“So you used the red one.”

“How the fuck do you know these things?” he asked, but she ignored him and leaned up to kiss me.

“Bye Tom. I’m so sorry about all this. I didn’t want anyone to … end up this way,” she said with tears in her eyes as she pulled her car door open. “And Jason, I won’t be coming home tonight either,” she told him with a glare, then she was gone.

“So who the hell are you, and why shouldn’t I end you?” Jason asked curtly, crossing his arms over his chest.

“Tom Adams,” I said, offering him a handshake. He clenched his jaw before reluctantly taking it. “I’m sorry about the loss of your mother. But don’t worry, you're both safe, I swear. I’m going to make up what I have to on the report to be sure of that, but if I leave without closing this file they will send someone else like him,” I said, pointing to Winston, who I was certain was dead now. That should’ve bothered me more than it did. “It only took me about fifteen minutes to find Elizabeth. You both should’ve left town.”

“Fuck! I tried to convince Liz, but she didn’t want to leave.”

“At least no one at the agency or the police department here knows either of your names or what you look like, other than you’re both in your twenties.”

“Good,” he exhaled, then his brow creased. “Wait, then how the hell did you find her?”

“I went to the bank your mother worked for. A lady named Janet was very talkative.”

“Damn it! But how can we trust a son of a bitch like you? Everyone knows you’re all sadistic fucks!”

“Why would I tell you all this if I was going to turn you in? I still think you should leave to be safe, but I know Elizabeth doesn’t want to give up going to Madison.”

“So I should leave?” he asked. “What the hell am I supposed to do?”

“It’d be less likely for someone to connect you to your mother if you left this area. Just try and lay low, doing what you can to make yourself look normal.”

“Like what? Tell me, Mr. D.R.A. agent, what do I have to do for them to leave me the fuck alone?”

I shrugged, not really knowing the answer. “I don’t know. Law enforcement maybe. If you get into a police department no one would suspect you’re anything but normal.”

Jason stood with his hands on his hips as he thought it over.

“You should be fine as long as you watch yourself … and make sure none of your blood is ever spilled.”

“But I can’t leave Liz, especially not with you,” he finally said.

I laughed. “I don’t think I can leave her either.”

  “So, you’re staying in Greensboro?”

“Hopefully,” I shrugged. “I don’t know for sure yet, but I’d like to.”

  “You just met her yesterday.”

“I know, but that doesn’t really seem to matter.”

“She's had enough shit to deal with, so if you hurt her I’ll kick your ass, even if you do have a fifty pound weight advantage on me.”

“Probably closer to seventy, and I doubt if I’ll stop you if I’m that stupid.”

“Remember what I am, because with that,” he said, pointing at Winston, “size doesn’t matter.” He glared at me before he turned around and started walking back inside.

“Don’t worry, I’ll clean this mess up,” I told him sarcastically.

“I know you will,” he said then hesitated before he added, “Just don’t touch the red liquid, and don’t make me regret letting you live.”

  Chapter Nine

  Elizabeth

My English comp exam was a breeze after all the sleep I'd had last night. My mind was clearer than it had been in weeks, even with everything that’d just happened this morning. I tried not to dwell on that. It was our lives or his, and I’d choose ours every single time.

After school I went home and studied for Friday’s statistics exam, then headed to start my shift at the grocery store. Three more exams and I was done with community college. I couldn’t help but smile as I thought about how I’d be at Madison in a few weeks, and be only two years away from graduating.

I parked at the back of the store’s lot and headed in a few minutes early. After I clocked in I grabbed a drawer from our manager, Karen, and then opened up my register. I’d already had two or three customers when a man walked in carrying a huge bouquet of flowers up to the customer service desk.

Wow, it must be someone’s birthday, but there weren’t that many of us working and I couldn’t think who might be celebrating. Karen pointed over at me and the man headed for my register. There had to be a mistake.

  “Elizabeth Maddox?" he asked.

“Yes, but those can’t be for me,” I told him.

He smiled. “Well, they are. I spoke to the man who ordered them myself.”

  Tom.

A huge smile stretched across my face. The delivery man sat the beautiful vase of flowers down on the register and turned to leave. There were all types of flowers and colors, looking completely out of place in the middle of December. I reached for the card in the middle that had my first name written in cursive on the front of the envelope. Inside he’d written, “I miss your beautiful smile, and I can’t wait to see you again tonight. - Tom.”

I had a smile on my face the rest of the day, and it felt so good to be happy for a change. At eight o’clock on the dot Tom walked into the store making me grin wider and heave a sigh of relief. Jason hadn’t killed him. He was wearing jeans again today, and a long sleeved grey t-shirt. He looked years younger out of his suit, and his smile was as wide as mine. But instead of heading over to my register he just went right on past. Huh.

I kept right on ringing up the few customers in my line wondering what he was up to until a huge box of Magnum condoms dropped on the conveyer belt. I laughed before I could even look up at him.

“Hey,” Tom said looking so incredibly handsome, like he belonged on the pages of a magazine instead of in an ordinary local grocery store.

“Hey," I replied, still unable to help my grin "Thank you for the beautiful flowers.”

  “You’re welcome."

"Planning on a busy night?" I asked as I rang the box up and threw them in a bag.

"Oh yeah. You think thirty-six is enough?" he asked with a smirk.

"For a few days," I responded and he laughed. "That'll be fifteen seventy-four."

Pulling out his wallet he handed me a twenty and I gave him his change.

"I’ll wait for you outside. I just wanted to see you and get prepared."

"I'd say you're well prepared now," I joked.

"Definitely. And um, everything from earlier has been taken care of, so don’t worry,” he said, sobering my good mood up with the reminder.

“Okay good. It shouldn’t take long to count out my register and then I’ll be out.”

“Sure, sweetheart, take your time,” he said as he grabbed the bag with the box and headed for the door.

I watched Tom leave, appreciating once again how damn good he looked. I was a lucky girl.

“Is that the man who sent you flowers?” Karen asked when I went over to the customer service desk to finish up for the night. She fanned herself as her eyes followed him out of the store.

  “Yeah.”

“Gorgeous and sweet? He’s a keeper, Liz.”

“Oh, I think so,” I told her with a smile.

“It’s good to see you happy again. I know you’ve had a tough time lately."

"Thanks, Karen. It’s good to be happy again. I'll see you Friday afternoon."

I clocked out and then headed outside into the cool December night air. I started looking for Tom and it only took me a moment to finally spot him leaning against his car. I smiled as I walked toward him carrying my beautiful vase of flowers. His arms went around me and his mouth came down to mine. I hated that I had my arms full, and couldn’t wrap them around him.

He pulled back a minute later. “I’m sorry about earlier. I should’ve been more careful with you.”<

“It’s okay, I just didn’t know my brother was so … ruthless. What happened?”

“I removed the jacket he had been wearing and destroyed it. Called an ambulance and said we’d met to have breakfast and when he got out of his car he grabbed his chest and went down. Cause of death has already been ruled a heart attack, so there’s not even a hint of foul play being suspected.”

“Thank goodness. I still can’t believe …. I knew Jason had been putting a few things together. I just had no idea they were so …”

  “Deadly?”

“Yeah. He really is a nice guy, he’s just protective.”

“I’m glad he’s protective of you, and will make sure you’re safe. Jason did all supernaturals a favor. Now Winston can’t kill any more innocent people. But let’s forget all about that. The case is mine now. They’re not sending anyone else, so you’re both safe. I’ll make up details and stay here as long as I can,” he said, then hesitated. “I, um, got some news today from the GPD detective. They found the man that hit your mother, Scott Haymore, and he’s been charged with fleeing the scene of an accident and involuntary manslaughter.”

“Oh my God,” I said, covering my mouth. Knowing they’d found him and he’d be punished was a piece of closure that I desperately needed. There would at least be some sort of justice for my mother.

“I’m sorry Elizabeth, but at least they caught the bastard,” Tom said, wrapping me in another hug.

“Thanks for letting me know. I’ll have to call and tell Jason,” I said. He wiped the tears on my cheeks before they froze in the cold air.

“So, are you hungry? Can I take you to dinner?” he asked.

“Does the hotel have room service?” I asked, needing to be with him. The stress of the day was wearing me down, and in Tom’s arm’s everything else went away.

“Um, yeah, I’m pretty sure they do. You want to head there?” he asked as his mouth moved down my neck, sending cold chills down my arms that had nothing to do with the weather.

“Yeah and I’ll drive my car there so you won’t have to drive me back over here tomorrow,” I told him, ready to be with him in his bed all night.

  “Okay, I’ll meet you there.”

“I’m going to need a shower first,” I warned him.

“I’m pretty sure I need one too,” he said, his eyes darkening with desire. “Let’s go.”

I got into my car with my heart racing, tingles spreading through my body and a building pressure warming within me. I carried my flowers into his room, since it was too cold outside to leave them in the car, and they needed water.

I was pretty sure Tom and I were both in a hurry to get naked and wrap ourselves around each other. As soon as we walked in the room, clothes came off. I put the flowers on the side table, pulled my shirt over my head and unhooked my bra while Tom pulled his shirt off and started on his pants. He smiled as he pulled the foil wrapper from his pants pocket and held it up before losing them and the rest of his clothes.

I went into the bathroom and started the shower, but didn’t even turn around before I felt Tom behind me. His arms went around my waist, then up to cup my breasts while his lips went to my neck, making me squirm. I braced my hands forward on the bathroom counter when I felt Tom’s erection push against my bottom.

"Are you wet sweetheart?" Tom asked, his hand snaking down between my legs before I could form an answer. He knew right away that I was ready for him. "God you are," he groaned as he teased me with his fingers, before pulling back just long enough to put on a condom, then angled himself to enter me.

“I’ve never been taken from behind,” I confessed, meeting his eyes in the mirror. I knew without a doubt it was what I wanted from him more than anything. Seeing his wide shoulders and defined muscles towering over me, pressed against my back, was so freaking sexy.

He gave me a confident and wicked grin, his blue eyes smoldering while his hands roamed over my curves.

“Then hold on tight sweetheart, because when it’s over, I would almost guarantee you’ll be begging me to bend you over again. Pretty sure this is how the term ‘fucking’ originated,” he said before thrusting into me.

“Ohmygod!” All of my words and air exploded out of me.

The fullness of the position was an incredible sensation, like none other before. Tom’s hands grabbed my hips tightly as he thrust himself into me over and over again. It felt like he went deeper and harder with each push, stroking my insides in a way I’d never felt. The ecstasy continued to build, taking me so high I begged for release.

As soon as Tom’s fingers reached down to touch my clit my body erupted around him, clenching him until he gave himself over to his own release.

“Oh fuck,” he growled as he slammed into me one last time.

As we stood there recovering, Tom kissed down my back and shoulders, his arms holding me tightly against his chest.

“You feel so good in my arms,” he said after our breathing started to slow.

I turned around to face him, wrapping my arms around his neck to pull his mouth to mine.

“I like being in your arms,” I told him with a smile. “But maybe we should actually talk to each other a little more. I feel like I don’t know much about you.”

“What do you want to know?” he asked, still looking satisfied and rightfully smug.

“What are you doing this weekend?” I asked.

  “Hopefully seeing you.”

“Good, because I’d like to spend it with you. Oh, and I’m off work tomorrow and I don’t have any exams either,” I told him.

“Good, now I can keep you up all night long. Talking of course.”

  “Of course.”

  Chapter Ten

  Tom

After Elizabeth and I finally showered we ordered room service and ate, then I had to get her into bed. I couldn't get enough of the woman, and we made love two more times before finally taking a break after midnight.

I'd never cared about anyone the way I did for Elizabeth. How I felt about her occurred almost instantaneously, and was so damn intense. She made me happier than I'd ever been in my entire life. I was ready to move down here to be with her while she went to school, doing whatever I had to, taking whatever job I could get just to be near her.

We slept for a few hours until I woke up in the darkness with my hard throbbing cock pressed against the crease of Elizabeth's smooth and perfect naked ass. I needed her so much I had to have her again, and couldn't wait a second longer. I rubbed a hand all the way down her leg to her ankle then back up again, over the swells of her ass, then down between the warmth of her thighs. I was pretty sure she'd been awake since I touched her leg, but knew for sure she was awake when she grabbed my hand and guided it to her wet slit. I took over from there, quickly feeling like I was going to explode as my erection rubbed against her ass, which moved whenever she ground against my fingers.

My body rocked against hers, forcing her onto her stomach. I couldn't wait any longer, so I raised her hips and mounted her.

"Oh God yes! Harder," she moaned before pushing back against me.

Being in her felt so damn amazing. Her warm wetness gripped me in a tight caress that sent me over the edge as soon as I felt her orgasm start. And fuck, I suddenly realized why she felt so good. I'd forgotten to put a goddamn condom on in my sleepy, lustful, rush to have her.

"Elizabeth, I've got to stop ... right now ... oh shit!" I moaned as I pulled out and immediately came.

"No, wait! Why'd you stop?" she asked.

"I'm sorry," I told her as I got up to find a towel.

When I came back she was still lying on her stomach where I’d left her. I climbed back in and laid down beside her, rubbing her back.

"That felt really good, probably better than any other time we've been together, and you had to pull out?" she laughed as she turned her head toward me and smiled.

"I was having too much fun, and by the time I realized it, it was too late," I told her as I le
aned down to kiss her. "Give me a few minutes and I'll make it up to you, with a condom from the beginning this time."

She laughed again. "Okay, but I hate those damn things."

"Oh, I do too. Have you thought about going on pills?" I asked.

She shook her head and looked away. "They don't work for me, since witches don't have cycles."

"So how the hell do witches get pregnant?" I asked, really confused.

"I don't know," she said with a shrug. "Keep trying?"

So this was what she meant by she might not be able to have kids.

"But your mom had you and Jason."

"Yeah, but my mom and dad tried for five years to get pregnant. Our father left when we were born, after he found out my mom was a witch. She hadn't told him, then he saw her blood. I think she’d hoped he wouldn't care by that point, but apparently the three of us weren’t worth a possible death sentence."

  “Oh, Elizabeth. I'm so sorry."

I felt bad that I worked for the people who actually carried those fucking things out.

"So … I don’t know when, or if I might even be able to have kids. I'm not even sure I want to, since they would have to hide for the rest of their lives. It would kill me if something happened to them."

"I'll do whatever I can to make sure they never find you, or your sons or daughters if you have any," I promised her, and she looked back up at me.

"I trust you, and I feel safe with you."

"Good." I leaned down to kiss her before getting off the bed.

"Where are you going?" she asked.

I grabbed several foil wrappers from the side table then climbed back in bed.

"I owe you an orgasm, and I won't stop until we both finish this time."

  …

The next morning Elizabeth and I slept until lunchtime, then went to Tex and Shirley's for a late breakfast.

"So, you don't have any classes or work today?" I asked her, watching her eat her last forkful of strawberry waffles.

She shook her head while she chewed. "Nope, but I do have somewhere to be at four this afternoon. Would you want to come with me?"
