He pulled out when Jack bit her, not wanting his cock in her mouth at that moment. Females could be unpredictable during the marking, and he was willing to bet his mate would want him to keep that part of his anatomy. Her little growl, though, called to his wolf, and he was relieved when Jack finally roared his release.

He gave the man a few moments to come down from his climax, reminding himself that they were friends. Good friends. Almost like brothers. But the fucker was taking too long to release his mate. His wolf yanked at its chain and Hunter pushed roughly at Jack, growling. “Mine.”

Jack growled back, glaring at him. He balled his fists, looking ready to fight for her.

Hunter’s only thought was that a battle would delay his turn to mate with Mikayla. Other than that, he’d beat Jack senseless if that meant he could then bury himself inside her.

Another voice filtered its way through his haze. “Yours.”

  “What?”

Mikayla was probably the only relatively calm one in the room. “I belong to both of you. Or I will, once you claim me, too.”

Right. He had to remember that. Hunter didn’t have a problem sharing her with Jack. Plenty of wolves shared mates, and Jack was his best friend. Just slightly more in control of himself, he reached for her, quickly maneuvering her flat on her back.

He forced himself to slow down, reaching between her legs to stroke her. She was so wet, both with her own juices and Jack’s. The feel of her wet heat surrounding him was going to make him lose his mind.

“Take me.” She was incredibly responsive, loudly sucking air through her teeth at his first touch and beginning to churn her hips after only a couple of strokes. “Take me now, Hunter.”

He didn’t need to be told a third time. He took her mouth as he pushed inside her pussy. He’d been right. Her slick walls did threaten his composure. He kissed her deeply, thoroughly. Then he began to move inside her.

Hunter was far from a monk, but nothing could compare to the feel of her pussy. It was a wet mouth, grabbing and clenching at him. He’d thought to fuck her slowly at first, but then found he couldn’t. Not yet. Not this time. He had to let go, had to give in to the need to surge in and out of her. She encouraged him with her voice and her body, her moans driving him inexorably toward his release. He lifted her legs over his shoulders, giving him better access to bury himself entirely inside her. Despite her dangerous curves, she was small in comparison to him, but she took every inch of him and met every thrust.

His pace quickened until he felt the frantic need explode inside him, his heart slamming in his chest. Supporting himself on one hand he used the other to tug at her clit, rubbing in a circle, then pinching the hardened nub.

He could have thanked the gods as he felt her pussy clamp down and heard her shout in climax. He’d desperately wanted to feel her climax around him before it was too late. Now, he could let go. Now he could let his wolf take the reins to finish her. His last act as a man in control was to let her legs slide off his shoulders and press her down into the bed. Crushing his lips to hers, he hazarded a couple of thrusts, then swore, rearing back, grasping her shoulders to ride her as if his very life depended on it. Just as he blew, just as the torrents of hot cum left his straining cock, he fell forward and took her flesh, biting deeply to claim her, to make her his.

Mikayla felt like she been on a roller coaster ride. A big hairy roller coaster. Both sides of her neck were sore, though that would heal quickly. They’d each picked a distinct spot to mark, and she smiled to herself as she remembered the heat, the abandon with which they’d each claimed her. She’d never come so hard nor felt so completely, utterly under another’s control. And she’d liked it. No, that wasn’t quite right. She’d loved it. Just as she loved the way their scents clung to her body and the way their sweat coated it. And the feel of their jism dripping from her cunt… She found that oddly satisfying as well. But the thing that filled her with the most wonder didn’t come as a surprise at all. She’d heard about the link her entire life. It was a connection between mates that allowed them to hear each other’s thoughts. It was supposed to be weak at first but would grow stronger and more detailed in time. Some wolves, parents and their pups, litter mates, or even very close friends could share the link, but the intensity of it was something unique to the mated, and she’d waited her whole life have such a powerful connection with someone. It was for that reason that her heart soared when she heard one of them in her head. Hunter. His voice said, Mine. My mate. Then Jack’s. She’d caught snatches from him while she’d mated with Hunter for the first time, but this was the first thought she could actually decipher. Her caveman of a wolf said, More.

  Chapter 3

Mikayla looked out the window, noting that the landscape reminded her somewhat of River’s Bend. They’d been in the car for almost three hours. “How much further?”

“An hour or so.” Jack’s response came out more like a grunt than actual words.

Mikayla grinned to herself. She recognized a wolfy pout when she saw one. He hadn’t wanted to leave their love nest so soon. In fact, they’d both insisted that spending the day there wouldn’t hurt. But she’d already given in and spent the night in their little hideout, a night filled with the type of passion she’d only ever dreamt about. In the light of day, though, she’d put her foot down. They’d take her to Liz or they’d get no more mating. Sure, it was an ultimatum that would punish her, too, but she’d had to risk it.

They’d insisted on sending someone from the safe house back to get her car rather than just splitting up so one of them could ride with her. She’d argued that point, too, but she’d lost that time. Apparently, it would be too hard to stash her car near the safe house since they already had to hide Hunter’s car. And they’d insisted she would be safer with both of them. She’d been hard pressed to argue that point, especially when they promised it would be parked somewhere safe and kept in perfect condition until she came back for it. Mikayla didn’t love driving overmuch anyway, so it was no great hardship.

She turned to glance at the man in the backseat. “He’s still asleep.”

Jack shrugged. “Hunter can sleep through just about anything.”

The Viking seemed as peaceful as a sleeping pup at the moment. “It’s starting to snow.” Yes, she was stating the obvious, but she hoped pointing it out would make him drive faster. He’d said they’d have to make the last leg of the trip on foot, and Mikayla worried they’d get caught out in the frigid mess. Being cold was bad enough. Having to plow her way through cold, wet flakes wasn’t her idea of fun.

“Don’t worry.” He glanced at her, grinning. “I won’t let you freeze.”

“You don’t know what music that is to my ears.” Had he read her mind or was she just that obvious? The mind link, she’d already discovered, wasn’t that awesome when one of them was grumbly about something, such as not being able to spend the entire near future fucking her. Good thing it would take some time to perfect the link.

“I didn’t think I’d find my mate anytime soon, what with being pack-less and all, but I’ll always do whatever it takes to keep you safe…and warm.” Jack reached over and smoothed her hair away from her face, then jerked his head toward the backseat. “Hunter, too. As sound asleep as he is now, he’d be up in a flash if you were in danger.”

“That, I find hard to believe.” She had no doubt that he would fight to the death for her. It was what wolf shifters did for their mates, and these two already exhibited an affection for her that made her feel safe. But Hunter looked dead to the world at the moment.

“Go ahead. Give a little shout to test the theory.”

Mikayla looked back at Hunter’s peaceful face. “You’re terrible.” She laughed. “I’d hate to be scared awake like that.”

Jack shrugged. “We prank each other all the time. You probably wouldn’t even have to shout. Watch.” He cleared his throat. “Oh no, someone’s after Mikayla!” He said his line in a l
oud stage whisper that made her laugh again.

The growl that came from the backseat put paid to her mirth. “What the fuck, Jack?”

Mikayla turned to face a clearly disgruntled man wolf with hair sticking out all over his head. “Jack’s just fooling around. Go back to sleep.” They’d had a long night of mating and Hunter had driven for the first leg of the trip. She was sure he was tired. Yawning, she acknowledged that she wasn’t so bright-eyed and bushy-tailed either.

Hunter leaned forward from the backseat to punch Jack in the arm. “Dickhead.”

To her surprise, Hunter lay back down, stretched out, and appeared to fall immediately back into an easy slumber. “That has to hurt.” She rubbed Jack’s arm where Hunter had abused it.

He shrugged, laughing a little. “Goes with the territory.”

The deep rumble of his laughter reminded her of the timbre of sounds he made in bed, and she squirmed in her seat. The fact that she’d pushed to take this trip didn’t mean that she was any happier about not being able to have them all day. She was still in the grips of her mating heat, and feeling his muscles flex under her hand didn’t make matters any easier.

“You should lie down, too. You haven’t rested yet.” His voice had taken on a husky quality, probably a result of her arousal. “Here.” He reached for her and guided her down to rest her head in his lap.

As far as pillows went, it was comfortable enough, and it was definitely warm. It smelled divine, too. But for the life of her, she couldn’t figure out why he thought resting her head that close his cock was going to help her sleep.

In the end, she must have dozed off, because she came to with a jolt, realizing they’d stopped. She sat up and looked around, just as Jack cut the engine. There really wasn’t much to see. The immediate area was heavily wooded and had the air of the untouched. There wasn’t a house, outhouse or even a cabin in sight.

Hunter had already exited the car and opened her door, reaching for her. “We go the rest of the way on foot.” He wore a sexy smile, and his hair was rumpled. Her heart did an abrupt flip-flop at the sight.

“Jack told me.” She took his hand, noting once again the jolt she felt when either of them touched her. She wondered if that would fade with time and familiarity. “How far is it?” Suddenly she didn’t care how long it was before she got to see Liz again. Why had she passed on a day in bed with them to trek through the snow? Liz owed her big time.

Jack rounded the car to where she stood holding Hunter’s hand and sulking about the snow. “A few miles in.”

“A few miles!” That was nothing to a shifter, but it was cold and that annoying white stuff was everywhere. “And you promised to keep me warm.” She put on an exaggerated pout. It was her fault they were out there in the elements, but still.

“I did and I will.” Jack popped the trunk and pulled out a thick pelt.

“How is that going to help?”

“I’m going to carry you on my back, and the pelt will help you stay warm.”

“No, that’s okay. You don’t have to carry me.” She could shift and run a few miles. She wasn’t keen on the snow, but she wouldn’t behave like a prima donna either.

“We’ll take turns.” Hunter nodded at Jack, as if she hadn’t just said the piggyback thing wasn’t necessary.

Jack shook his head. “I can handle it on my own.”

“But you don’t have to.” Hunter looked at Jack, then smiled at her. “We’re both here.”

For the most part, her new mates got along very well. They did, however, find reasons to fight over who would get to do things for her. There’d been a bit of a scuffle over who would make her breakfast and who would sit next to her at the small kitchen table. They’d even tried to argue over who would get to feed her, but she’d settled that one right quick. Mikayla Lowell was more than capable of feeding herself.

She rolled her eyes as they bickered over, of all things, the right to have her ride on their backs through the cold-ass snow. Yours. Both of yours. She pushed the thought at them, hoping they’d catch it and calm down a little.

They kept it up a little while longer, but then she finally heard Hunter. Ours. And then Jack, Both of ours.

In no time, Jack had removed his clothes and stuffed them into a large canvas bag. Hunter followed suit and then shifted. Jack, naked and beyond delicious-looking, even in the snow, harnessed the camouflage bag to Hunter. Then he shifted and crouched low, so she could climb on his back.

Mikayla had only ever ridden a few wolves in her life, her father, her mother, the alpha Zion, and Adam, Zion’s eldest son. It was different with Jack, though. As a rule, wolf shifters were huge, but Jack seemed even larger than normal. Truly, he was magnificent, gray-and-black, and powerful, with the gray eyes that already drove her crazy staring back at her. She circled around to his side and mounted him, drawing the pelt over her head and around her shoulders, her purse slung over one shoulder, so it wouldn’t fall off. He was warm and his rough yet smooth fur felt like heaven to her touch. He gave a bark, and she held on with her free arm as he took off into the woods.

Ordinary wolves could reach speeds of 35 miles per hour, but wolf shifters were even faster, so they covered the snowy terrain fairly quickly. After riding for a while, she again told Jack she would do the run, but he just barked and kept going. He didn’t stop until Hunter started barking and then growling. It seemed he wanted his turn. Jack gave a growl and an angry bark in return, so Mikayla gave him a little swat. He was quite the silly doggy. They both were.

Jack lowered himself to the ground with another low, but less intense growl, and she quickly unfastened Hunter’s harness and reattached it to Jack. She was glad she remembered how he’d accomplished it, so it wasn’t necessary for Hunter to shift back. She gave Jack a kiss on his cold, wet nose, then walked back to Hunter. His fur was so dark gray, it was practically black, an almost startling contrast to his deep hazel eyes.

When she bent to kiss Hunter on the nose, he put out his tongue and licked what felt like her entire face. Mounting him, she repositioned the pelt, settling in for the rest of the ride to the safe house.

Jack gave another bark and they were off again, Mikayla warm and reasonably comfortable atop Hunter. This, she decided, she could get used to.

Mikayla was a pretty good judge of distance, and they traveled more than just the few miles Jack had mentioned to the safe house but not more than 30 or so. Even in the snow, the land reminded her of River’s Bend, except that it was so deserted. Though her clan did have vast, untouched areas, one couldn’t travel too far without running into another wolf or at least seeing the vague outline of a cabin in the distance. Where they were, though, she saw nothing, nothing, and more nothing. The snow enhanced the area’s isolated quality, muffling sounds and blurring vision.

When her wolves finally slowed down to a light trot, she still didn’t see much more than a dilapidated farmhouse off in the distance. “Is that it?”

Of course, neither of them answered her, and she hadn’t expected them to. They wouldn’t be able to speak in wolf form, and even the link wouldn’t work when she wasn’t in the same form as them.

They trotted over to the building and walked around to the back, hopping a rickety gate to get into a large but junk-filled yard. There they stopped, obviously scenting the air. Mikayla had done the same thing, though her senses weren’t as sharp in human form. Oddly, she couldn’t detect the scent of any other wolf. That must be one of the precautions they’d mentioned. Hunter crouched into the snow and allowed her to dismount, which she did, walking over to unfasten the harness Jack wore.

Her men shifted, transforming from beautiful male wolves into delicious masculine beefcakes, and she bit her lip just looking at them. There would be time to have them again later, she reminded herself as the men quickly dressed in clothes from the canvas bag.

Grabbing the bag and the harness, Jack pushed his way through a door that look
ed like it had no right to hold onto its hinges. It groaned open, and she followed Jack inside, her eyes quickly adjusting to the darkness. She had excellent vision, even at night, so she didn’t have to worry about bumping into anything despite the boarded-up windows.

The inside of the house was just as bad as the outside. It looked as if it had been deserted for a century and whomever had lived there before hadn’t been clean or handy. There were holes in walls, ceilings, and floors, cracked mouldings, and a healthy layer of dirt, dust and grime everywhere. The lack of furniture surprised her. She didn’t see so much as a single chair, though there were sheets hung over the windows. Filthy sheets. The stench, though, was something to encounter. The house smelled musty and soiled, which didn’t surprise her, but she caught thick whiffs of decaying flesh, too. Something had definitely died there.

Jack motioned for her to follow him deeper into the house and Hunter kept pace behind her. They made their way into what probably was a bedroom once, and Hunter peeled away from the rear to open a closet door, if you could call the decrepit, rotting thing that. She was amazed to see a bunch of old clothes still hanging on a rusty rack. Hunter pushed them aside and rapped on the closet wall several times in an odd pattern. Then the strangest thing came out of his mouth, making her jump. He kee-eeeee-arred like a hawk, and following right on his heels, Jack hissed like a panther.

Mikayla’s eyes were still wide with surprise when the wall of the closet somehow opened and a pair of golden eyes floated toward her in the darkness. Her mouth fell open as a new bouquet of scents hit her in the face. “What the fuck?”

  * * * *

She’d jerked back, ready to run, ready to shift, prepared to fight, but Jack took her arm in his firm grip.

“It’s okay. You’re safe. We know him.” He spoke quickly and firmly, which was wise, because she was a hair away from bolting.
