She smirked at me, lust darkening her light eyes. “You know I have never been good at playing by the rules.”

I ripped her legs apart, sliding them onto my shoulders. I rolled my hands down her inner thighs, pulling her up by her ass. I undid the button and zipper of her jeans, pulling them off her gorgeous legs as fast as humanly possible.

I knelt in front of her, slowly starting to lick, making sure to taste every inch of her. Stopping at her bud, I sucked her clit into my mouth and Serena cried out, “Oh, fuck, Colt.” Her knees started to shake and I could tell she was close to orgasm number one of many for the evening.

I played at her opening with my tongue, picking her ass up off the table and locking her knees around my shoulders so I could get in a little deeper. Cupping her ass, I spread her lips apart with my thumbs as I licked deep inside her.

“Fuck, Colt. Holy shit.” Her hips bucked as she rode out her orgasm on my face and my dick twitched from my erotic victory. “Baby, it’s your turn.” Serena tried to get up from the table but I shoved her back down.

“I will tell you when you’re finished.”

I gripped her ass harder, picking her up until just her shoulders were on the table, I ran my hands down her milky thighs, feeling her shudder from my gentlest touch. I reached down quickly, unbuttoning my shirt and pants, getting undressed as quickly as possible.

I heard a soft “Yes” come from Serena as she exhaled with a low growl. “You better fuck the shit out of me. I need to feel you come with me.”

“You better wait for me then, baby.” I felt her clinch as she tried to keep her climax at bay as it started to build quickly inside her again. I grabbed her hip in one hand and pressed the head of my dick against her opening as she exhaled sharply. “How badly do you want it?”

She moaned, grabbing my wrist. “Please, Colt.”

She didn’t even finish my name before I was deep inside her, feeling her walls stretch and pulse, taking in my length. She slowly slid her legs from my shoulders and wrapped them tightly around my waist. My fingertips dug into the tops of her thighs as I used the leverage to get as deep as possible into her pussy.

“Colt, please. I can’t hold this in much longer.”

“I fucking love when you beg me to let you come, Serena.”

I watched as her nails dug into her hips as she tried to maintain her composure. Her eyes rolled back a bit as they slowly closed and she finally took a deep breath in again. I pulled Serena’s right leg from around my waist, rolling her onto her side and pushing her legs together, still thrusting into her.

She cried out. “You’re in the perfect fucking spot.”

Her cunt pulsed and tightened around my shaft until it was too much for either of us to handle. I felt her body release as she trembled, orgasming more intensely than I had ever felt. Within seconds I was pulsing inside her, riding out the most euphoric bliss we had ever experienced together.

Cracking open a couple of beers, I made my way over to the couch to watch some rerun of America’s Next Top Model because it made Serena happy.

“Oh, the things I put up with for you.”

She grabbed her PBR from my hand, sliding a koozie onto it. “You know you secretly love this shit.”

I shook my head quickly. “Not in any way, shape, or form. But, it makes you happy, and that’s enough for me. Thanks again for bringing food to practice.”

Her big blue eyes looked up at me as she covered her legs with a blanket. “Of course, I love hanging out with the guys. Sucks I don’t get more time to do it.”

It was time. It had been a long time coming and I felt the words building up in my mouth like a dam about to burst. I grabbed Serena’s hand and shifted so I was looking directly at her. “Can I pause this?” I asked with the remote in my hand.

“Yeah, of course. Everything all right?”

I cleared my throat and counted to ten. Here goes nothing. “Serena, I know that you don’t believe in marriage—fuck, you know that I don’t either, so I am not asking you to marry me. I am asking you to be with me. Only me, for the rest of your life. No strings, no paperwork. Just two people together because deep down in their soul they know it is the right thing to do. Come on tour with us. Stay with me. Leave this place and run wild with me for the rest of our lives.”

She took a deep breath, staring into my eyes as hers welled with tears. “I am so in love with you, it's insane and it scares the ever-living shit out of me. No one has ever had me questioning my entire life the way you have, and at the same time I'm addicted to the way you make me feel.”

I sat there paralyzed, hoping she would continue, but she just sat there, tears ready to fall. “Is that a yes?”

She smiled and wiped away the one escaped droplet. “Colt, I want nothing more than to spend every minute of the rest of our lives not being married to you.”

I crushed my lips to hers before reaching for the drawer in the coffee table. “I was hoping you’d say something like that.” I reached in and pulled out two ring boxes.

“What did you do?” She stared at the velvety cases in my hands as her cheeks got red.

“Well, I know we’re not getting married, but that doesn't mean I don't want other guys to know you’re taken, and I thought it was only fair for me to wear one if I expected you to have a ring on your finger.”

I opened both of the boxes, showing her the two silver bands. Mine was plain and hers had a large solitaire circular diamond. “These were my grandparents’. My mom saved them for me and couldn’t be happier that you’re going to be wearing her mother’s ring.”

Serena gaped at me, quickly glancing down at the sparkling stone. “Is this real life?”

“As real as it gets, my love. As real as it could ever get.”

I sighed as I opened the door to our apartment. It was relieving and heartbreaking that Cruz had taken the news about me leaving so well. I knew I would still tattoo on the road here and there, but I had really grown to love Vatican and all the guys I had begun to think of as family.

“So how did it go?” Colt was sitting on the couch with beer in my wine trough, slices of my favorite pizza on plates, and Sense and Sensibility waiting on pause right at the opening credits, the name Alan Rickman blaring in fuzzy letters on the screen.

“Man, you really pulled out all the stops for this one, babe.”

He smiled and helped me with my coat. “I knew this was going to be a hard day, so if I could help make you smile at the end of it, why wouldn’t I? So, the suspense is killing me.”

I took a sip of a freshly opened Coors and slumped onto the couch where Colt joined me. “To be honest, I thought he was going to rip my face off, but luckily he didn’t. Cruz took it way better than I was expecting.”

Colt laughed a little, chewing his slice of deep dish. “That's good!”

“Oh yeah?” I scooted closer to him on the couch, leaning my chin onto his shoulder.

“Mmmm hmmm. I like your face not ripped off.” Colt’s arm wrapped around my shoulder and I leaned into him.

“Total plus for you to spend the rest of your life with a non-hideous chick.”

He pulled me close to him, holding back a laugh. “Fucking right it is.”

“Would you still love me with a ripped off face?”

“I imagine I would, but we wouldn't kiss nearly as often.”

I kissed his cheek. “Love you.”

“I love you Serena, and I always will.”

  The End.

  The Hysterics

A stand alone rock star romance

  Sneak Peek

  Prologue

  FAÇADE

  FALLON

  I was Fallon Dunbar.

  I was a drummer.

I was confident, strong, and driven.

  I was a junkie.

  I am dead.

The full boxes scattered around my small one room apartment made it feel more real. The sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach made it feel so wrong. The new title and job made it feel surreal.

  I am Fae Dunham.

I am the assistant editor of Raging Underground.

I am unsure, nervous, and scared shitless.

  I am in recovery.

Staring into the full length mirror I had just hung up on the back of the door in my new room, I saw the shell of what I used to be, the life I could no longer have. The only traces left of my old life were the lip piercings I refused to take out. They were my favorites and they were staying. People like me don’t get second chances, but for some reason, I was standing knee-deep in one.

  There’s no turning back now.

  I will live again.

  Chapter 1

  PRACTICE & mEMORIES

  DANE

“Hey, man, you all right?” Colt was looking over at me from his seat on his amp.

I gripped the sticks a little tighter in my hands and shook myself from my zone-out. “Yeah. Sorry.” I still couldn’t get Fae off my damn mind.

Maverick tossed a bottle of water over my toms before swinging his bass guitar’s strap back over his shoulder. “Let’s take it from the top?”

My sticks clicked quickly, counting out the beat before sending Maverick and myself into a thumping bassline that shot goose bumps up my arms and legs. It felt like I was falling in love every time we started to play; it was that exciting.

Finally, the groove settled in nicely and we took off into our newest song, which I was sure would rock our show the next night. It took a while, but an hour and a gallon of sweat later, we were satisfied with how “The Lifespan of a Firefly” sounded.

“This is some great writing, Dane. Why haven’t you given us lyrics before?” Rodney holstered the mic and took a swig of his seventh beer while his words slurred a little.

Grabbing a brown bottle out of the fridge, I tried to figure out an answer to his question that didn’t make me sound like a complete pussy. “Never thought anything was good enough before, I guess.”

Epic fail – that dripped vag all over the place. Way to have a backbone.

“Well, from now on, grow a pair and dish out more of this shit. It’s gold. I think we should open with it tomorrow night for sure!”

Colt and Maverick both mumbled and nodded in agreement. My ego felt like it had grown ten times right there on the spot. Being the drummer, I never considered that writing lyrics was something I could be good at. Yeah, I was a journalist. Yeah, I had written angsty teenage poetry when I was younger. But I’d never considered myself an actual writer.

As I slouched onto the worn out couch in Colt’s basement, memories rushed over me like warm acid rain.

Beer and sweat were all I could smell as I wiped my dripping forehead with my shirt sleeve. The gentle hum of the Russells’ dryer slowly faded in, a little too soft after the booming of our last song left the air.

“Great session, guys.” Maverick’s weak smile faded as his words lingered in the space. We all knew and we all felt it, but we left it unsaid. There was too much, and no words could make it better; there was nowhere to begin. It was our first practice after the accident a few weeks before and the tension in the air was suffocating us all.

I nodded and choked out, “You guys think we’re ready?”

Rodney laughed from the couch, gripping the mic in his hand. “We better be. Like it or not, we’re opening tomorrow at Mountain Breath.” His faded Zeppelin shirt was starting to wear a hole next to his collar and his lucky Chucks had mud caked on the sides.

“You gonna dress like a bum for it?” Colt joked, opening another beer we’d stolen from his old man’s stash. Mr. Russell knew we took them but was usually too loaded to care.

Rodney threw a sweat-soaked towel at Colt right as I stood to stretch out the kink that had been building up in my lower back while I’d sat behind my faded burgundy Ludwin set.

“I think it’s going to be sick,” I muttered, trying to be enthusiastic and failing miserably.

Maverick clapped me on my back before starting to put his bass in its case. “You ready?”

Digging my keys out of my pocket, I stared at my sticks where they rested in their bag attached to my floor tom. I stood up gradually from my stool, starting to make my way to the stairs. “Yeah. Let’s head home.”

“Get a good night’s sleep, gents! Tomorrow is going to be epic!” Rodney called up to us from the bottom of the stairs, a sly grin fixed firmly on his face. He had no fucking idea what he was asking of Mav and me, and it was better off that way.

The sound of a beer opening in my ear and the feel of cold suds spraying on my neck and cheek snapped me back to real time. Rodney erupted into a fit of laughter next to me.

“What the hell, man?” I thrashed, wiping my face off with the bottom
of my shirt.

“Come on. I couldn’t resist. You were zoning out again.”

Colt sat in a metal folding chair across the faded lime green carpet, laying his guitar down next to him. “You all right, Dane? You’ve been spacey all night.”

  “Yeah, man. I’m fine.”

I got up and started to make my way up the stairs to take a piss. Right as I opened the basement door, I heard Maverick say in a low voice, “Guys, it’s April thirteenth. You know how he gets around this time.”

My stomach sank. He was right. The twentieth was coming too fast for me to keep up with, and the memories and dreams were getting worse by the day.

  Deep breaths.

  Easier said than done.

Time would pass and it would still be hard, but I was still breathing.

  Fuck it.

As I walked into the living room, trying to make it into the back hallway undetected by Colt’s parents, I heard crying coming from the couch.

Turning on my heels, I found Sheila Russell sobbing into a pillow. When I cleared my throat, she popped her head up, startled by my presence.

“Sheils? You all right?” I looked down at Colt’s kid sister, who was definitely not a kid anymore.
