Cracking her eyes open, she saw Heath nod. Moving his hand down her body, he slid one long finger between her legs, feeling the wetness that had gathered on her lips. Daphne closed her eyes, arching into his touch. Her whole body seemed to throb with pleasure. Her clit, swollen and sensitive, sent ripples of pleasure all through her, making her writhe and gasp.

Daphne smiled through the haze of her lust – the only time Heath forgot himself enough to stop censoring his swearing was when they were in bed together. “Incredible,” Heath finished for her, as he slowly eased himself down to lie beside her. He reached over, tenderly brushing the dark tendrils of her hair away from her sweaty cheek. “Amazing.”
Daphne leaned over, kissing him gently on his swollen lips. He groaned into the kiss, his arms tightening around her.
Oh, yeah, Daphne thought, grinning against his mouth. This was going to be a long night. In the best way possible.
But first, they both needed to simply lie together, enjoying each other’s warmth, and catching their breath.
“I love you,” Heath said abruptly, after a short silence. “I just realized I never said that. I should have told you long before now. I’ve loved you since the first moment I saw you. I shouldn’t have let you go that first night.”
“You mean at the bar when I walked straight into you?” Daphne laughed. “I know. I mean, obviously I didn’t know a thing about shifters or mates then, but I knew you were special. I couldn’t stop thinking about you. I’d never felt that way before, about anyone. I should have at least given you my number, but I guess I was so freaked out that day…”
Heath smiled. “I guess it always happens when you least expect it.”
Nodding, Daphne pressed a kiss to his cheek. “I don’t mind that you didn’t say it sooner. I think I knew, anyway. But just so you know, I love you too.”
“Well, naturally,” Heath said, grinning at her. “What’s not to love?”
Daphne raised an eyebrow. “Well, for starters, you talk too much, when you should be kissing.”
Heath only laughed. “Yes, ma’am,” he said, before doing what he was told.
As he leaned in to kiss her again, Daphne thought about how fortunate she truly was, despite everything that had happened to her over the past few weeks. She had the family she’d always dreamed of. She had her job. She had her mate. There was nowhere and no one else on earth she would rather be.
As Heath’s kiss deepened, Daphne allowed herself to surrender to bliss and happiness.
He was her mate, and she was his. They’d never be apart again.
From now on, it would be the two of them, together.
Forever.
