Beau gasped, reaching across the table and covering Mattie’s hand with his. “Damn boy, you gonna gut me like dis over suppah and a beer? Will did not tell me dis, and I’m glad he didn’t because it’s not his story to tell. Tank you dough, for trusting me enough to share dat wit me.”

Mattie gave him a blurry smile before being pulled under Andrew’s protective arm once again and held close.

“Okay den, we can meet at the Center next week for a tour and to discuss specifics. Now, what else is it you wanna offer to help out wit?” Beau asked.

“I played football in high school; I was damn good at it too, before I made the worst mistake of my life and that dream was shattered. Linc and I wanted to talk to you about starting up some various sports activities for the kids. Football, baseball, fucking hoola-hoop classes, whatever we can do to get the kids involved in activities that will help to enrich their lives, maybe even give them purpose.” Chris took Linc’s hand in his, kissing his knuckles and smiling at him.

“And….” Linc stretched out the word, grinning. “Chris and I would also like to come to work for you Beau, here at the bar.”

“Say what now?” William asked, flabbergasted.

Linc and Chris both laughed out loud. “Not full time, or even part time, more like when William and Beau want to take a vacation; or when William and Beau want to stay in bed all weekend and fuck like minks. We don’t have any kids, yet, or pets or demanding jobs. We seriously want to be able to help you guys when you need it.”

The table fell silent, William and Beau gaping, their eyes darting around the faces at the table, then back to each other. After a few intense moments, Beau finally broke the silence, speaking softly. “You want to tell dem, Cher?” William didn’t have to ask what Beau was referring to, he already knew; he nodded.

Before Beau could utter a word, Victor cut him off with a hand wave. “I am hoping you are not being upset Beau, but I already tell Andrew and Matthew. A secure marriage can have no secrets.” Beau nodded.

“Tell us what, exactly?” Chris asked.

“I’m HIV positive.” Beau threw it right out there, no beating around the bush or long setup, he went straight to the pitch.

  “Ummmm… wow.” Linc responded.

“I did not expect that.” Chris said.

Beau spent the next hour telling William’s extended family about him and Izaiah, law school, losing Izaiah and so much more. Beau was surprised at how easy it was to talk to the five men, to share his past that he usually kept well-hidden and guarded from strangers. But then, the men he sat with, drank with, ate dinner with and laughed with…they weren’t strangers. They were William’s family. So therefore, they were now Beau’s as well.

“Is that why you started the Center? Because of your parents turning their backs on you?” Mattie asked, wiping his wet eyes with a napkin.

“Dat, and losing Izzie. Dese kids got nothin, no one in the world. I set out to help just one and it turned into so much more. I wish I could help more, but the house can only hold so many bodies.” He chuckled.

“Maybe that is being something that we can help with too.” Victor offered.

It was two in the morning before they finally made it upstairs to their apartment. Beau was overwhelmed, his head still spinning; it almost seemed too good to be true. He lay awake for a while, his fingers dancing up and down William’s arm. Lost in thought, he didn’t hear William speaking at first. “Babe, you okay?”

  “Yeah, why?”

William laughed softly; the sound was music to Beau’s ears. “I’ve only called your name three times before you answered me.”

“I’m scared dat if I fall asleep, I gonna wake and it’s all gonna been a dream.” He whispered.

William reached over, his hand gently caressing Beau’s cheek, his thumb grazing Beau’s lips before he leaned into his body and kissed him. The kiss was gentle and sweet, the passion that always ignited between them rumbled just beneath the surface. Beau was determined to make love to William, to show him how much he was loved, cherished and adored with gentler touches than their usually unbridled sex.

Their bodies came together in the dark seamlessly, Beau sharing emotions and feelings he couldn’t put into words with his body, leaving William boneless and satisfied while he quickly cleaned up then crawled back into the bed behind him. He kissed the back of William’s neck, smiling when the man shivered in his arms.

“Sleep now Cher, I love you.”

William was so exhausted, he was already half asleep, mumbling something that sounded a lot like “I love you too” before drifting off in his lover’s arms.

Beau hadn’t prayed in years, but that night, he sent a quiet thank you up to the heavens. He thanked God for his divine intervention, for putting William in his path. And he thanked Izaiah for teaching him how to love.

  Epilogue

“Stop pushing Max; you gonna knock somebody down. Dey’s plenty a food to go round.” Beau grabbed a fistful of the teenager’s shirt, holding him in place. Max crossed his arms over his chest and gave Beau a scowl worthy of his current status, a petulant child. “Just for dat, you get your butt back dere at the end a the line.” Beau turned him around, gently shoving him to the back of the line.

Victor had rented out Pier 25 for the day for a field trip of sorts for everyone at New Horizons. Most of the All Cocks models were there as well to help supervise the fifteen kids that were all lined up at that moment, anxiously awaiting their lunch. Mattie and Colton took care of the food from their catering budget at no charge to Beau; he argued at length with them, eventually caving and thanking them both for their generosity. After so many years alone, it was still difficult for Beau to accept help sometimes. But when it came to the kids at the Center, he could never deny anything offered for very long.

Mattie had actually taken on a somewhat permanent role at the Center, teaching a cooking class there once a week on Thursday nights along with Gabe, and setting up field trips of a sort to nice restaurants that served seven course meals. Then they would base the next week’s class on some of the dishes they were served. All avenues for adoption or fostering had nearly been exhausted, the three men no closer to expanding their family than they had been a year ago when Mattie initially started the process.

“You know, there is always the option of surrogacy.” William tossed out one night while he and Mattie cleaned up the kitchen at the Center after class.

Standing there, watching his insanely loud, larger than life family playing mini golf with a bunch of teenagers, all of them having the time of their life. It occurred to William then that porn didn’t define any of them. It was a job, nothing more. Their lives started when the camera stopped rolling, not when it began. Strong arms wrapped around him from behind and he leaned back into the familiar warmth of Beau’s body, turning his head to steal a quick kiss.

“Ewwwwww!” Max hollered as he ran past them.

“Dat damn kid!” Beau moved to give chase but William held him back, tightening his hold on Beau’s hands at his waist.

“Slow your roll, Caveman.” He chuckled.

Beau leaned down, his warm breath ghosting over William’s ear as he whispered. “I’ll show you caveman tonight when I trow you over my shoulder, carry you up dem stairs and fuck you up against our living room wall.”

Just the promise of Beau inside him caused an involuntary full body shudder. “See dere Cher, you like dat idea, don’t ya?” William nodded frantically, trying to decide if he and Beau would be missed if they went and locked themselves in the bathroom next to the concession stand.

“Get your mind outta da gutter, I ain’t fucking you in a bathroom.” William laughed at that, shaking his head. He was convinced that Beau could read his mind, his lover always able to tell exactly what he was thinking simply by his body language.

  “Uh-oh,” William said, whistling low.

“What?” Beau stood up straight, looking around to see what had caught William’s attention. S
tanding there at the mouth of the cave where Beau had rubbed William to climax on their first date was Jacob and Tommy. Beau’s oldest charge was leaning against Jacob, his head thrown back, smiling up at the youngest All Cocks model. Whatever they were talking about had them both laughing and smiling, the blush on Tommy’s face could clearly be seen, even from the distance.

When Jacob turned to walk through the cave to the next green, wrapping his arm around Tommy and taking him with, a growl from deep down in Beau’s throat reverberated through William’s body. Turning, he took Beau’s face in his hands, forcing him to look down, not watch Jacob and Tommy walking away. “You are such a fucking caveman, I swear. He’s twenty years old Beau, you just made him a full time nanny at the Center so you must trust him, trust his judgement.”

“I do trust him Cher, it’s dat tall drink a water dere dat I don’t trust.” Beau frowned.

William laughed again. “That’s because you thought he was trying to get in my pants, which he wasn’t, by the way.”

“What…” William cut off his tirade with a finger over his lips.

“Trust me then Beau, I know Jacob, he’s a good guy at heart and he would never hurt Tommy, okay?” William bit back a grin, watching as Beau’s face went from scowling to accepting what William was telling him. “Good.” William stole a quick kiss before turning and dragging Beau off toward the concession stand where Chris and Linc were guarding the beer cooler.

They had barely sat down with a couple of beers with Jon and Kory arrived, a smiling Jay in tow, he and Chloe saying high before grabbing a couple of putters and making their way to the first green. Jay, born Joy, had meet Chloe, the drug store clerk with the pink hair, when she came to the Center to sign up as a volunteer.

The Peer program was only one of many new things that had been implemented at the Center in the weeks following Victor, Andrew and Mattie’s offer to help. Jon had been the one to come to Beau and offer his assistance, bringing Kory and the daughter of one of Jon’s coworkers with them to volunteer. Chloe’s family didn’t take the news that their daughter was a lesbian very well, her father reaching out to Jon for fear of losing his daughter because he and his wife we’re struggling. While the relationship was still strained, it was on the mend.

Chloe jumped at the chance to help out at the Center, knowing somewhat how the kids there felt after the rocky road she’d travelled with her own parents after coming out. Her and Jay gravitated toward each other from day one and grew closer the more time they spent together. They were pretty much inseparable now and Beau couldn’t be happier. Where no one had ever been able to get past the wall that Jay hid behind, Chloe knocked it down and planted her ass right next to him, refusing to budge.

In addition to the Peer program and Mattie’s weekly cooking class, Chris and Linc followed through with their offer to help with sports. The back yard at the Center had been transformed into a versatile area where they could play football, baseball and soccer complete with nets, balls and safety gear for all the kids. When Beau tried to write them a check to cover to the cost of everything, Chris politely told him to shove the check up his ass, tearing it in half and dropping the pieces onto Beau’s desk.

“This was my passion Beau, a life I wanted more than anything at the time. It makes me happy to be able to do this, so please, let me do it.” Chris explained. Beau would forever be stubborn and pig headed when it came to accepting help from others after a lifetime of dealing with people that expected something in return. He was fastly learning that the men at All Cocks were the exception to the rule.

Much to his dismay, William talked him into a round of mini golf. Following his partner as he giggled, ran through the greens kicking balls away from the holes and successfully annoyed most of the kids while they played, reminded Beau of their first date. Standing just inside the cave William slowed, turning and smiling up at Beau. “The day we came here on our first date was the day I first realized I was falling in love with you. That day you truly let your guard down and allowed me to see the real you, to see the man behind the mask you were hiding behind until then.”

Beau took the putter from William’s hand, turning and setting them both against the wall of the cave before pulling William close, leaning in for a chaste kiss. “The first time I took you to the Center was the turning point for me. I stood dere at the kitchen window watching you toss the ball wit a couple of the boys and I tought, dis is a man I could spend my life wit.”

William smile was wide and bright, his eyes sparkling, looking up at Beau with so much love and adoration it made him weak in the knees. “I love you Beauregard Boudreaux, so damn much.”

“And I love you, Mon Cheri.” Beau whispered, taking William’s mouth with a deep, sensual kiss.

William pulled away; already breathless from just one kiss. “We better stop.”

“Yeah,” Beau agreed with a soft chuckle.

“Wait! I almost forgot; I got you something.” William dug something out of his pocket. “Here, give me your wrist.” Beau held his hand out and watched as William rolled a bracelet over his hand, pulling the ends tight around his wrist. It was a black leather bracelet with one wide leather band surrounded by two thinner woven bands that now circled Beau’s wrist. There was a fancy fleur-de-lis pendant at the center with a couple of silver, round charms holding it in place.

“Cher, dis is beautiful, tank you.” Beau leaned down and kissed his lover, wondering what he’d done to deserve the love of such a genuine man. Who knew he’d find everything he thought he’d lost, when he stopped looking? Walking back out into the sun, watching William joke with the kids and his friends gave Beau a sense of peace he hadn’t felt in so long, he’d forgotten the very definition of the word. After so many years adrift and alone, finally, he’d found his home.

  A note from the Author…

While a diagnosis of HIV is no longer a death sentence with the continual growth of modern medicine, the dangers of the disease are not to be taken lightly. With the assistance of my friends, opening up and answering my questions, I was able to bring the reality of what two people in a relationship (one positive and one negative) live with every day.

Please, be aware and educated and always practice safe sex. In the wonderfully spoken words of one sexy ass gay porn star, Jesse Jackman… “For fuck’s sake, wear a condom!”
