One's True Love

  He may have been drunk but he knew it was wrong to accept this. Trenton shoved Beth lightly but it still landed her on her bum in front of the couch Trenton was on. This time he really messed up because when he stood looking back toward the light switch stood a shocked tear soaked Kailee.

  After the lovely discussion with Michelle, Kailee was allowed to leave. She decided she would first apologize to Trenton for being so hard on him. He did after all come to help her through the terrible ordeal in the woods.

  Using her wolf’s tracking skills she scented him down. The wonderful woodsy scent lead into the theatre. She pushed open the door with a low thud as it smacked against the wall. Instantly Trenton’s delicious woodsy scent was mixed with the scent of too much perfume and female arousal. The female moaned and breathed heavily as she ground against the guy.

  She flicked on the lights to find the back of Trenton’s head against the couch grunting in pleasure. A skanky looking blond with her breast practically hanging out of her shirt slid back and forth on top of him for a moment before he shoved her backward and stood up.

  She landed on the floor with a thud and a big scowl forming on her lips. She looked up at Kailee and smiled evilly. “Hey Kai…” she giggled. As tears fell down Kailee’s face she turned out the door to run.

  That’s it I am through. I don’t care what they try to do to me. I don’t care if he can’t live without me. He can have that slut but he’s not getting me.

  She ran through the house toward freedom of the forest. As she passed through the dining room, an arm grabbed hold of her wrist. “Shit. Kailee what’s wrong.” Jake pulled her to a stop.

  “Ask that jerk” she pointed back toward Trenton who was tearing down the hall in their direction. Jake’s eyes went wide at the frustrated man. He had heard his roar earlier and knew it was not the time to get involved. He looked back at Kailee still holding her in place.

  “Give him a chance.” He whispered softly to her as she struggled to pry herself away. Jake just held her firm and handed her to Trenton’s grasp. Trenton pulled her in firmly to hug.

  “Kailee it’s not what you think.” Trenton began.

  “I don’t give a crap what it was. She was trying to have sex with you and you let her sit there and try. If I would have come in, five minutes from now you would be all hot and sweaty with her.”

  “I’m. sor.r.y.” He slurred.

  “And your drunk!” she barked at him as the door to the back yard began to slide open, Lilly stepped in it. This was her opportunity for escape Kailee shifted causing Trenton to lose his grasp as her body. Shifting into her wolf she dashed out the door, surprising and Lilly nearly knocking her down.

  She slung her head around slightly just in time to see the massive black wolf collide with the glass door sending shards flying in all directions. He was followed closely behind by the large chocolate brown wolf with white paws. Jake.

  Kailee’s red and white wolf rushed into the surrounding trees as fast as she could. She could hear barks and yips from behind her. She blocked out any connection to Trenton; so she couldn’t figure out what they were saying to each other but it just meant run to her.

  Her feet pounded the dirt causing small dust clouds to whirl around her feet. Kailee could hear the paw beats of another wolf close by. He growled and nipped at her feet and when he grabbed her tail she yelped. Trenton’s feet planted into the ground firmly as he skidded to a stop tugging Kailee by the tail back to him.

  She whipped her head around and nipped at his muzzle causing surprise to pass over the black wolf, he dropped the red and white wolf tail. Kailee whipped off through the woods this time dodging and pouncing between trees. Her body was smaller and sleeker making it easier to dodge through the trees while Trenton and Jake followed at a slower pace.

  Kailee thought she was free these guys couldn’t match her speed especially in the density of the forest. She broke through into a massive clearing of wildflowers and a large clear blue pond in the middle. She skidded to a halt in front of the pond and looked back toward the trees.

  Trenton and Jake stood just outside the tree line with big wolfish grins on their face. The big black wolf began to stalk forward his posture was ready for a fight his fur bristled and he growled a low rumbling deep down in his chest.

  “Don’t hurt her.” Jake called as he shifted back. Obviously Trenton wasn’t quite listening to his mind link either.

  Trenton shifted mid step as he watched Kailee crouch down slightly in submission. “Why the hell would I hurt her she’s my mate, remember.” He growled angrily toward Jake. “Leave now Jake. We’re good. Right Kailee?” Trenton cocked his head slightly at her as a small smile formed on his lips.

  Her eyes were full of worry, would he hurt her. He was drunk after all, but maybe the run cleared up his head slightly. She wanted to run to him and submit to his every demand. Kailee nodded her head carefully as she shifted back. “We’re good. Jake.” she half smiled. There’s no way Trenton is going to let me get out of this. She thought as she looked at his weary expression.

  Twelve

  Kailee turned from Trenton as she walked closer to the watery edge. Sitting on a small rock she dipped her bare feet into the cool water. Trenton watched but was unsure of what to do. The big strong alpha male was crumbling at the sight of a woman.

  “Kailee… I …” Trenton began.

  “Just let’s sit quietly for a few moments. Let me calm down.” Kailee’s voice was soft just barely above a whisper but Trenton heard her plea and walked over to her rock, sitting down next to her. For a long time they sat not saying a word; just breathing in the scent of each other’s company.

  “I was just going to come and apologize to you, for being so nasty to you when you came after me and helped me through my troubled times.” Kailee sighed. “I think if I would have waited for a few more minutes I might have been free to go home after you marked that whore.” she cried out.

  “I’m sorry, Kailee, I didn’t do anything with her I promise. I was drunk and she was trying to get in my pants but I told her to get lost. I really want nothing to do with her. I…I was drinking to rid myself of the pain I caused you. Kailee I… I’m so sorry. Please. Kailee Please look at me baby.”

  Kailee’s eyes tilted up toward Trenton. The pain and hurt he saw in them nearly made him break, Kailee’s eyes were glossed over and tears began to spill. He reached for her and brought her into his chest; begging her for forgiveness.

  “Your mother explained things, pretty well I think.” Kailee began.

  “Really?” Trenton’s face contorted into curiosity and confusion all in one.

  “Your mother; she told me you will die without me” Kailee cringed.

  “I would never force you Kailee,” Trenton’s voice was hard as his body shook slightly from his anger. “But yes.”

  “Will you really die without me?” Kailee cried.

  “Yes. Baby. I will if you choose to leave me since my wolf has connected with you and chosen you for a mate marking you with the mark of my wolf along your…” Trenton’s eyes slid to Kailee’s hips and his body became more aroused imagining what was underneath. “Uh… yeah. If you decide to leave and not mate with me I will die within a month maybe. You will be able to leave and go back to your own pack but you will slowly get sick and your body will begin to crumble away as well. It might take a year or two after I am gone.” Kailee cringed at his words. “But you will eventually die too.” Trenton sighed. “I will not force you but I do not wish this fate on either of us.” His voice was sincere and Kailee knew it. “I am sorry about Beth. She will be dealt with appropriately when we get back. Please Kailee, I… ah… I …” Trenton murmured.

  “Say it Trenton.” Kailee mumbled as she stood and began to walk away. She was naked. It would take some getting used to, shifting and destroying all your clothing. She ran her hands across her body trying to warm herself as she irked her finger toward him.

ked at her stunned. This is not what he wanted. He wanted her but not this way. He wanted to make love to her passionately not in the dingy forest. She smiled at his discomfort and ran past him jumping into the water of the lake with a splash.

  “What are you doing?” Trenton called to her when her head breached the surface.

  “Swimming. Now. If you can say it you can come in the water with me.” Kailee smiled as she swam further from the shower.

  “I LOVE YOU!” Trenton screamed. “I LOVE KAILEE!” He roared again as he raced toward the water’s edge.

  When Trenton rose from the water Kailee splashed him playfully as she swam away. Trenton chuckled and swam after her. When Kailee began to stop and turned around he dove under the water to surprise her.

  He grabbed around her waist and pulled her close as he rose from the water. He smiled when she yelped in surprise and began to squirm. “Hey… no … fair.” she complained finally breaking her slippery body free then splashing him another time before swimming away.

  She swam as fast as she could until she neared the large rock on the far side of the lake. She leaned back against the rocks and watched as every stroke of Trenton’s muscled arms pulled her closer.

  “Stay back!” She warned stifling a giggle.

  “I don’t think I can do that Kailee.” Trenton teased. “I’m going to punish you for that splash.”

  “I’ll do it again.” She taunted as Trenton neared. She began to move her arms forcing the water to splash toward Trenton but it was too late. He dove under the water; upon his accent he caught her body again in his massive arms. He slid his fingers up her soft body until he was too her waist which he began to press himself onto her.

  Kailee could feel his whole body crushing her into the massive boulder. His heat comforted her against the cool water. One hand held her around the waist pressing her continuously closer to him and his other hand softly rested on her cheek.

  Kailee’s eyes closed and she pressed her head gently against the rock just breathing and relaxing as Trenton’s grasp held her. “I love you.” Trenton murmured into Kailee’s ear sending chills down her spine. He pulled his head away and kissed Kailee’s jaw then sliding his lips across her soft skin then sucked gently on her bottom lip.

  Kailee moaned slightly from the pleasure as her eyes opened. Trenton released her lip and whispered his lips across her jawbone once again. “I will not take you here but I will when we get back if you want me…” he whispered seductively in her ear making her hot with desire.

  Trenton smiled and pushed off the rock as he swam back to the shore. Kailee breathed heavy for a moment then pushed off after him. Trenton stepped from the water his chest gleaming with water droplets. He was naked.

  When Kailee reached the shore she froze momentarily realizing she had no clothing. Trenton smiled. “Come on, Angel, I have already seen your beautiful body and felt your soft skin under my touch.” he extended his hand to her which she shyly took.

  Kailee blushed as she rose from the water stark naked. Trenton grinned. Before she could get away Trenton pulled her into his warm embrace. “Shift and run with me” His eyes plead for her to say yes.

  Kailee shifted into her small framed red and white wolf without a hesitation. She pranced around playfully waiting for Trenton to do the same. “You’re beautiful wolf and human. You are a picture of perfection, just a sight to behold. Gorgeous.” He whispered just before he shifted into his big black wolf.

  He towered over Kailee’s small body. She nuzzled his chest with her muzzle and Trenton purred happily looking down at her. When their eyes met and his muzzle was near she licked him and then dashed off into the woods.

  Trenton’s wolf growled playfully enjoying his mate playing with him and he took chase. His massive body stood little chance against Kailee’s full speed small frame but she was playing. Trenton easily caught up with Kailee and nips playfully at her paws. Within a blink Kailee dashed off into another direction and was gone. Trenton growled when he couldn’t see her anymore. Why is she running off alone? Doesn’t she know it is dangerous?

  Kailee purred playfully with herself she knew what she was doing. She turned around a tree and came up behind the big black wolf. Silently she sped up to him grabbing hold of his tail. Making him growl out of surprise. Trenton’s paws stopped moving instantly grinding into the dirt as he whipped around and glared at whatever object dared to grab his tail.

  His low rumbling was cut off when his red bundle of fur plumbed into him. His hard sturdy body didn’t even flinch at the impact. Yet a low purring rumble formed in his chest as he looked upon her body between his front legs.

  Bending his head down; his ears laid flat as he licked her. He nudged her slightly to get her up and on her feet. They walk side by side as their fur brushed each other. Playfully they nudged each other until the house comes into view. Kailee shifted mid step and reached to pet Trenton’s fur. His massive head rubbed against her shoulder that’s when he smells it.

  Trenton’s deep throaty growl rumbled across his territory making Kailee whimper. Then Trenton nudged her behind him.

  Thirteen

  The scent of unknown visitors, werewolves filled Trenton’s nostrils. Why were they here? Who are they? He thought to himself.

  He growled again and Kailee shifted back to her small wolf as Trenton voiced to her “Strangers are here all wolves. Be alert and vigilant. Stay behind me.” He demanded as he shifted into his human form.

  “Okay.” Kailee’s conscious voice was shaky even though it was not out loud. She didn’t know what to expect so she cowered into Trenton’s side as they walked toward the house. She could smell them as well but didn’t know who they were.

  Trenton tapped his mind into those of his family inside the house. They were happy and overjoyed but that was the extent of his search. It confused him. Who were these strangers?

  Trenton slid open the dining room door and stepped inside, Kailee shortly behind. They could hear giggles and laughter coming from the conference room. Kailee looked up at Trenton and her lips began to form a smile when she recognized on person’s voice. She bolted toward the conference room. Trenton growled, shifted and ran right on her heels fearing to have his mate too far away with strangers in the house.

  All the voices stopped when Kailee burst in through the doors.

  Michelle and Nicholas, Trenton’s parents, smiled happily at the pair as well as Lilly, Jake, and Mason. “OH MY GOODNESS!” Kailee squealed as she shifted and ran toward her best friend. Jade had returned the squeal and rushed toward her.

  “How have you been, Kailee?” a soft feminine voice of Kailee’s mother, Sarah, asked.

  “Rough start but we’re doing well now.” Kailee smiled as she looked up at Trenton. He lovingly placed a blanket around Kailee’s shoulders and then wrapped a towel around his waist.

  Inside the large conference room Trenton’s family; Michelle, Nicholas, Mason, and Lilly sat, along with the familiar faces of Jake and a few other higher pack men. They were intertwined with Kailee’s family. Kailee began to introduce them to Trenton.

  “Trenton, this is my mom and dad, Sarah and John. My best friend, Jade. My brother Jordan and this is uh?” a guy she didn’t know sat next to Jade happily. Kailee’s smile contorted to one of confusion at the young man.

  “This is Caleb.” Trenton said with a shrug. “He’s of our pack which you haven’t met yet.”

  Jade beamed as she curled her body into him. “We just met! He’s my mate” she smiled brightly.

  “Oh wow! I am so happy for you.” Kailee smiled.

  “Looks like your friend will become part of our pack.” Trenton said with a grin. He knew it would make Kailee happy not being alone.

  The time flew; Kailee had forgotten how much she had missed her family in the few weeks, but they were here now.

  “Why are all of you here?” Kailee questioned.

  “For your birthday, dear.” Her father had announced. Kaile
e’s face lit up. “We are all going out to dinner together and then your mother and Michelle are going to discuss the wedding with you two.”

  Right. Kailee thought. For a short while she had forgotten about the wedding plans. But she was falling in love with Trenton and she thought maybe he would make a great husband, mate, and maybe someday father.

  “Go get dressed and we will met you too out by the car.” Michelle suggested.

  “Yes ma’am.” Kailee nodded.

  Trenton chuckled and nudged his mate up the stairs and to their room. “You’re all right.” Trenton smirked.

  “I know…” Kailee drawled.

  “You will be an alpha soon and my mother will be below you in the pack, everyone in the pack except me will be below you.” Trenton smiled as he pulled her close once more. “Now…” he said “hurry and get dressed before we make them wait longer than they had planned.” Trenton teased as he yanked the blanket from Kailee’s grasp. Once they were finished they walked together down to the front of the house where the car sat.

  Everyone was waiting out at the hummer limo which was parked in the driveway for Kailee and Trenton. It was a shiny black. Trenton and Kailee entered and sat at the far back with Jake, Lilly and Mason on one side and Jade, Caleb and Jordan on the other. Both sets of parents sat near the doors and chatted mindlessly together.

  They ended up at a very nice restaurant in the center of town. Italian. Over dinner the mothers discussed with Kailee how the wedding was planned to take place in one week. Previously they had discussed the flower arrangements, food varieties, the location, and decorations but they have not chosen a dress for her because they figured she would want to choose one for herself. The mothers were actually quite close and had been speaking often about how Kailee and Trenton were getting along.

  Kailee’s parents told her they would be staying until the day after the wedding. They had decided that it was pointless to return home then come back right away and Michelle had told Kailee that tomorrow they had planned a girl’s day to pick out a wedding dress and the brides maids dresses.
