Fortune Finds Florist Page 19

by Arlene James

“Sam,” she said, looking up into his face. “Sam.” Happy tears rolled out of her eyes and into the hair at her temples. “Sam.”

“Yeah,” he said, bending his head to hers, “just like that.”

She wrapped her arms around him, and as his clever hands and drugging mouth told her the truth behind the words he had given her, her mind spun back to the moment when she had learned what Edwin Searle had done for her and the others.

The shock of that moment, of hearing her name listed among those of Edwin’s beneficiaries, hearing the incredible news that she had just become an instant millionaire, lived vividly in her memory. She couldn’t have known then that Edwin’s ultimate gift to her would be a love as certain and rich as his own had been. All those flowers that he had laid on his wife’s cold grave had been more than a simple sign of his enduring devotion, they had been a promise, a down payment on the true inheritance he’d held in store for those lucky enough to find themselves beneficiaries of Edwin Searle’s largesse.

What Edwin had left was not money but the opportunity to find true wealth, the kind of love that he himself had valued more than all his millions. Val had found it with Ian, a love so rich that they had simply decided to give away or set aside her wealth. Now, because she’d had the money to reach for her dreams, Sierra had found it with Sam, and as he proved to her one more time that he was the true answer to those dreams, she hoped with all her heart that Avis would be next.

Sierra finally understood just what it meant to be rich, and it wasn’t about money. Money was nice, but love was everything.

  Absolutely everything.
