GLOSSARY OF TERMS
(Numbers indicate which book in Galaxy on Fire the term was first used.)
Al (1): The ship’s AI from Jon’s initial Ark 1 flight. Al stayed with Jon until his dying day and then it elected to hang around the dormant android Jon forever. Good AI!
Al Junior (1): The pet name Jon gave to a low-level AI aboard the Adamant mothership that aided in his escape.
Arktackle (2): Vice-Chamberlain and high-ranking courtier to Emperor Bestiormax.
Blessing (1): The highly advanced Deavoriath vortex ship gifted to Jon.
Brathos (2): Kaljaxian cultures version of hell.
Brood-mate/brood’s-mate (2): Male and female members of a Kaljaxian marriage.
Brindas (1): High master of Deft tradition and psychic ability.
Canivir (2): Species of dog-like sentients containing the Adamant. Big border collies.
Caryp (2): Clan leader for Sapale's family on Kaljax.
Charlie-Foxtrot (2): Military jargon. It means the same as cluster + fornication (he said euphemistically).
Command Prerogatives (1): The thin fibers Jon extends from his left four fingers. They are probes that also control a vortex as well as great sensors.
Cragforel (1): Friendly Deavoriath Jon met after he first escaped the Adamant.
Darfey (2): Male attendant to Slapgren on Excess of Nothing.
Davdiad (2): Kaljaxian divine spirit.
Deavoriath (1): Three arms and legs, the most advanced tech in the galaxy, and helpful to Jon.
Deft (1): A shapeshifting species from the planet Locinar.
Dingery (2): One of several rabbit-equivalent species on Azsuram.
Dolfene (2): Long ago a human world, now controlled by the Adamant. Jon want there to find intel on the Deft teen's location.
EJ (1): Evil Jon, the Jon Ryan from the alternate time line who returned in time to give humankind membrane technology.
Emperor Bestiormax-Jacktus-Swillyforth-Anp (2): High ruler of the Adamant.
Excess of Nothing (2): Emperor Bestiormax's personal ship. Huge and opulent.
Fentort (2): Servant in Caryp’s home on Kaljax.
Five Races (2): Adamant, the leaders; Loserandi, the priests; Kilip, the teachers; Descore, the servants; and Warrior, the enlisted fighters.
Flat Fields of Lame Prey (2): Adamant version of heaven.
Garustfulous (2): Wedge Leader Garustfulous is a high ranking Adamant military leader. Taken hostage by Jon.
Gendo and Proclamate Hegemonies (1): Ancient civilizations of Disulpf.
Gorilla Boy/GB (2): Flippant name given to an AI by Jon. The ship Jon took to escape from Earth to Azsuram. From the planet Zactor on a mission to collect samples.
Grand Inquisitor Heldogra (2): Commander of Adamant forces on Azsuram when both Jons were there fighting.
Hirn (1): A Kaljaxian dialect.
His Imperial Lord (2): Title of Emperor Bestiormax-Jacktus-Swillyforth-Anp. Mirraya shortens to HIS.
Locinar (1): Home planet of the Deft.
The Maker of Death (2): Garustfulous’s warship.
Malraff (2): Of High Seer rank. Main antagonist to Deft teens. A cruel and heartless bitch who loves to hurt others. Bad dog!
Mayoral Fender Prime Gideon Fetch (2): Minor functionary who helped Deft teens get to Excess of Nothing.
Membrane (1): Space-time congruity manipulator. A super force field.
Mercutcio (1): Lead Adamant Jon first encountered.
Midriack (1): Adamant’s personal guards. Very deadly, no sense of humor. Avoid them!
Mirraya (1): Teenager Jon rescued from detention and pending execution on Triumph of Might.
Oowaoa (1): Home world of the Deavoriath.
Opalf (2): Honorific title in Kaljaxian society, reserved for the elderly.
PEMTU (1): Personal exotic matter transportation unit. A super way to enter here and end up anywhere, instantly.
Pisher (2): A Yiddish word for an insignificant or contemptible person.
Quantum Decoupler (1): A weapon that tears apart protons into their constituent quakes. The reformation of the proton releases tremendous energy.
Quep (1): Insect like sentient who woke Jon up on Exeter while looking for scrap.
Reglan falcon (2): A fast bird the Deft teens copied to escape pursuit.
Rostalop (1): Mirraya’s favorite food. Think cow.
Samolet (2): Commander of encampment Jon penetrated to find out about the emperor’s location.
Sapale (1): Jon's Kaljaxian wife from his original flight to find humankind a new home. At first just her brain was copied, then, eventually, she was downloaded to an android host. Travelled with the corrupted Jon Ryan from an alternate timeline.
Sentorip (2): Female servant to Mirraya on Excess of Nothing.
Shebrara (2): Female whale like creature on Azsuram. Helped Jon briefly.
Slofgrozels (2): Unpalatable creatures with excellent senses of hearing and smell.A beast as disgusting as it’s name suggested.
SOP (2): Standard Operating Procedure.
Talrid (2): A major city on Kaljax.
Toño DeJesus (1): The creator of the android Jon became and his lifelong friend.
Triumph of Might (1): The massive spaceship Mercutcio ruled. Jon first met the Adamant there.
Torchcleft (2): A species of smallish dragon. Copied by the Deft teens to hunt.
Ungalaym (1): Planet Jon went to steal a ship. Populated by humanoids.
Whoop Ass (2): The name Jon gave to the alien ship he commandeered to leave destroyed Earth after EJ marooned him there.
Xenox (1): The language of the Deavoriath.
