  About The Author

  Also By Rachel Van Dyken

To the readers, this book, this series would not be possible without you guys.

I would have never imagined back in 2011 that I would still be writing about these men or that in 2019, they'd have a WHOLE lot more to say.

Buckle up, things are about to get intense.

  Blood in, no out.

  AUTHOR NOTE

DEBASE TAKES PLACE in the Eagle Elite World. You do NOT need to read the series to follow and enjoy Debase.

If you're new to the Eagle Elite world, here are a few things you may want to know. Though Debase is Book One in a new series (Elite Bratva Brotherhood), I'm still calling it Book Eleven in the Eagle Elite series because it gives everyone closure and introduces you guys to the Russian mafia at the same time! The men of Eagle Elite are ruthless, protective, loyal, not afraid to get their hands “dirty” and they love hard. Never forget that they are mafia and Family always comes first. I’m including this “family tree” in here just in case you guys have questions on who belongs to each family and which couple belongs to each book.

Welcome to the Family. Blood in. No out.

Quick Catch Up Guide to the Eagle Elite World:

All right, say you’ve never entered this world, what do you really need to know about the stories since this is BOOK ONE in the new spin-off series. Well, that’s easy. The De Lange Family (one of the poorer five families) is in disarray after the betrayal and death of Mil De Lange (once married to Chase Abandonato). Not only did she turn her back on her husband and the rest of the four families but she tried to partner with the Russians to do it. Thankfully, Andrei Petrov, boss to the Petrov Russian Crime Family, was also playing both sides and has been mentored by Luca Nicolasi (now a ghost), to not only be a feeder to the FBI but also have the law in his pocket. The Italians swore fealty to Andrei and now the Russians and Italians are working together against the De Langes. A kill order has been announced for any De Lange associate. Chase Abandonato is the right hand man to the Abandonato Family, a captain, and assassin, hell bent on killing every single person in the De Lange bloodline, all except his new wife whose blood has been spilled on behalf of the Italians and who is currently pregnant.

This book starts off with Andrei Petrov, you learn his story, what makes him tick, and the darkness that drives him. Enjoy!

  The Families

The Petrov Family is the Russian dynasty out to destroy all five Sicilian families. They have now spread from Chicago, to New York, and even Seattle.

The Five Families of the Cosa Nostra: Abandonato, Alfero, Campisi, Nicolasi and De Lange (ex-communicated). These families are all based in Chicago. They are the most powerful Italian mafia families in the US.

The Italian Mafia Families still in Sicily: Sinacore, Vitela, Buratti, Rossa and Di Masis. They don’t have a say in the Cosa Nostra but are closely aligned.

  The Men

Chase and Luciana are the parents of Violet Emiliana.

Tex Campisi married to Mo Abandonato (Nixon’s twin sister). Tex is the Capo dei Capi, which basically means he’s their version of the godfather. (Elicit)

  PROLOGUE

  Andrei

WITH BLOOD ON my hands, I held her.

With death in my soul, I drank her.

With the devil in my heart, I coveted her.

  My name is Andrei Petrov.

My last will and testament is as follows:

  Let me finally die.

Let me bring down this empire of filth and destruction into the depths of a fiery Hell.

  Let. Me. Go.

Protect Alice De Lange at all costs and tell her I’m sorry.

I’m sorry for referring to her as a number — it was too painful to say her name.

I’m sorry for all the times I shoved her, when I just wanted to shield her from the pain.

I’m sorry for taking her virginity and giving her mine in the process.

I’m sorry that she’s left to clean up a mess she’s not ready for.

I’m not sorry for loving her.

I’m not sorry for doing what was best.

I’m not sorry for killing them all.

  I’d do it again.

  For her I’d do anything.

Sincerely, Andrei Petrov, last boss to the Petrov Dynasty.

PS. I will not rest in peace.

  One month into the future…

BLOOD AND DIRT caked her face.

And still I grabbed the whip.

I clenched it between my bloodied hands while they watched.

It came down hard on her snowy white skin, it ripped into her flesh and pulled it from her body — and I could smell their arousal. Their need to see violence in order to live in those disgusting bodies, surrounded by the most expensive women in the world.

  Women I gave them.

  Women I sold.

  Souls I stole.

  Hell was waiting for me.

I knew it as much as I knew my next breath would be the hardest I would take in my short life.

Because her eyes begged me for life.

Even when she knew, even when I told her again and again — all I had to offer was death.

They needed it, lived for it.

And she’d committed the ultimate sin.

  Trusting me.

I slammed the whip down on her right thigh.

  She cried out my name.

  And I remembered.

  I remembered then.

There was once a time where my name fell from her lips in ecstasy, in wonder — in love.

But she didn’t know — I wasn’t capable of it.

  This was my legacy.

  This was my destiny.

A tear slid down her cheek falling onto the rivers of blood streaming down the concrete.

Soon the blood would be gone.

  The concrete clean.

And her life would be sacrificed.

  Not by my hand.

  But hers.

Because that was the deal, wasn’t it?

“Kill me,” she’d whispered between kisses.

“Yes,” I agreed as I tasted her sweet sin for the last time. “I will kill you.”

Her thank you fell on deaf ears.

So, I raised the whip again while she smiled.

  CHAPTER ONE

  Andrei

  Then

“YOU KNOW WHAT you have to do, son.” Alexander Petrov was many things to many people.

What he wasn’t, was a father.

I despised that the only time he ever referenced me as his son was when he needed me to do something dark, something that would alter me, something that would take the tiny, minuscule pieces of the soul that I had left, and damn them to Hell.

  Son, son, son, son.

I ached to hear it more than I would ever admit.

  Son.

  I was of his blood.

  I was damned.

  Son.

“They are nothing, simply scared girls who need to be shown to their rooms. Can you do that, Andrei? Can you get them to their rooms?” He always made it sound so simple.

  It never was.

  Rooms.

I almost laughed. A room meant they had comfort, a room typically conjured up good feelings of rest, windows, bright colors, and teddy bears.

I wasn’t escorting them to their rooms.

I was taking them to their deaths.

We didn’t call the path Red Row for nothing.

Because they would paint the cement red with their blood, with their screams, before ever seeing death, calling it Red Row, we figured, would be a kindness.

“Son.” There it was again. I squeezed the tears in. After all, I’d learned my lesson on my sixth birthday when I let myself shed them over my dead dog, when my father and stepmother made me shoot it in the face because I hadn’t cleaned up my dinner plate… and then laughed when I burst into tears over the warm blood splatters of my best friend all over my skin. Blood splatters I still felt to this day, laughter that still echoed in my head.

Fourteen. Fourteen years old, and I was already a monster.

I felt it shift within me.

Yes, I would remember this day for the rest of my life. I just didn’t know why. So, when I nodded my head to my father, when he gave me the approval he knew I would kill to gain.

  I felt the monster smile.

I sighed in relief. “Yah, Dad, I got this.”

“Good job, Son.” He put his hand on my shoulder then. It was covered in the ever-present leather glove; no fingerprints, no skin on skin contact, not even for his own son.

  I didn’t blame him.

  Skin made me flinch.

  It was too personal.

  Too warm.

  Too soft, delicate.

  I did better with death.

At fourteen, I was better off with corpses.

I moved down Red Row and stopped in front of the cage, I slid the key in the lock and pulled the metal door open.

There were three of them. They were my age, maybe younger. Dirt caked their faces, scratches marred their feet, and I couldn’t tell if they would get to keep their hair since it was matted so close to their head. They were dirty. Ugly.

  Not human.

They had one thing in their favor.

They were virgins. Dirty. Virgins. So, it didn’t matter what they looked like, did it? They had something men would pay for, die for.

Something I would kill to keep.

“This way,” I said in a hollow voice. “Now.”

  Nobody moved.

I glared at the three of them. Didn’t they realize? If I didn’t do this right I would get punished? They were being fucking selfish! My father called me son! Didn’t they know? Didn’t they see the desperation in my eyes?

I walked into the cage, to the first one, and kicked her in the feet, she let out a scream so piercing that I covered my ears.

When she was done, I pulled out my gun. “You either die here or you move.”

Slowly, the girls held on to each other and stood. I grabbed the first by the elbow, the rest followed after, and down we went, cages lined the path, another dark pathway appeared to my right; it led to the rooms.

  They were soundproof.

  They were death.

They also had showers and food.

It was like leading a starved animal to the slaughter, we fattened them up, and then we gave them everything they’d been begging for, for days.

  And then. They died.<
br />
“In there.” I shoved the girls into the small windowless room, with its one shower and a bunk bed. The only table in the room had an array of fruits, vegetables, and meats.

They ran to the table and started eating. I turned away from the disgusting view of their knobby knees, and dirty fingers as they shoved food into their mouths.

They didn’t realize the food was laced with drugs.

Or that in a few short hours they would wish for more.

  Beg for it, actually.

The younger-looking one lowered a piece of beef jerky and turned to me. She had blond hair, and she reminded me of my sister, the one I barely knew, the one with the boy’s name, the one who had died. Or at least Dad said she was dead; I had no way of knowing what was real or not.

  She wasn’t with us.

  It was better that way.

Sometimes I imagined she was free.

Sometimes I hated her because of it.

“Thank you,” the girl said in a small voice that made me want to commit violence toward her. It made no sense, but her thank you was worse than a scream or a threat. I would welcome her violence. I had no clue what to do with her thanks, maybe because I knew how misplaced it was. “For the food, and the beds.”

My heart thumped against my chest, it thumped with anger and defiance all wrapped up in one.

“Thank me when you’re finally dead,” I said in a harsh whisper. “Only then will you be free. Only then.” I slowly backed out of the room and locked the door with a resounding click. “Will any of us be free.”

I held my head high as I walked back down the hall to my post, and when I sat at that metal desk, alone in the darkness as the cold from the dungeon-like surroundings seeped into my bones, I realized. I was in the same prison.

And I was playing the game wrong.

  All wrong.

I was trapped just like them.

Drinking the poison, just like them.

The only way out wasn’t playing into his hand.

It was making him think I was the one controlling it.

I pulled out the old revolver my dad had given me after my first kill and emptied all but one bullet. Then I did what any sane Russian would do.
