AREA 51: IMORTUM
Page 26
“The technology is from the ancient city of Aekaetum; their civilization fell due to a Hemorrhagic pathogen they released. Very few people survived it; I believe they called it Elyon’s madness. Anyway it looks like eighteen months linear from our current location, the CEMPS was launched. It appears to have wiped out the technology base along with destabilizing the planets magnetic core, and it looks as if most of their nuclear power plants had their cores melt as well as increasing volcanic activity.
“There are extremely high radiation levels around the planet, and the thermal variant added to the already warming planetary conditions. That is why there is no ice left on Earth. A similar event happened after Lantis was destroyed; only there was no radiation, just a severe thermal event. Anyway, Jerren wanted us to go back and destroy the CEMPS as it launched, and that is when Inola said ‘NO!’”
Jason moaned and drew Eneria’s attention. Looking to Alise, he said, “We allowed this, by fixing the Event Horizon.”
Alise said, “If we hadn’t stopped the Event Horizon, this planet would have been destroyed along with Antilles.”
Jason sighed and said, “You’re right, but what do we do, Inola didn’t want us to fix it… Why?”
Eneria wondered that as well and turning to her console, she advanced the time dilation on her probe to see the end result of allowing this timeline to continue.
Eneria watched as the planet went through some nasty weather changes, then about twenty-five years after the launch, the CEMPS just exploded. Eneria reversed the probe’s TD and watched as another cloaked satellite locked onto the CEMPS and destroyed it.
“Who launched that?” it was Terrah who asked.
Eneria saw that Jerren had already performed a scan of the new satellite, she looked down at the data from his scan and said, “This is strange, the technology in that probe is from Hedal.” Eneria could see that they were all confused, so she explained, “Hedal was the Great City that the people of Aekaetum tried to kill off with the plague.”
“OH MY…” Alise exclaimed. “Terraneu… That is where I remember the names Aekaetum and Hedal.”
Jason then asked, “The people we sent our cousin too?”
Alise just nodded in apparent bewilderment.
“What about Terraneu? And what cousin?” one of the sisters asked from behind them.”
Alise said, “We sent a distant cousin of yours through the portal to prevent Enyali from killing her. I had been on Terraneu with my commander Elgon from that time, nearly two hundred years from now and that is where I heard those names.
“The men there had fled from Terra in an attempt to locate a relocation colony when Aekaetum started the war. They were dying out and Amber was the key to their survival.”
Eneria was still puzzled by the thought of not preventing this disaster. This event clearly fell within the bounds of what the TDS ships were there to prevent, so Eneria decided to advance the probe further. About a hundred years further she saw new activity in orbit, the image was shifting between blurry and clear, and in the clear moments she could make out specific activities. Time passed another twenty years and in the clear moments Eneria could see that there were ships of all sizes and shapes coming and going from Earth.
Eneria asked, “Have either of you seen a probe behave this way before?”
Alise and Calia shook their heads apparently at a loss as well, and Eneria peered back at the display.
A few minutes later Alise drew Eneria’s attention when she said, “Hmmm, It looks as if the reset advanced Earth’s civilization, you see those ships there,” Alise pointed out a few of the larger space ships that shifted into focus and continued, “Those are Esulan ships. The Esulan swore they would never have dealings with Earth again after the Roswell crash.”
“So we’re to do nothing?” Terrah asked sounding a bit shocked.
Jerren thought about it, after his brief talk with Inola, he was positive she had a plan in the works, so sighing he said, “It would appear that way.” Jerren turned around and added, “We still have a lot of other things to rectify, starting with Abnearu and TDS 2,” Jerren asked, “Terrah, how long until you’re ship will be ready to head out?”
Terrah got a disgruntled look and said, “My ship is still a mess and not working like it is supposed to. We’re almost finished cleaning it up though.”
Jerren closed his eyes a moment and got their ship moving. He turned to Eneria, “I set course for Daregon, if we all pitch in maybe we can figure out what is the matter with her ship.” Something was itching at Jerren’s mind and he focused in on it. realizing what had been dancing around in his mind, Jerren asked, “Have you performed the major diagnostic on the ship yet?”
Terrah looked blankly back at him and he continued, “I activated a major diagnostic on TDS 5 when it approached Earth, the monitor in the master control room showed it could only be performed once every ten thousand years. If you…” Jerren’s voice trailed off into laughter as he watched in amusement at the sight of Terrah making a beeline for the master control room.
Jerren let out a chuckle and said, “We’ll be over in a little bit to help with the cleanup and or repairs if it’s still needed. Let us know if you need anything else.”
One by one the group said their goodbyes and before long Jerren and Eneria were alone. Jerren pulled Eneria into a tight hug and said, “There are a few people on Earth I would like to help through this catastrophe once we have time.”
Jerren hesitated a moment then said, “Is it cold hearted of me that I know the fate of the nearly eight billion people on Earth, but I don’t feel the anguish over it because I know the planet will turn out better for it? Or is it selfish of me to want to choose who can survive?” Jerren asked as he peered up at the now empty monitor.
Eneria took Jerren’s hand, stretched up on her tiptoes and kissed him, then she said, “Those are normal feelings considering your job. You will have a lot of those feelings over the years, we will deal in death and tragedy, life and Beauty. Granted the past hundred and twenty thousand years I have not seen much of the two latter, with Enyali on this ship.
“We are charged with the safety and preservation of the universe and with that you will need a little detachment. But that does…n’t mean you can…n’t help those you care for. That you asked the question says a lot about your character though.”
Jerren chuckled and said, “It just dawned on me, that’s the first time I’ve heard you speak in contractions. Come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve heard Calia or Alise speak them either.”
Eneria laughed and said, “I have a very adaptable program, and I’m able to learn all sorts of things.” Eneria said with a playful grin and a wink, “Now come with me, we need to get dirty before we help them clean up.”
Chapter Thirty-Four
Jerren smiled affectionately at his love as Eneria whispered, “I’ve a surprise for you. Close your eyes.”
Jerren did and a moment later Eneria told him to open them. When he did, he was a bit confused. They were in the Observation room, and the room was transitioning from pitch black to granting a stunning view of the universe. Jerren looked down and smiled. When Eneria transported them she removed their clothing in the process. Jerren said, “I like this.”
Eneria smiled warmly up at Jerren and said, “If you like this, then just wait.”
After Eneria said that, the Ion generators Jerren had placed in the room vanished and she adjusted the gravity so they would float in the room.
Jerren pulled Eneria close to ensure she didn’t drift away from him and he let out a chuckle. Jerren was about to speak when the ship slowed down and entered the atmosphere of a planet and she planted a very sensual kiss upon him. Jerren had the same sensation of freefalling without the wind, and now he knew what Eneria was up to.
Jerren kissed Eneria with a passion he had never known, and gave himself to her fully, bodies entwined as to not allow the other to drift away while they circled the planet. Having found their
release, Jerren pulled Eneria in tightly and said, “I think you just discovered something else I love doing more than skydiving.” Then Jerren transported him and Eneria to their bed as he resumed their course for Daregon.

Excerpt from IMORTUM: Resurgence
Colonel Terrah Tones was six months away from her Senate Armed Service Committee hearing. She had been successful with every below the zone promotion and if promoted on this cycle she would be the youngest female Brigadier General in Air Force history.
Terrah had been stationed at the Area 51 test site for the past six years and was the OIC for the night. She walked around an ancient spacecraft carefully observing the scientists as they performed their tests. The ship was one of two ancient space ships that were found buried under untold thousands of years of sediment, in what used to be Groom Lake, just north of Nellis Air Force base in Las Vegas Nevada. The military had burrowed their way down to the ships but had been unable to raise them. So in the interest of research and secrecy, the military created the Area 51 base over the ships location.
A few weeks earlier the sensors throughout the cavern had picked up a massive energy spike shortly before they burnt out, and until that night, Terrah had never known what was on the lowest levels. The lowest levels of the base were classified SCI four, so she was not privy to the details. Terrah had been the acting base commander on that night due to a strange play of events, and regardless of her clearance, she was ordered to investigate the incident.
Since that night Terrah’s security clearance had been modified, and she was now authorized to be on the lowest level, as were the two Lieutenant Colonels who accompanied her that night, but the three of them still didn’t have the authority to enter any of the sublevels between it and the thirteenth floor.
What Terrah found when she arrived on the lowest level were two ships. One that was massive with what appeared to be weapons on every surface and the other was a pyramid looking craft, which was over sixty feet squared and at least forty feet tall with a mirror-like appearance. The energy spikes had originated from the smaller vessel and scorched the ground as well as the underside of the massive vessel beside it, and once Terrah informed the Base Commander, Major General Hallance of what she found, the General immediately called in their DARPA physicists to run tests on the pyramid ship.
The scorching around the smaller pyramid ship told them which of the two crafts to examine, so a modular isolation laboratory had been built around that vessel. For the first week the room was crowded, at one point Terrah had counted over thirty scientists of one sort or another. But by the third week of finding nothing they hadn’t already known; the scientists had dwindled to a mere six.
Terrah knew from her debriefing that the two ships had been unearthed pretty much in their current locations, and over the years since finding the ships, the military, and private contractors had performed countless tests on the ships but had been at a loss at how to reactivate or even enter either of the vessels.
Apparently, the scientists had removed some of the weaponry from the larger vessel for testing, but from what Terrah overheard the scientists saying, they had no luck activating them either. The smaller pyramid ship was smooth as glass but made of a strange alloy which had a mirror like sheen to it, and not even a single seam or hatch. It just appeared to be a solid pyramid shaped chunk of metal, and the scientists were having the same luck with it as with the larger ships weapons.
The scientists were currently propping sensors on the hull in a last ditched attempt to pick up any readings from within. Terrah made another circuit around the craft when all of a sudden she felt as if her body was being pushed in the ships direction. She managed to regain her balance and was a mere foot from the vessel.
Looking down she saw her reflection and a moment later she felt as if her arm was being pulled toward the ship. Despite thinking better of it, she placed her hand on the surface and was quite surprised at the feel of it. The ship seemed to hum a moment and a second later she felt an intense jolt of energy course throughout her body. Terrah stood convulsing, unable to remove her hand from the ship as arcing discharges were flying from her body in all directions, and her last conscious thought was, “that was a stupid thing to do. I guess Darwin was right. Survival of the fittest indeed!” and Terrah lost consciousness. *****
Terrah woke a bit muddle-headed and strapped down to a medical bed. She’d never seen the inside of this room before, but by the look of the walls and doors, Terrah felt sure she was still at Area 51, but in one of the isolation rooms on sub level twelve where the top secret detention cells had been located. Terrah tried to jerk her arms free of the restraints, but she was firmly secured to the bed. Fighting her mounting frustration and failing, Terrah yelled out, “Can anyone hear me!?”
A moment later the door clicked, and Terrah looked over to see Sergeant Brooks peer in. “Sergeant, remove these restraints at once.” She snapped in her most authoritative voice.
“I’m sorry ma’am, I’m not authorized to remove them.” Brooks said sounding nervous, then peering behind him a moment he looked back and said, “I’ll call for the General and the doctor,” Then he quickly closed the door.
Terrah could feel the frustration building, she wanted to rip the Sergeant’s head off. Then she calmed down a bit knowing he was only following orders, she knew he wouldn’t be authorized to remove them, but she’d be able to have the restraints removed once the doctor arrived. A minute later she heard the door click and to her relief it had been the man who raised Terrah and her sisters after their parent’s deaths.
General Green entered the room and rushed to her side. “Thank god! I was afraid it had killed you as well,” he whispered somberly.
““Pop…” Terrah began to say, but “Pops” as he liked to be called when they were off base silenced her by holding a finger up and shaking his head. Realizing she was probably being monitored, Terrah nodded and whispered, “Who died?”
Pops looked hesitant to answer but she asked again and he whispered back, “Everyone… everyone else in the room.”
“Could you remove these restraints? Why am I in here anyways?” Terrah asked of him.
Pops began removing the restraints. After Terrah’s right arm was freed she began working on the left while Pops moved to her waist strap.
Pops sighed and quietly said, “When I arrived on base, the guards that were stationed outside the modular lab said they entered to find everyone charred beyond recognition, and you lying on the ground with all of your clothes seared off. They couldn’t see any injuries so they called General Hallance and he ordered you up here. His jet was having technical issues at Peterson, but he’s in the air now and will be landing within minutes. I’m afraid of what he’s going to do when he gets here, we need to get you out of here and off of the base now.” Pops had the belt unstrapped and moved to her feet.
Terrah was struggling with the left wrist restraint and just got it loose when doctor Abbas entered the room.
“What are you doing!?” the doctor yelled.
Pops turned and said, “Colonel Tones is fine, I’m authorizing her release”
“You aren’t the Medical Director here anymore, you don’t have the authority—” the doctor stated.
“Lieutenant Colonel,” Pops cut him off, “do you see these stars on my uniform!? I still outrank you, and I may not be the Medical Director, but you’re not the director either, so with me being the ranking medical officer on base my orders stand. I can see Colonel Tones is fine and I am authorizing her release. Now step aside before I bring you up on insubordination charges!” Pops stated firmly.
Terrah managed to get the last
ankle restraint removed and stood up on shaky legs, “I’m fine—”
“GUARDS!” the doctor called out. The two posted guards entered the room and the doctor shouted, “Restrain them!”
Sergeant Brooks and another Sergeant Terrah recognized but couldn’t remember the name of, raised their weapons and Terrah and Pops yelled at the same time, “STAND DOWN!”
The guards seemed to be at a loss for what to do, the doctor was a Lieutenant Colonel, but Terrah, a full bird Colonel, and Pops being a Major General outranked everyone in the room. The guards looked reluctant, but lowered their weapons and stood back as Terrah walked past wondering how the hell she was going to get off of the base, seeing as how secure it was. Somehow she doubted that everyone would just stand aside and allow her to leave because she and or Pops ordered it.
Terrah could hear muttering from behind her but didn’t look back. She and Pops had almost made it to the door when Terrah was grabbed from behind by the doctor, and a moment later Terrah heard a shout over the intercom.
“This is General Hallance, restrain the prisoner at once! And bring General Green to my office immediately.” Terrah had been tasered in the past as part of her military police training, and she recognized the all too familiar feeling of taser darts embedding in the flesh of her abdomen, and with another jolt of electricity, she lost her bid for consciousness once again.
*****
Terrah awoke once again to find herself restrained, but this time, she noticed that she had guards posted inside the room with her. She looked at the guard on her left, “Sergeant, what the hell is going on? Get someone in here to release me immediately!”
The two guards flinched a bit at Terrah’s harsh tone but remained silent. The guard to the right turned and exited the room, only to return in silence a few minutes later to take up her post again.
