Into the Fire

by T A. McKay

“Hi, Angel. Did you have fun playing?” She laughs and nods her head.

“It’s been a while since I was able to build a tower that tall.” The chairs around the table all fill as we settle down to eat. There’s more food in front of us than can possibly be eaten, but that is Niamh all over. She is a feeder and all our dinner parties seem to be held here in her and Mason’s house.

“Everything looks fantastic, Niamh. I don’t know how you have time to do all this with a kid. I swear I struggle every day and it’s just me and Rocco.” I go to make a joke about Rocco being worth three kids, but Mason beats me too it.

“Ha, I think you have the biggest kid of all there, Makenzie. So we can’t really blame you for getting nothing done.” Rocco gives Mason the bird as we all laugh at his expense. This is the important part of life for me. The laughter and the food, getting together as a family and spending time with each other. We try and meet at least once a month, but it’s usually more. We don’t like going to long without getting together and sharing everything that’s going on. Life moves quickly and we don’t want to drift apart now that we all have our own families. We all fill our plates with the bounty of food in front of us and start eating while we chat. There are a few conversations going on around the table when Niamh suddenly gets up from the table, running back into the house. We all sit in shock with her sudden departure, watching as Mason races after her. None of us know what to do as we sit waiting on them returning, surely if it was something terrible then they would let us know? We talk quietly amongst ourselves when both Niamh and Mason return to the table, both looking a little pale. I look at Madison and see the look of concern on her face, matching how I'm feeling. Rocco is the first to speak.

“Is everything okay?” Niamh nods as Mason sits next to her with a look of shock. He is actually worrying me with the look on his face, he looks like he’s actually in pain.

“Mason, are you okay? You don’t look well.” Niamh giggles next to Mason, and he turns to look at her, a smile playing at the edge of his lips.

“Yeah, I'm fine … I think.” That didn’t put me at ease at all, but at least he looks a little less like he’s going to be sick. Quinn throws a toy off her high chair and Mason reaches down to get it while Niamh explains.

“Sorry I rushed off, I haven’t been feeling great recently. I have been getting really sick and have been to the doctors.” Shit. If she’s been to the doctors this can’t be good. We have just moved passed Rocco’s medical problems and I didn’t think we would have any more so soon.

“Please tell me you’re not ill?” Makenzie puts her hand on top of Niamh’s as she asks. Niamh laughs before answering and I hope it means that it’s not anything serious.

“No, I’m good. There are going to be some changes coming, but the doctor said I should be as right as rain in about seven months.” It takes a minute for her meaning to sink in, the girls getting it before me going by the screaming coming from them. Shit. Mason’s going to be a dad again.

I look over at Rocco before we both look at Mason, who’s sitting scrubbing his face with both his hands. I burst out laughing, Rocco not far behind me as we listen to Mason groan.

“Shit man, did you not learn the first time? Cover it or something.” I'm happy I managed to get the words out through my laughter.

“Fuck you, Noah. We did cover it, well most of the time.” He turns to look at Quinn, before turning back to us.

“Another kid, I'm sure I can cope with that. Just showing you guys up though, maybe you need to get your dicks checked?” A hand comes out from the mass of cuddling women and smacks Mason on the back of the head. He rubs it, trying to see who the hand belongs to.

“Mason McIntyre, don’t you dare turn this into a pissing contest. We are pregnant because you got drunk and I was still asleep when you started so forgot to mention protection.” I love Niamh, I swear to god that woman is a legend. Mason’s cheeks start to burn with embarrassment as his little secret is told to us. There’s no way I’m ever going to let him live this down.

After everyone congratulating the happy couple we go back to eating. I reach over and hold Madison's hand under the table, making her look at me.

“Happy?” I can’t help but ask her this all the time. I don’t want there to be a time when she isn’t happy, I will do anything I can to make her happy. She smiles at me, making my heart skip a beat.

“Yeah, I'm happy. How could I not be married to you?” She’s sweet, but I know I'm the lucky one. She could have left me after any of my huge fuck ups, but she didn’t, she’s still here with me. I lean forward kissing her lips, it’s been too long since I felt them on mine. This woman does things to me that I can’t explain, she makes all my highs better, and all my lows not so bad. We went through a lot of hassle when Judi found out I was married. She brought a court case against me for half of the house that was sold in London. It was a trying few weeks but she ended up getting nothing. I’d bought the house in my name and before I met her so she had no right to it, and the fact I gave her whatever she wanted from inside it made the judge not entertain any further claims. I had Madison there the whole time holding my hand, knowing she had my back no matter the outcome. That’s what love is about and she proved again why I love her so much.

“When can we go home?” The words are whispered against my lips, causing a tightening in my jeans. I love when she initiates being together, she doesn’t get much chance to do it though. If there is one thing we have come to realise is that in our bedroom I'm in control. We are both perfectly happy with that, but the times that Madison calls the shots, they’re explosive.

“Hurry up and finish what’s on your plate and we’ll leave.” I move my lips to her ear, making sure that no one else can hear us.

“I want to be inside you. I need to be buried so deep that when you scream my name I feel it vibrate through my dick. Do you want that, Angel? Do you want to scream my name?” I feel her heavy breath on my neck as I speak, making my dick even harder. She pulls back and looks into my eyes. She licks her lips, leaving a thin coating of moisture that I just want to suck.

“Yes, Sir. That’s what I want.” Without thinking I stand from the table, my sudden movement making everyone looking at me. I grab Madison's hand and pull her from her seat.

“Sorry, something’s come up and we need to leave. Thank you for dinner, maybe our house next time.” I don’t give anyone a chance to answer before I’m pulling a giggling Madison through the back garden and towards our car. I hear the laughter behind me as we walk away. I don’t think we have ever had a dinner without someone leaving early for ‘personal’ reasons. I think we would be shocked if we all sat there until it was time to leave. I hear Mason talking in his not so quiet voice.

“Yeah, I'm sure something came up. More than likely his dick.” I smile at how correct he is.

We reach the car and I push Madison back against the passenger door, assaulting her lips with the passion that I'm feeling. I know I'm being rough, but it doesn’t put her off as her hands tangle in my hair, pulling me closer. I pull back from the kiss and catch my breath. Her eyes are glazed like she isn’t focusing properly and her chest is rising quickly against mine. This here, in this moment is when Madison is at her most beautiful. Her already plump lips swollen from kisses and her cheeks flushed. I would say she looked thoroughly fucked but that’s still to come.

“I love you, Angel. With every breath I take.” She leans her head against mine, her hands grabbing my hair tighter.

“I love you too, Noah. But I think we need to get home, we have a lot of practicing to do.” I pull back a little, my forehead scrunched up in confusion. If there is one thing we don’t need to practice, it’s sex.

“Practice?” She nods her head, biting her lip.

“I don’t think we will get pregnant straight away, so we might need to practice.” I stand in shock looking at her. She wants to start a family?

“You’re saying yes?” She nods again and
I grab her around the waist, lifting her from the ground and spinning her around. I’m so happy she has decided it’s time for us, I guess the news of Niamh’s pregnancy helped her realise that she wanted that baby now. I put her down on the ground, kissing gently against her lips as I talk.

“Thank. You. I. Love. You. So. Damn. Much.” She giggles and pushes me back.

“Well first you have to show me what you’re made of. I'm sure you made some pretty large promises earlier, but I'm not sure you can live up to them.” She raises her eyebrows, throwing the challenge at me. Oh the naughty little girl, she knows I can’t resist a challenge. I open the passenger door for her, holding it open so she can enter.

“Get in the car, Angel.” She walks closer, preparing to enter the car, but before she does I smack her arse, causing her to cry out. She sits in the seat with a hand rubbing her arse and a huge smile on her face.

When I close her door and make my way around the car to the driver’s side I realise that my life can’t get any better than this. I was always jealous of Rocco and Mason for getting their happy ever after, mine sneaked up on me without me realising it was in front of me the whole time.

  The End

  Acknowledgements

I had moments through this book that I just wanted to throw in the towel and give up. There is a small group of people that have helped me keep my sanity, or as much sanity I have left.

Ellie Aspill: What can I say? The help you provided in this book went above and beyond and I will never be able to say thank you enough. I hope that it wasn’t too stressful working with me. You have really been everything through this book. PA, beta, editor, friend and arse kicker when needed! I could spend the next year saying thank you and it wouldn’t be enough. You are truly an awesome person and it’s been my privilege to work with you. <3

My betas: Fiona, Claire, Lucii, Toni, Laura and Nicole: Thank you for reading Noah and helping me when I wanted to give up. I don’t think you realise how much your words of love for my man helped when I got to the point of giving up.

My little street team: I call you a street team but you’re more like my cheerleaders. You are always there when I needed to bounce ideas around or need something checked. Thank you.

To all the blogs/ authors/ readers who shared all my teasers and shared my sales links…all I can say is a big HUGE thank you! Every time I see something of mine on your pages I have the biggest smile.

To my readers … the biggest thank you has to go to you. You used your money to buy this series, and took time to read them … sometimes more than once. That just blows my mind. When I get messages of love for my men it really makes my day. So thank you, thank you, thank you! I adore you all … and don’t be afraid to get touch with me.

Thank you to The Cosy Reader for hosting my release day blitz.
