CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE
Elaine paused; it was difficult for her to continue.
“Would you like something?” Connery asked her. “Something to drink?”
“No, I’m fine,” she said. “I just want to get this over with.”
“I can understand that. Take your time.”
Nodding, she closed her eyes for a minute and drew in a deep breath. She let it out slowly. “I’m all right now,” she said.
“Good.”
“I was worried about Tasia the night she tried to kill herself, but I didn’t know how to help her. You see, I have this terrible habit of walking away whenever I feel as if my advice isn’t being appreciated. So, once again, I turned my back on the whole messed up situation and went to get some sleep.”
