Now to take care of my homework—and go to bed with a satisfied smile on my face.

  Chapter Fifteen

  Kacey

“You were out pretty late.” Harlan looked at his arm, which didn’t actually have a watch. “Way past curfew.”

“I have a curfew?” I winked at him and smiled.

“You don’t call—you don’t text. Hell, a letter might have made it home before you did.” Gabe walked out of the kitchen and leaned against the wall. “Do you want anything to eat?”

“Sorry, my mom wanted me to stay for dinner.” I walked into the living room and took a seat on the couch.

“How did it go?” Gabe followed me into the living room and sat down across from me.

“It went much better than I expected. Probably a lot better than I deserved, considering how I left things. Not to mention the fact we showed up like thieves to get my stuff.” I shrugged and nodded. “She’s on board with Thanksgiving, and I kept the story simple, not that it helped when she found out I was living with some guy I just met.”

“Did you tell her I was rich?” Gabe tilted his head and grinned.

“That… never came up in conversation.” I shook my head back and forth. “All right, I need to go work on some school stuff before bed. You might not want to wait up for me.”

“Seriously?” Harlan raised his eyebrows. “You’re going to break the sex streak already? I thought that came after the honeymoon.”

“Tomorrow—I promise.” I leaned forward and sighed. “You’re the ones that wanted me to go to college in the first place.”

I worked in the office until I couldn’t keep my eyes open any longer. I managed to catch my head before it slammed into the desk and finally turned off the light. My assignments needed work, but I had a good start. I was starting to regret agreeing to meet Abby later in the week after spending so long at my mother’s house. I was also starting to regret my decision to take so many classes my freshman year. I thought I could manage a little extra since I wasn’t working, but it was clearly a mistake. I walked up to the bedroom we shared and looked at my two sleeping men. Just seeing their gorgeous bodies on display made me tingle, but I was too tired to do anything about it. I crashed between them and felt their arms instinctively reach out to hold me.

How did I get so freaking lucky?

  Two days later

I spent the next two days working as much as I could during the day and taking advantage of every break. It was exhausting and I didn’t get a lot of sleep, but I woke up with a smile on my face between Harlan and Gabe. My body seemed to be slowly adjusting to my new schedule—and functioning on very little sleep. I was getting about as much sleep as an average college student probably would, but I wasn’t spending my nights partying at a club. The only party I cared about was one we made when the three of us were together. I considered canceling on Abby but I had made enough progress to carry me into the weekend, and I didn’t want to stand her up—especially if she was planning to ask me to stand by her side as her Maid of Honor.

“Wow, you look great!” Abby greeted me as soon as I arrived at her table. “What do you want to drink?”

“Maybe just a water?” I tilted my head and shrugged.

“Water—shit. I wouldn’t have asked you to meet at a bar if I knew you weren’t going to have a drink with me.” She sat down and motioned for one of the waitresses. “Did you, like, quit or something?”

“I’m just taking a break.” I smiled and ordered a water when the waitress arrived. “I think I had more than my fair share when I was riding my crazy train.”

“I was worried about you, I’ll admit.” She nodded and leaned against the table. “But you’re in college now, right? You can live a little. Getting wasted is a college tradition.”

“I made the mistake of signing up for way too many classes for that.” I chuckled and looked around the bar. “This place is busier than usual.”

“I just think you were usually too drunk by this point to notice.” Abby laughed and shook her head. “It’s so good to see you again, Kacey. How are things going with—what’s his name?”

“Harlan? Yeah, they’re good. I mean, we’re just roommates.” I shrugged and twisted my lip into a half-smile. “There’s another guy, though. Harlan’s friend—Gabe. He’s amazing.”

“So you are seeing someone.” A wicked smile formed on her face. “Tell me everything! Oh my god, did you lose your virginity?”

“Well…” I looked down at the table and grinned.

“Yep—tell me everything!” Abby nodded quickly and leaned closer.

I filled Abby in on what I felt would be safe to share. I probably could have been more open with her, but I wasn’t ready for that. I wasn’t sure I ever would be able to share everything. Our cover story was good enough, and I told her the same thing I told my mother, although I went into a little more detail. I wasn’t a virgin anymore. It felt good to admit that. She had suggested on more than one occasion that I try to get over my heartbreak with a random guy, and I had considered it a few times. I was lucky that alcohol didn’t give me the courage to finally do it, because losing my cherry to Harlan and Gabe had been well worth the wait. They were certainly better than most of the guys that hit on me at the bar after a few drinks.

“So, enough about me. How are things with John?” I sipped my water and looked over at Abby.

“They’re great. “We’ve set a date—we’re getting married next summer.” She smiled wide and looked down at her engagement ring. “We’re already living together, so we might as well wait until we can have a perfect beach wedding.”

“That sounds amazing. I’m so happy for you.” My eyes lit up when I saw the excitement on her face.

“Yep, it sounds like both of us are in a very good place right now—oh god.” The smile instantly faded from Abby’s face when she lifted her head.

“What?” I tilted my head to the side. “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing. We should go.” She pushed her chair back and started to stand.

“Go? You haven’t even finished your drink.” I looked up as she clutched her purse.

“Seriously, Kacey. Let’s go.” She grabbed my arm and I saw fear in her eyes.

I couldn’t help but look for the source of her horrified expression. My head turned in the direction she was staring and then I realized why she wanted to go. It was Chad—the bastard that broke my heart into a million pieces. He was leaning against the bar, laughing with a few of his friends, and he hadn’t spotted us. In an instant, I was the same shattered girl he destroyed. My stomach twisted into a knot and I felt my legs shake. I always wondered what I would do if I saw him again. I might have nursed my broken heart back to health thanks to Harlan and Gabe, but the pieces tried to rip themselves apart in my chest. I took a deep breath and silenced the thoughts in my head. Chad was my past, and he had no power over me.

I have to be stronger than this. I’m done letting him control my life and screw with my emotions.

“Maybe I should have that drink after all.” I turned back towards the table. “I’m not going to let him ruin our night. Fuck him.”

“Are you sure? We could just leave. There are plenty of other places we can get a drink.” Abby slowly walked back to her chair and sat down cautiously.

“No, I want to drink here.” I motioned to the waitress and ordered a Manhattan.

“Straight for the hard stuff?” Abby blinked a couple of times.

“I guess I’m done taking a break.” I leaned back in my chair, casually glancing over my shoulder at Chad again.

  That son of a bitch.

I was playing with fire, but I didn’t care. I just needed one drink to calm my nerves. There was no way I was going to let Chad have an effect on me. I was going to be better than that. I was going to be a normal person at a bar, having a drink with my friend—granted, I had to use a fake ID to get in the door. Chad’s voice cut through the room like a knife. I could hear him over the
roar. His laugh filled my ears and echoed—just like it used to when I loved hearing it. The waitress brought my drink and I stared at it for a moment. Abby had a look of concern that seemed to be permanently etched on her face. I lifted the glass, stared at it for a moment, and then I sat it down in front of me.

  No, I’m better than this.

“Forget it, let’s go.” I pushed my chair back and stood.

“Good.” Abby let out a sigh of relief.

“Abby? Wait—Kacey?” It was Chad’s voice and he was right behind me.

  Fuck.

“We were just leaving.” Kacey walked around the table and took my arm.

“Yeah.” I turned around and took a deep breath as I looked at him. “I didn’t realize they let scumbag trash into this place.”

“Don’t be like that.” Chad smirked and shook his head. “It’s been two years, come on. We should talk. If you wait a few minutes, you can meet my wife.”

“Your—what?” My voice cracked and my lip quivered.

“I just got married.” He held up his left hand and I saw a golden band around his finger. “Don’t worry, I told her all about you. She knows I was a little wild in high school.”

  A little wild?

“Fuck you, Chad.” I turned and grabbed my drink. “You can go straight to hell.”

It felt like I was moving in slow motion when I turned back towards Chad. Everything I had felt—two years of misery. It was nothing to him. He moved on, found someone else, and got married. He was the one that cheated on me, and he was unscathed. I internalized the pain while he forgot all about me. I turned the glass to the side and extended my arm, sending every drop of the Manhattan straight into Chad’s face. That was where it belonged. He took a step back and blinked as a string of profanity rushed from his lips. I was done with Chad. I had nothing else to say to him. I grabbed Abby’s arm and started marching towards the exit.

“Now it’s time to go.” I slammed my hand into the door and stepped out into the parking lot.

“Holy shit, that was amazing!” Abby’s eyes lit up. “You’re finally over him.”

“Yeah.” I nodded and pursed my lips together. “I see things clearly now. I was such a stupid idiot.”

“Should we wait around and watch him try to explain that to his new wife?” Abby giggled and smiled.

“No, I think it’s time for me to go home.” I reached out and touched her arm. “Thank you—this night turned out to be quite liberating.”

“Well, before you go.” Her smile got wider. “Please tell me that you’ll be my Maid of Honor.”

“I would be honored.” I took a step closer to Abby and gave her a hug.

My past was where it belonged—in the past. As much as I tried to deny it, there was still a part of me that didn’t totally let go of Chad when I met Harlan and Gabe. I told myself it was over, and that I had moved on, but I still harbored some of the heartbreak. As I headed back to Gabe’s house, I felt something new. My heart didn’t feel like it was torn, or even like it was capable of being broken. It was fully regenerated—and it was filled with love for the two men that cared for me more than anything else in the world. They gave me the strength to stand on my own two feet again, but it was my inner resolve that truly severed the past.

  Chapter Sixteen

  Harlan

I could tell something wasn’t right with Kacey when she arrived. Gabe felt it as well. After a little prodding, she told us what happened. I was furious when she mentioned Chad. I wasn’t jealous, because I knew she was committed to us, but I still hated that he could hurt her after all that time. I didn’t expect her to completely forget him. He was her first love and the man she thought she was going to marry. I understood better than anyone. The part that really pissed me off was the fact that he thought he could walk up and say hello like it was nothing. He was totally oblivious to the pain he caused, or he didn’t give a fuck. Either option was enough for me to want to punch him in the face even though I normally wasn’t a very violent man. At least she didn’t let him walk away without ruining his shirt—he deserved worse.

“I told you a bar was a bad idea.” I shook my head back and forth. “I think it’s time you handed over that fake ID.”

“I didn’t drink at all—I mean, I ordered one.” Kacey smirked and a smile spread across her face. “But I already told you what I did with it.”

“I’m serious.” I extended my hand. “You don’t need that kind of temptation. Abby should have known better.”

“She had no idea that Chad would be there.” Kacey scoffed and shook her head.

“That isn’t the point.” I motioned with my hand again. “What would happen if you got pulled over and a cop found it, even if you weren’t drinking? You’d spend the night in jail and end up with a record.”

“You’re the one who bought me a drink the first night we met!” Kacey put her hands on her hips.

“It was a mistake, and that’s different. I would have been the one in trouble, not you.” I looked over to Gabe. “Are you going to back me up here, or just be a fly on the wall?”

“He’s right.” Gabe sighed and nodded. “Look, Harlan and I were your age once too. Sure, we made mistakes, but we don’t want anything happening to you.”

“And if I say no?” Kacey tapped her foot on the floor.

“I’d advise against it.” Gabe raised his eyebrows. “Unless you want another visit from Daddy Harlan. He might not rub your pussy while he spanks you this time.”

“So if I don’t give it up, I get a spanking?” Kacey narrowed her eyes slightly and a grin formed on the edge of her lips.

“Okay, I see how this needs to go.” I walked over and grabbed her by the wrist. “Time for you to take another trip across my knee.”

“Oh no, what a terrible thing to do—please don’t.” Kacey giggled as I started walking.

“I think she likes getting spanked.” Gabe chuckled and followed us into the living room.

“Let’s see how much she likes it when her ass is as red as her panties.” I sat down on the couch and pulled Kacey’s dress up around her waist. “Last chance, are you going to hand over the fake ID or not?”

“Nope.” Kacey wiggled her ass at me. “I guess you’ll just have to punish me for being such a bad girl.”

“Have it your way.” I lifted my hand up and brought it down hard in the middle of her ass.

“Ow!” She bounced on my knee and giggled.

“You’re gonna have to pull her panties down. All you’re doing is teasing her.” Gabe sat down across from us and chuckled.

I quickly pulled Kacey’s panties down to her knees and gave her a few firm smacks. I had no intention of actually hurting her, but she was going to hand over the fake ID before I was done. It was hard enough to be apart from her without worrying that something might happen to her. Technically, what she did to Chad could have resulted in the cops being called, especially if he lashed out. It would have earned him a tombstone with his name on it, but the cops would have still investigated the issue further if they found a twenty-year old girl in a bar that checked ID at the door. It just wasn’t worth the risk, and I had no problem reddening her ass a little bit to make sure she got the message. I gave her a total of ten before I pulled my hand away.

“Is that enough? Are you going to give me the fake ID?” I leaned forward to look at her.

“I thought I was getting a spanking.” She looked over my shoulder and smiled. “You spanked me harder than that when you were just playing with me.”

“See, I told you back then she was a dirty girl.” Gabe grinned and leaned against his chair. “Looks like she’s going to be there for a while.”

“Fine.” I raised my hand and brought it down a little harder.

“Such a tease.” Kacey wiggled her ass and laughed.

I picked up the intensity of the spanking and started moving from one side of her ass to the other with rapid smacks. I finally got a squeal out of her after about te
n more had landed, but I didn’t stop. She was going to feel a little bit of regret before I was done. I couldn’t help getting turned on as I watched her ass slowly turn from pink to red. I wasn’t into hardcore pain, but the feeling of control was nice. Eventually, the sting got too much and she put her hand back. I grabbed her wrist and pinned it to the small of her back, not missing a single smack in the process. I heard a couple of whimpers, then another squeal. I finally felt her pass the point where it wasn’t just a game she was enjoying.

“Okay, I’ll give it up!” She twisted in my grasp and squirmed.

“Now?” I released my grip and leaned back.

“Yes!” She stood up from my knee, rubbed her ass, and picked up her purse. “You could have just taken it if you really wanted it.”

“Oh, it’s more fun this way.” Gabe leaned forward and laughed.

“Here.” She handed me the fake ID.

“See, how hard was that?” I put it in my pocket and glared at her.

“You’re right. I shouldn’t carry it around.” She reached back and rubbed her ass again. “I got the point.”

“Well, I’m glad—but I’m not done making it.” I grabbed her wrist and pulled her across my knee again.

“What? You already spanked me! I gave you what you wanted!” She looked over her shoulder and pouted.

“You took too long.” Gabe shrugged and nodded. “Now you gotta pay the price.”

It was more about making a point than punishing her, plus I felt like she deserved a little reward for standing up to Chad. The spanking had already made her pussy wet, and it was clear that she enjoyed it. I gave her a few firm smacks and then pushed my hand between her legs, strumming her clit with my finger. She lifted up against me and started to moan. I pulled away and gave her a few more smacks before another dose of pleasure. Her body shook and I could feel the orgasm building. It took everything inside me not to take her straight upstairs. I wasn’t even sure we would make it that far. My dick was already engorged in my pants so tight that it hurt. I could see the same look of lust on Gabe’s face as well.
