It was like the weight that had been on his chest for the past day crumbled to the floor. “Yes” He reached for her, pressing a kiss to her lips. “Yes. Yes.” He felt her tentative smile. “But don’t leave like that again.”

“I won’t.” She shook her head. “I promise.”

“So you got the job?” He raised his eyebrows.

She gave an excited nod. A smile spread across his lips, so wide that his face hurt. He’d loved, lost, and ached more than he ever dreamed he was capable. While the absence of Di left a wound that would never fully heal, Ronan saw the present differently now. His life stretched out before him with endless possibilities–and in every future he imagined, Amy Sinclair was right beside him.

The sound of the philharmonic swelled underneath the pavilion. The night sky looked like crushed velvet as it stretched towards the mountains. Amy craned her neck up, looking for familiar constellations.

The weather had warmed, bringing the smell of spring with it. Amy rubbed her arms; even in LA in May, it still felt cool at night. Not like Arizona, though. When Ronan had gone back on tour, she had visited him in Phoenix. The desert had stretched in all directions with the red sandstone arching over them. The nights had dropped from warm to cool to freezing, all within a few hours. It had given her a good reason to snuggle closer to him in bed.

That had been before he had renegotiated his contract with the label. Now, he was doing the type of shows that he loved: smaller, more intimate. It had the added benefit of being close to home.

Amy smiled to herself, knowing that they could grab dinner for breakfast in a couple of hours at one of the 24 hour diners near their apartment. No matter how complicated their schedules got at times, one thing was simple enough. They loved each other… and that was worth everything.
