Good Girl VS. Bad Boy: The Marine Meets His Match

by Jessie Evans

“Lucky me.” He leaned in to capture her lips for a long, slow kiss, knowing he wouldn’t trade this woman for anyone else in the world. She was the sweet, silly, sexy woman of his dreams and whatever the future held, his life was a thousand times richer for having her in it.

Later that night, as he and Phoebe were lying side by side in the double bed in his childhood bedroom—they had gotten snowed in at his parents’ house after all, and stayed up until ten talking by the fire while the snow fell outside—he realized that he didn’t want to imagine either of them away from this place, the hometown where they’d fallen in love.

“I’m going to turn down the commission,” he whispered, making Phoebe lift her head from his chest to meet his eyes in the dim blue light.

“Are you sure?” she said. “Because if you need this, I’ve been thinking about ways to make it work. I could hire someone to run the store and lease the—”

“No, I’m sure.” He brushed her hair from her face. “You were right the day we went for our run. I was trying to prove something that doesn’t need to be proved. And I wouldn’t be able to fly again, and that was always my favorite part of my job. So I’d rather stay here, take the promotion Seth offered me at the department, and explore other ways to go fast.”

Phoebe yipped softly in surprise but didn’t resist when he used the hand he’d slipped between her thighs to draw her on top of him. “Like what?”

“Like moving in with a girl I’ve only been dating for a few days.”

“That is pretty fast,” she said, wiggling out of her borrowed pajama pants as Colt drew them down her legs. “But it has to happen. Either that or you’re coming over every day to feed you know who.”

“Much more practical to just move in.” He slid his hand between her legs, summoning a soft sigh from her lips as he played through where she was already slick. “Why are you wet, beautiful?”

“I was lying next to you,” she said, pushing his boxers low enough to bare his hard length. “What’s your excuse?”

“Just smelling you is enough to keep me hard for days,” he said, biting back a groan as she lowered herself on top of him. “God, you’re perfect. I love you, Phoebe.”

“I love you, too,” she said, beginning to move. “But you’re going to have to put your hand over my mouth when I come. There’s no way I’ll remember to be quiet.” She held his gaze, her eyes darkening as she slid up and down his length, her heat surrounding him like a dream come true.

He threaded a hand through her hair, pulling her close as he whispered in her ear. “Don’t worry. Next time we stay over at Mom and Dad’s I’ll bring something to gag you with.”

“And tie me up, too,” she said, her breath catching as he thrust up into her, hard and fast.

“Dirty girl.” He squeezed her hip.

“Only for you,” she said, her lips finding his before she whispered, “Only for you, baby.”

After that, there was no holding back. They found a rhythm slow enough to keep the bedsprings from squeaking, but deep and wild and sweet. Colt rolled his hips as she rocked on top of him, their bodies finding their way in the dark like they had been lovers for years.

When she cried out, he was there to kiss the sound away. And when he came, pulsing hard inside her, Phoebe pressed his face to her chest, surrounding him with her softness, her sweetness, and her love.

And at that moment, Colt knew he was exactly where he belonged, for now and always.

Warning: This book features a damaged alpha male with a heart of gold and a cock of pure platinum.

  Two truths and one lie…

  1. Tucker Brody is a red-hot alpha between the sheets. (Truth. Just looking at the man has been known to set panties ablaze.)

  2. Frankie Jane Madson is a thirty-two year old virgin. (*blush* Truth. She still holds her V card, though not from lack of trying to get it punched. You try living with your cryogenically frozen father camped out in the shed behind your house and see how many dates you get.)

  3. Two old friends like Tucker and Frankie can share a room—and a bed—without sex ever entering the picture. (Lie. Lie. LIE.)

When Tucker asks Frankie to pretend to be his girlfriend for his brother’s destination wedding—sparing him the torture of his little sister’s incessant matchmaking—she agrees. Maybe a long weekend together will give her the chance to convince Tucker to open his heart again. His fiancée died three years ago. It’s time for him to move on, though she never dreams it might be with her.

She and Tucker are just friends.

Until things get a LOT more than friendly…

When pretending to be lovers unexpectedly becomes the real thing, Tucker finds himself giving Frankie a red-hot crash course in multiple-O’s and relishing going to sleep with his best friend. But when he learns the secret Frankie’s keeping, Tucker loses the last of his faith in happily ever after, putting his second chance at love at risk.

More Very Serious Warnings: Red Hot Love VS. Little White Lies contains a face-fanning combination of red-hot love, friends to lovers sweetness, insane family members, a flower girl-zilla, and graphic descriptions of professional tree climbing. Read at your own risk.

  About the Author

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Jessie Evans, gave up a career as an international woman of mystery to write the sexy, contemporary romances she loves to read.

She's married to the man of her dreams, and together they're raising a few adorable, mischievous children in a cottage in the jungle. She grew up in rural Arkansas, spending summers running wild, being chewed by chiggers, and now appreciates her home in a chigger-free part of the world even more.

When she's not writing, Jessie enjoys playing her dulcimer (badly), sewing the worlds ugliest quilts to give to her friends, going for bike rides with her house full of boys, and drifting in and out on the waves, feeling thankful for sun, surf, and lovely people to share them with.
