“Yeah we did. I will protect her until the end of time!” Kloe told him, snuggling into his chest.

“Since. There aren’t many women in this pack. Does this mean the men have to help plan this baby shower?” One of the men spoke up.

“Good question. I shall expect some volunteers of the male persuasion to help out. After all this child is half wolf and deserves the best.” Kali told them, looking stern.

A groan came over the group and reluctant volunteers stepped forward.

“Now that is over, I will meet with the volunteers in the den, in one hour.” Kali told them.

Gavin couldn’t help but chuckle but stopped when he saw Kali looking at him sternly.

“Gavin, I wouldn’t laugh. You will be volunteering as well. Since you know Kloe the best.” Kali told him. Smiling while handing Shiloh back to her mother and walking off.

Gavin sighed. He looked back at Kloe who was smiling at him. She turned her attention back to Shiloh who she was cradling in her arms.

Liam motioned for Gavin to come with him and he gladly followed. He loved his girlfriend and his child but he needed a break. He walked behind Liam into the kitchen. Liam reached into the cupboard and grabbed two shot glasses and some whiskey.

“I figured you could use a stiff drink.” Liam told him. Filling the shot glasses, he pushed one towards Gavin.

“I don’t normally hit the hard stuff. Especially with a newborn in the other room.” Gavin told him.

“Gavin this is you and I, There is no baby, no girlfriend and defiantly no parents. You are old enough and we have been through hell and survived. Now drink the shot. You deserve it,” Liam told him.

“You are right on several points. Ah, to hell with it!” Gavin grabbed the shot and threw it back. Letting the harsh taste slide down his throat. Feeling like a fire was erupting in his throat. He shook his head and set the glass down.

“There, was that so bad? Do you want another?” Liam asked.

“One more. That’s it because I have to meet with Kali in about forty-five minutes, for Kloe’s baby shower planning,” Gavin told him.

“Do you seriously hear yourself? I revoke your man card.” Liam told him crossing his arms.

“Liam. I won’t even dignify that with a response,” Gavin said, punching Liam in the arm.

“What next? Will you knit booties?” Liam laughed.

“Dude you’re messed up. You know that?” Gavin laughed.

Liam poured them another shot and Gavin tossed his back. This time he welcomed the fire in his throat. It wasn’t so bad the second time around. He still shook his head and looked at Liam who was tossing back his shot. They both set their shot glasses on the table.

“Now tell me. What are your plans? Now that you have a child?” Liam said, pulling out a chair and sitting down.

Gavin thought for a moment. He pulled a chair out and sat down as well. Looking at Liam he told him “In all honesty, I hadn’t thought about it. Now that I do, I would like to return to my pack in Paris. They will want to see our daughter, Shiloh. We have been away for quite some time. More than we originally planned.”

“I see. I shall be honest as well Gavin, many of the pack here have grown to like you and Kloe. I am saddened that you will be leaving us. Please know that should you both come to visit, you are always welcomed here as family. You are very brave, as is her family and herself. Shiloh is the first of her kind. We have never had someone like her. You know you will be protecting her, for as long as she cannot protect herself. Others will fear her and they will panic.” Liam told him.

“Thank you. I know if anyone finds out what she is we will have to be on our guard. Not that we will ever drop our guard. Do you think she will ever unite our kinds as the prophecy said?” Gavin asked.

“I cannot answer that sadly. In time we will find out and if she does, I will be there hopefully, to witness it.” Liam smiled.

“I shall raise her to have a kind heart. Like her mother but to have a strong head on her shoulders.” Gavin told him.

“With you and Kloe I know she will be raised right. Now let’s have one more drink and get you to your lady’s work,” Liam laughed.

They had another shot and left the kitchen together.

  CHAPTER 25

A week later Kali and Kloe were relaxing in the living room, holding Shiloh. Sadly, Kloe and Gavin had made plans to leave for Paris, to return to their pack.

“I can’t believe you are leaving for Paris tomorrow Kloe. I shall miss you so much and this tiny little miracle of yours.” Kali told her picking up Shiloh from Kloe’s arms and holding her close.

“I know. I hate to leave. Our pack misses us and we miss them. I can’t wait for them to meet Shiloh, honestly. Kali I want you to know you have been like a sister to me. I shall never forget you.” Kloe told her.

“You’re going to make me cry Kloe. I wish you had let us throw a baby shower.” Kali told her, patting Shiloh’s back gently.

“There just isn’t enough time. We have no idea how fast she will grow or if she will age normally. I just didn’t want to waste everyone’s time. While also torturing the men in the house.” Kloe laughed.

“Well we appreciate it.” Liam’s voice came from behind them, in the doorway where he was leaning on the doorframe.

“Oh hush, Liam!” Kali said, sticking out her tongue.

Kloe got up and excused herself. Grabbing Shiloh’s bottle and heading for the kitchen. She went straight for the fridge. Pulling one of the bags of blood out and opening the baby bottle. Opening the blood bag and pouring it into the bottle. Shiloh was still only drinking blood. She was gaining weight, so the diet was helping her. She had spoken to their pack leader in Paris. A doctor was set up for them when they arrived to care for their daughter. Of course, their pack leader was rather shocked to hear the news. He agreed to a full explanation when they arrived. As much as Kloe loved her new friends, she longed for Paris. At times, she wanted to go home to her parents, but she knew she had to fend for herself and her new family now. She wondered if Gavin would be in a hurry to marry her. She already expected him to pop out a ring soon. She pulled out a pan. Filled it halfway with water and put it on the stove burner. She turned it on high and set the bottle in it. She grabbed it after it had been a few minutes. Testing it then putting it back in the water. The water began to boil. She took it out again, testing it on her wrist. She turned the stove off, forgetting to dump out the bank and went back to the living room.

Kloe sat signaling to Kali to hand her Shiloh. Kali took the bottle and put it in her mouth. Kloe sighed and leaned back. She figured that Kali wanted her last moments with Shiloh. Since they were leaving tomorrow there was no reason to make a fuss over who was feeding her. There was no harm. Kloe got up and stepped out of the room to call her parents. She wanted to arrange for the private jet to fly them to Paris. It was a minor detail she had forgotten in the last week, due to how busy she had been. They were easy enough. It would be here tomorrow and fuelled up to take them to Paris. Her mother had asked to speak to her to check on her and Shiloh. Kloe made it clear they were fine. Kloe hung up and rejoined Kali and Shiloh on the couch.

“It’s getting late I should put Shiloh to bed,” Kloe told Kali.

“Yeah I know. I am just going to miss her little smiles.” Kali told her, looking sad.

“Don’t be sad. We can still video chat and I shall send photos if you like,” Kloe told her.

“That would be nice thank you Kloe,” Kali told her.

Kloe got up taking Shiloh from Kali. She made her way to their room and placed Shiloh in her bed. Kloe went and lay down on the bed. She was asleep in minutes. She woke later to the door opening. She saw Gavin coming in, he tip-toed around Shiloh’s bed and joined Kloe. He lay down, putting his arm over Kloe and they fell asleep.
