I even worked on my day off. When I wasn’t working, I sat at home with my hand itching to grab my phone and call Bev. I just wanted to hear her voice, to see her smile, and to feel her touch. I wanted it all, I’d even settle for one of those things.

  What is happening to me?

I need to deny myself of these wants and desires, because I don’t need another heartbreak in my life. I have to stay in my own lane and go on with my solitary life.

But should I continue to deny myself?

  Haven’t I punished myself enough?

I told her that I wanted to keep our relationship professional, despite the attraction, it’s what’s best.

  Right? Isn’t it?

“Percy? Hey man, Perce?” I hear a voice calling from behind me.

I blink and turn around to Noah’s questioning eyes.

“Yeah?” I reply with a spatula in my hand.

“I think that the burgers there are well done. Are you alright, man?” He asks his tone laced with concern.

“Yeah, I’m good. Just was deep in thought. Sorry about this.” I motion the grill.

“Nah, it’s okay. I was actually coming back here to let you know that Bev dipped out from being our contact for the meat vending,” he says.

I do my best to keep my composure, I want to react wildly and demand answers.

“Alright, who is the next contact?” I ask nonchalantly.

“She asked that one of the guys who straddles the line of territory for the county handle it. She felt that it would be too many lines blurring with her and I being related and shit,” he explains.

I have a feeling that excuse is complete bullshit, but I can’t very well divulge that likely the reasoning that she’s changing contacts on us is because of our hook up last weekend.

No. I will remain unfazed, but inside, I’m irritated.

Why? Why would she do that?

I look around the kitchen and see Ferny over in the corner washing dishes.

“Hey, Fern?” I begin. “I’ve got a phone call to make, think you can restart this ticket?”

He nods and wipes his hands dry, replaces me, observes the order and gets to work.

I’m in the back parking lot, leaning against my truck as I pull out my phone. My finger hovers over her contact.

What will I even say to her?

Is it dickish of me to believe that she’s switched contacts because of us?

What if the reasoning that she gave to Noah was a legit excuse?

  Fuck it!

I press her name on the screen and put the phone up to my ear.

“I was expecting to hear from you,” she says automatically.

“Were you now? And why was that?” I ask coyly momentarily forgetting why I was calling her.

“I didn’t do it because of you, well, not completely,” she answers.

  “Not completely?” I urge her.

“I didn’t switch out contacts with the bar, because of what happened between you and me in Hollybrooke.”

  “So, it’s purely coincidental?”

“Can we talk in person, not over the phone? I’m kind of in the middle of my work day.”

Seeing her would make it harder for me to keep my distance and keep th
e facade of not wanting her.

“I’m off of work at seven, meet me at The Neighborhood?” What the fuck am I saying?

“I’ll meet you out front, is that okay?” She asks.

“Sure. I’ll see you then,” I reply.

The rest of my shift goes by quickly and before I know it, my phone chimes with a text just as I’m hanging up my apron.

  Bev: I’m here

I don’t bother typing out a reply to her, but I exit out the back, get in my truck and then pull it around to the front of the bar. I pull up beside her and tap my horn quickly. She jumps at the noise and turns around with annoyance on her beautiful face until she realizes that it’s me.

She shakes her head as she walks up to the passenger side and opens the door.

“I was expecting you to come out of the bar,” she says buckling herself up.

“I park in the back, it would have looked stupid of me to walk out the front doors, only to walk around the building. Anyways, what was it that you couldn’t say over the phone earlier, that we needed to do this in person?” I ask getting right to it.

“No, ‘hey Bev, how’s it going? Straight to the chase, eh? You got somewhere to be, mister?” she asks playfully.

“I just don’t like to beat around the bush, that’s all,” I reply.

“Is there somewhere else that we can go to talk, I would rather not be sitting out in front of your work,”

“Noah isn’t there, if that’s what you’re so worried about, he won’t see nor care if you and I are out here talking,” I explain, knowing that’s the damn truth.

“Isn’t that what you were worried about? People seeing us together, getting involved with me?” she asks turning her body towards me.

“No,” I reply instantly. “I said that we should maintain a working relationship,” I clarify.

I pull out of the parking spot and pull in front of the diner a block away, kill the engine and step out of the car. Bev follows as we enter the diner and I head to a corner booth.

Madison, a friend of Deb’s places menus in front of us and leaves us be.

“I figure this is far enough away from the bar and on neutral ground,” I say folding my hands in front of me.
