Hearing the desperation in his voice and feeling the increased hardness of his dick pushed me to the very edge. I came again, constricting around him like a snake around its prey. I squeezed him hard as my pussy sang, feeling such a high of pleasure I didn’t think I would ever come down again.

  It felt so damn good.

  The best.

  “Give it to me, Zeke.”

He grunted against my ear and his strokes evened out, slowing in pace. Then he inserted himself completely inside me, balls deep. “Here it comes.” His cock twitched inside me and he tensed noticeably, holding his breath as his tip exploded. “Fuck…” He continued to moan through the orgasm, depositing every drop of come deep inside me. “Fuck yeah.” He buried his face in my neck as he caught his breath, our sweat mixing together. He kept his cock inside me as it slowly softened. Then he stayed there for a long time, recovering from what just happened.

“I’m sorry I came so quickly…” I was embarrassed by how easy it was to get me off. “I haven’t been—”

“You’ll always come quickly with me—and more than once.”

When I opened my eyes the next morning, my head rested on Zeke’s powerful chest. My arm was tucked around his hard waist, and his bare skin was warm to the touch. It took me a moment to realize this reality was true. I was truly naked in Zeke’s bed, cuddling with him after a great night of sex and sleep.

I shifted in bed then looked up at him, seeing his heavy eyes look back at me. His arm was around my shoulder, and his large fingers moved up and down my side. He was sexy when he first woke up in the morning.

“Is this real?” I dreamed about this moment so many times I couldn’t tell if it was just my imagination getting the best of me.

“Yeah.” His fingers moved through my hair. “And if it’s not, it’s the best dream I’ve ever had.” He turned on his side and cuddled with me, his face resting against my shoulder. The large windows in his bedroom led to his big backyard. A heavy fog had settled on the ground and blocked out visibility. The back fence couldn’t even be seen. I wasn’t sure what time it was, probably still early in the morning.

  “You’re a really good kisser,” I blurted.

The corner of his mouth rose in a smile. “I hope you think I’m good at other things as well.”

“Oh, I do,” I said quickly. “I was just remembering our first kiss…”

“It’s fun to think about, huh?” He kissed my shoulder, his soft lips so warm.

I didn’t want to have this conversation, but I knew it had to happen. I’d been hurt too many times to make stupid assumptions. “So…was last night a one-night stand?” I couldn’t keep the dread out of my voice. “It wasn’t, right? Because—”

“I’m your man, Rae.” He kissed my shoulder. “And you’re my woman.”

Relief entered my veins. “Well, there’s something I should tell you. I don’t want you to think this was just some compulsive, physical thing. A few months ago, I started to have feelings for you and they never went away…”

He stared at me like this information was redundant.

He wasn’t surprised at that? At all? “Rochelle told me you used to have feelings for me. When I found that out, my feelings only became worse. The only reason why I didn’t tell you was because you were seeing Rochelle at the time.”

Still, nothing. “Rae, Rex told me everything about a month ago.”

My heart plummeted into my stomach. My own brother betrayed me? He blabbed everything to Zeke? “What?”

“When he told me, it changed everything. Rochelle was great, and I was happy with her. But once you were in my mind, I couldn’t get you out. I’ve wanted you for so long, and I couldn’t miss the chance to have you. I never looked at Rochelle the same, and our relationship died in that instant. That was why I broke up with her.”

“Because of me?” Now I really felt like shit. “I didn’t want that to happen. That’s why I never told you—”

“I know. But I’m glad I found out. This past month only assured me I made the right decision. Being with you is different. It’s…” He tried to search for the right words. “It’s like hanging out with your best friend and the hottest chick you’ve ever seen at the exact same time. Sometimes I wanted to kiss you, and other times, I couldn’t stop laughing at something you said. This is where I belong.”

His decision was in the past, and nothing we said now would change what happened. Rochelle was gone and their relationship was over for good. I could keep feeling bad about it, but it wouldn’t change anything. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

“I wanted to wait a while to get Rochelle out of my system. I know I made the right decision for leaving her, but I still cared about her and she was on my mind. I wanted to be alone for a while before I went for you—out of respect for both of you.”

  “Oh…”

“But when I saw the heartbroken look on your face when Theresa was talking to me, I knew I needed to come clean and stop dragging my feet.”

  “Who is she?”

  “A patient.”

I still didn’t like her. She didn’t need to grope her doctor’s arm like that.

“So instead of telling you everything, I just kissed you instead. And that worked out pretty well.”

  Hell yeah, it did.

“So now we’re here.” He slowly rolled me to my back as his body covered mine. His muscular thighs separated mine and he leaned farther over me, his lips just inches from mine.

  “Here we are…”

He pressed his head against my entrance, his large cock thick and throbbing.

I hooked my arms around his neck and stared deep into his eyes, feeling his length stretch me as it slid deeper inside. Sex had never felt so good, and my mind was in a haze of satisfaction.

Once he was completely inside me, he remained still, enjoying the feel of my wet pussy. He moaned quietly as he felt me stretch slowly, acclimating to his large size. Zeke was innately sexy, and he knew how to make all the right moves in bed. He was aggressive and authoritative, not always the gentleman he seemed to be—and I liked that.

I didn’t see him as my friend anymore, and I hadn’t in a long time. I saw him as the dreamiest hunk in the world, the man who owned my heart and every other part of my body. I felt safe with him like I didn’t with anyone else. “You’re so much better than my dreams.”

He kissed the corner of my mouth as he moved deep inside me. “And you’re so much better than my hand.”

  ***

I walked through the door with Zeke behind me. It was Sunday night, and I had to go back to work the next day.

  Unfortunately.

Rex was in the kitchen. He pulled a pizza pocket out of the microwave then gave us an uncomfortable look. “You’re home…”

“Don’t worry, I’m not staying.” I was wearing the same dress and heels I’d been wearing on Friday night. I wasn’t wearing any underwear because those were too old and too wet to wear now.

Saying this moment was awkward was an understatement.

“I’m just going to get some clothes and grab Safari.” I walked down the hall, feeling guilty for leaving Zeke alone with Rex. It was undoubtedly awkward between them. But they had to get through it since they were best friends.

“How was your weekend?” Zeke asked.

I grabbed a bag and threw my clothes inside.

“It was alright,” Rex said. “How was yours?”

“Good.” That was all Zeke said.

  Shit, it was tense.

“Hang out with Kayden?” Zeke asked.

“We went to the beach yesterday,” Rex said. “Had a little picnic.”

  “That sounds nice,” Zeke said.

“Yeah,” Rex said. “It was cool.”

I put a leash on Safari and then walked back into the entryway, saving Zeke from the tensest conversation on the planet. “I’m ready.”

“When are you coming back?” Rex asked.

  “Whe
n I run out of clothes,” I said bluntly. I wasn’t leaving Zeke’s place until I absolutely had to. I didn’t want to leave his side, or his bed, for even a moment. I wanted to wear his t-shirt around the house all day long with his boxers underneath. I wanted to see Safari run around in the backyard.

Zeke grabbed my bag and hung it over his shoulder. “Alright. We’ll see you later.”

Rex looked a little sick. “Okay…”

This awkwardness shouldn’t even have been there. It was strange that it existed at all. “Rex, stop being weird. Zeke and I are sleeping together. It’s not that ridiculous.”

Rex took a bite out of his pizza pocket. “It’ll just take some time to get used to. I thought this day would happen, but now that it has…it’s just awkward.”

“Well, get over it,” I said. “Because this arrangement is going to last a really long time.”

Zeke automatically smiled when he heard what I said. “You heard her. I’m gonna be around for a long time.”

Rex rolled his eyes. “Just shut up and go.”

Zeke took my hand and walked me outside. Safari was connected to the leash held in my hand, and since Zeke was there, he seemed to know where we were headed. Zeke eyed me with the same smile still on his face.

  “What?”

“I like what you said back there.”

“That this thing will last a long time?”

  “Yeah.”

“I wouldn’t risk our friendship if I didn’t think it could last forever.”

He stopped walking and his smile disappeared. He stared me down like he didn’t know what to say. “Yeah?”

  “Yeah.”

He nodded. “I think it’s going to last forever too.”

My heart stopped beating in my chest once those words were exchanged. We didn’t make a commitment or even say we loved each other, but somehow, those words felt heavy. I didn’t know where our relationship would go because we’d only been seeing each other for a few days, but deep in my gut, I knew it was special. I knew it was different from any other relationship I’d had before.

We didn’t know what would be at the end of this road until we walked the path. But I was excited to find out where we would end up. Although there was one concern I had. “No matter what happens, we’ll always be friends.” I extended my hand so we could shake on it. “Because I couldn’t live without you in my life.”

He eyed my hand before he took it. “Of course.”

  “Promise?”

  He nodded. “Promise.”

A smile formed on my lips.

  And he smiled back.
