One's True Love Page 11

by Lindsey Owens

Overall Kailee tried on fifteen dresses finally settling on an off-white slender fit long trained gown which was covered in delicate and intricately designed lace. The top of the gown had long slender straps and dipped low down her chest in a v-style. It was perfect and when she turned around to notice the back she purred happily, it had the long plunging back which she wanted from the first dress.

Kailee walked into the waiting area. A large very attentive guard stepped forward and offered her a hand as she stepped up onto the pedestal. She twirled around to show to the mothers, guards and her friends. The guards purred in excitement and Kailee sent them warning glares. Gale had brought out a few veils for her to choose from. Kailee had decided on a long traditional veil with a princess tiara which held it into place. The tiara was covered in beautiful sparkling diamonds and sparkled magnificently.

The shoes she selected were a matching off-white strappy heals which laced up her legs. They wouldn’t be seen until Trenton pulled of her garter but still they would boost herself esteem. Gale had insisted on a specialty garter that was made specifically for their alpha as dictated by Michelle, it had the bright purple color that Kailee had loved from earlier, delicate lace and silk ribbon danced around it beautifully.

When Kailee’s turn was finally through the mothers showed her the gowns they had chosen both were a purple color one lighter and the other a darker but both were similar in appearance signifying them both being mothers of the marring couple. Jade and Lilly had chosen dresses that were fun and playful and had a slight puffiness to them they were a light yell and a light pink which Kailee found delightful. She wanted her friends to choose the colors they wanted but she was still happy that the mothers had chosen to pick something she liked.

After they finished with the dress shopping the women and the guards went to the most beautiful restaurant in the city. It was decorated with trees and plants and looked on the inside just like a jungle. Mist curled along the floor as they walked through the aisles and a light jungle themed music played in the back ground.

After eating a healthy amount of lunch they decided that Kailee needed to find her wedding jewelry and choose her cake. They stopped at Trenton’s favorite jeweler.

Once again the large guards helped Kailee slip from the limo to a standing position. Each took their turn standing by her side as they walked throughout the day, ready to defend and protect at any cost.

Kailee’s eye lit up as they walked into the store. Brightly sparkling diamonds graced nearly every cabinet. Kailee trailed her fingers along the brightly lit display cases her eyes settling on the large diamond rings. Then as quickly as her eyes had found them she trailed off to the necklaces and bracelets. Michelle had purchased a white gold purple diamond necklace and matching diamond studded cuff bracelets for Kailee. She had watched closely as Kailee gawked shyly at the rings and knew exactly which she wanted her son to purchase.

Once they were through with the jewelry store they continued on to the bakery. Kailee had insisted on sampling the cake flavors which was expected but she had also insisted that the guards did as well. “Well I don’t have Trenton’s opinion in cake so I want a male’s opinion.” She had told them as she sat down waiting for them to sit with her.

Each of the large men blushed and the three which were consistently surrounding Kailee sat down at the table amongst her and waited without a word. She smiled warmly and nodded. “Thank you.” She beamed.

“This is chocolate cake with Chantilly cream layered with a butter cream frosting.” the baker had announced placing a cake in front of each of the people sitting at the table.

They marked their cards and the listened as the baker announced the next “White cake with strawberries and cream filling.”

This continued with another eight flavors. Kailee took in account everyone’s opinions and told the baker her choice. She thanked her for the samples and walked with her guards back to the limo. The mothers had mentioned that most of the details were already planned but had also mentioned that the flowers and food choices would be discussed at home.

Michelle and Sara quickly followed after Kailee and watched as her motions were slowed and tired looking compared to the earlier morning. They couldn’t help themselves as they remembered their similar times when they were younger and smiled.

After everyone filed into the limo the driver headed back to the mansion. The ride was filled with quiet chatter but Kailee just stared out the window in silence.

At home a florist was waiting along with the caterer whom was hired for the wedding. With the flower chose Kailee moved quickly onto the food and insisted Trenton sit with her and discuss it. They had ordered pizza for everyone since even the pack house cook had been getting ready for the wedding and was busy most of the day.

“Are you tired my love,” Trenton questioned softly as he lifted his mate into his arms and began walking toward their room. But before they had reached it Kailee’s eyes were already heavy with sleep.

He laid her down on the bed and crawled into it with her. Smiling as he listened to the beat of the hearts inside her that thrummed him to sleep.

  Chapter

  Eighteen

Kailee woke the next morning with an urge to rush to the bathroom. She could feel the bile surging up her throat and she ran. Trenton noticed her sudden movements and rushed after her. He held her hair back as she emptied her stomach into the toilet once more.

When she was through Trenton eased her up setting her down on the small window bench and brought her a wash cloth. Kailee washed her face with the cool wet cloth as Trenton gathered some supplies. He held her body gently as she walked to the sink to rinse her mouth and brush her teeth, as her legs trembled beneath her and she felt weak.

When Kailee was finished Trenton scooped her up and carried her to the bedroom once again. “How about we take you to the pack doctor?” Trenton asked. He had felt he knew the answer and he could hear the faint beats inside her. The mothers had also confirmed his suspicions but he wanted to have her checked to make sure she was okay.

“I think that would be alright.” Kailee sighed as Trenton handed her some clothes to put on. He helped her stand when she was finished but lifted her up into his strong arms afterward. When they got downstairs to the kitchen the mothers were waiting patiently for the couple to sit down. Lilly had called the pack doctor for Kailee while Jade fixed her some dry toast and sprite.

“Kailee,” Sarah spoke. “I believe you are pregnant my dear.” She was cautious yet blunt at the same moment. Trenton tensed and turned to Kailee worried she would have a panic attack.

Kailee’s eyes went wide then returned to their normal size as she looked down to her belly and rubbed her hand gently across it. “Yeah… I know.” Was all she replied. It wasn’t a sad expression which crossed her face but a happy one. “Sorry Trenton I didn’t tell you. I could feel something different and I thought for a few days I was just sick but I am pretty sure now, are you okay with that?” She questioned nervously.

Trenton turned to her with a big smile. “Of course, my love. I can’t wait. I love children and I love you.”

“Trenton will become a full alpha when your children are born. You will be the full alpha then as well. The strength of both of you will increase and I am sure that it will be immensely strong.” Michelle spoke confidently.

Lilly returned with a time for Trenton to take Kailee to the doctor after breakfast; then sat down to eat along with the others. They finished quickly because Kailee really didn’t eat much. Trenton carried Kailee the two miles over to the doctor’s house so she didn’t have to tire further. His worry was growing.

The doctor’s house was also his office. It was on the far side of the village surrounded by flowers and beautiful trees that Trenton insisted the doctor’s wife had planted.

“Good morning Alphas.” the doctor announced as he opened the door allowing them inside. “Please set her over there on the examining table.” the doctor insisted.
r />   “We think she is pregnant with pups.” Trenton smiled at the doctor.

“Oh…. I am sure she is the hormones are strong. I will need to take an ultrasound and a few tests.” The doctor insisted as he began to get equipment out.

He insisted Kailee lay back. Her shirt was tucked up under her breasts and the small device was pressed to her stomach. She flinched at the cool instrument causing Trenton to growl until she pressed her hand to his.

“It looks like we have a large litter here.” The doctor smiled. “This is an amazing thing” the doctor beamed. “Do you want to know their sex?” He asked.

“You can tell that already?” Kailee questioned.

“Yes, with weres it’s possible. Your pregnancy is considerably shorter than a normal human. Pregnancies follow the wolf side of your body. Your pregnancy will only last sixty-three days. So another few weeks and you will be ready to let them out.”

“Oh!” Kailee reacted, surprised and turned to Trenton for her answer. “Ah… would you like to know?”

“It’s up to you my love. It is much easier to plan things if you know what you’re having. I am sure Lilly, Jade, and both our mothers will be dying to take you shopping but it is up to you on whether you want to know or not.” Trenton explained. As long as they were healthy he didn’t quite care if she had boys or girls. They would have to keep trying for more if a boy wasn’t produced but that was okay with him. It wasn’t normal for an alpha to pass on to a female so it was just preferred to have a boy for an alpha if there was a choice. Most females didn’t want the job anyway but he would gladly share it with his daughters if that was the case.

Kailee’s words broke through his thoughts as she spoke to the doctor. “Yes I would like to know.” She cooed.

“Okay. Well….let’s see. There are three of them.”

“Three!” Kailee shrieked out in shock. “Oh my gosh! Really triplets?”

“Well yes. It is quite common for Alphas to have many babies. Usually a litter of pups up to five at a time. More common though to have twins. Well any way. This one is a small girl, and this one…. is a girl as well, and this other is a ….” The doctor said as he moved the wand around Kailee’s belly. “A girl as well. All girls. Three girls.” He looked sadly at Trenton but Trenton just smiled at him and shrugged.

“Oh…” Kailee replied then looked over at Trenton nervously. She knew a male would be who would take the alpha position, well, she assumed most fathers wanted a boy; someone to teach boy things too and rough house with. “I… I’m sorry Trenton.” She whimpered as she lowered her head away from him. Her eyes brimmed with tears threatening to spill over.

“My love. It’s okay to have all girls. I will love them the same. Besides if we want a boy we can try again. I know how fun it was the last time.” He grinned as he pulled Kailee’s face up to meet his. He pressed his lips to hers and kissed her passionately.

“If you don’t mind, please bring her back every other week. Here is a list of medicine I need her to take and foods to avoid.” The doctor handed a paper to Trenton. The tests had showed that she needed her prenatal medicine as well as iron and calcium supplements to keep her healthy.

The doctor had spoke to them about her tiredness explaining that usually when a she-wolf is expecting an alpha gene male her body is quite tired during the pregnancy, but he suspected that she was exceptionally tired because of the amount of babies she was carrying and told her to rest as much as possible. After the wedding Kailee would be off her feet most of the day—Trenton nodded and thanked the doctor.

Then they made their way back home Trenton carrying Kailee the whole way again. Kailee settled into Trenton’s chest with a content purr as his warmth comforted her. How would she be able to tell her mother about the three girls let alone disappoint the pack with giving them only females? She couldn’t wait to be a mother. She always loved children and Trenton seemed to love them as well. He would be a great father.

When they arrived back at the pack house all their family was gathered at the dining room table waiting eagerly for them. “Well?” was busted out from multiple lips as they entered.

“Triplets” Kailee breathed as Trenton set her down on a chair.

“WOW!” “Really!” and “What’s the sex?” were shouted out as Trenton settled down beside Kailee’s now tensing body.

“We are proudly having three girls” Trenton spoke up relieving Kailee’s tension.

“All girls.” Trenton’s mother scoffed. “Who will you pass the pack onto … a girl doesn’t get the alpha gene!” Michelle screeched.

Trenton’s fists pounded onto the table. “It doesn’t matter because if you aren’t nicer to my mate you will not live to see the day I pass it on!” He growled as his body hovered over the table glaring at her.

Kailee’s reassuring hand closed gently around Trenton’s enclosed clenched fist. His tension began to release from his fists but not before he pounded the table once more. The table groaned letting out a loud cracking noise as he pulled his chair back and lifted Kailee up then walked away.

Nobody dared to speak up they just stared after the angry alpha. Even his mother knew better than to talk like that about an alpha’s mate but she still let it slip and now… nobody was going to get any answers.

The rest of the day Kailee and Trenton spent watching movies and relaxing. He had asked the chef to prepare light healthy meals for Kailee’s pregnant body and told him to bring her pills along with him at dinner. Trenton held Kailee firmly to his chest; she breathed lightly nearly falling asleep as she leaned into him.

He was thrilled to have her by his side and would be even more ecstatic to have three little girls to teach and play with. They would be treated as princesses; nearly anything their hearts desired would be given to them. Around dinner time the chef had prepared the table and Trenton carried Kailee out for dinner. He had told Jake and Mason to assure that they were left in peace for the rest of the day. He didn’t want to deal with his mother anymore today.

They ate their meals of chicken and rice, salad and milk before returning to rest in the theatre. Another movie and it was time to get up to their room. Trenton carried his beautiful mate with her belly full of his pups up to their room to rest for the night. He secured Jake and Mason at the doorway before he kissed her goodnight and went down stairs to his study to tend to a few alpha duties.

It was nearly midnight before he made his way up to his room. Jake and Mason still stood patiently waiting. He nodded to the men a thank you and told them they could return to their mates and rest for the night; they were relieved from their duties for the night. They thank him. Trenton slipped inside his room. Kailee’s body was fidgeting and wiggling but still slept. He slid off his jeans, then climbed into the bed. Kailee reached over and curled her body into his warmth and comfort. Trenton slid easily into sleep as he listened to the beats of Kailee and his new babies’ hearts.

  Chapter

  Nineteen

It had been a few days since Kailee had made it to the pack doctor’s office. She had barely left their room resting as much as possible. Whenever she wanted to go anywhere Trenton would carry her carefully to the destination.

In only a few more days would be the wedding and after that Kailee would be on strict rest. Yet she felt too tired to put up a fight, she just settled with Trenton and her guards carrying her from place to place.

Trenton had insisted she show up for meals even though he carried her down there and back to her room when she was tired. Her belly was growing quickly, restricting her movement greatly. Her weight was nearly doubled all in just her belly.

When it was time to return to the doctor’s office Kailee waddled herself into the bathroom taking a short shower, brushed her hair and teeth, pulled on yoga pants and a maternity top her mother had purchased for her. Trenton scooped her up into his arms and carried her down the long path to the doctor’s home. He had barely left her side ever since they had arrived home after the first visit a
nd when he didn’t have a choice but to leave, he left a large number of guards tending to her door.

“Welcome back dear” the doctor greeted Kailee as she waddled through the door.

Trenton held out his hand to Kailee as she scooted up onto the examination table. Her shirt was again tucked up and her pants tucked down leaving her bountiful belly exposed. The scanner again picked up three babies. Strangely enough the doctor had focused long and hard on the small one that was inside.

One of the pups was nearly half the size of the others. Her body was small her bones frail and tiny yet she still was hanging in there. She was special Kailee could feel it as she watched the monitor. She had already begun to look through the baby name book which Trenton had asked for Jade and Lilly to purchase. They had also purchased a few items of clothing and special pregnancy items for Kailee. They had found lotions for her swollen belly and remedies to help her aching muscles.

The other two babies had been developing nicely, large and strong. Again the doctor had confirmed the sex of all three being girls. The heart rates were normal yet when the doctor listened closely he gave Kailee a confused look then continued on searching. Nearly an hour later of tests and ultrasounds the doctor declared the babies in perfect health. He told Kailee and Trenton they could continue with their wedding plans and the babies’ preparations.

The doctor had given Trenton and Kailee a list of preparations specific for triplets including special list and websites they could look up. He also emphasized the fact of having three of everything on the list would greatly help. He had told them that one crib would be alright for the three to share for the first month or so but after that it was better to have them share a room and have separate cribs.

He suggested that Trenton secure two trusted nannies to help with the babies if needed and to make sure to paint the room as soon as possible if it was going to be painted. He had insisted on purchasing baby safety items since there hasn’t been a baby in the pack house in years and have the chemicals and other cleaning items locked away in the supply closet where they belonged.
