Xenia’s Renegade

“Good night, Aunt Chapa. I’ll bank the fire then we’ll be going to bed, too.”

In a matter of minutes, Ty pulled Xenia to him in their big bed. “Stay close and we’ll stay warmer.”
“I like being close to you even when we don’t need the warmth.”
He kissed the top of her head. “Xenia, do you realize what a happy man you make me every day?”
“I’m just as happy. When I came west to help an uncle I thought was in trouble, I never dreamed I’d meet the man of my dreams.”
“I guess in spite of everything, Seymour did us a favor without meaning to. At least your coming out here was a way for us to meet.”
“That’s true.”
“Yep, when I climbed on that stagecoach, I knew you were pretty and I liked teasing you, but I didn’t have any inkling that you would capture my heart.”
“And I thought you were a rough, tough cowboy I could never like even though I thought you were the most handsome man I’d ever seen.”
He chuckled. “I knew I was attracted to you when you kept loading those rifles in the way station. Then I touched your hands when I was showing you how to milk and I knew I was in trouble.”
“Trouble, huh?”
“Yeah. It didn’t take you long to turn a fellow everyone always called a renegade into a settled man who will become a father in about four months.”
“I wouldn’t say you’re completely settled.” She snuggled closer to him and began sprinkling kisses on his chest. “Makes me wonder if our son will be a renegade like his father.”
“Or if our daughter will be as stubborn and daring as her mother.”
She laughed. “I’m sure if it’s a girl, she will be—because I’ll teach her how to get everything she wants and needs in life.”
“Do you have everything you want and need in life, Xenia?”
“I might want a couple of more children after this one, but I have everything I need.”
“So do I, my love. You fill all my needs.” He moved over her and began covering her with kisses. “Before I make love to my wife, tell me what it is that has filled all your needs.”
“That’s simple, my love.” She returned his kiss. “What now fills, and will always fill, my needs is my renegade.”
