Scarlett sighed. “I better go before Levi starts repeating what Mitch says. I swear, Levi told me to ‘Cool my tits,' the other day, although he said tator tots instead of tits, thankfully.” Scarlett shook her head and disappeared down the hallway.
“How long is this party?” Luke asked as he wrapped his arms around me from behind and rubbed my tummy.
“Three, four hours. I’m not sure. You should be happy you have your whole family under one roof right now,” I reminded him.
Not only were Mitch and Kurt here, so were his Aunt who was finally out of rehab and getting her life straight, and all of Luke’s friends from the track. “I still don’t know why we had to have the rehearsal dinner here. Kurt’s shop is plenty big to have a party in.”
I turned in Luke’s arms and rested my head on his chest. “You love your family, Luke. Stop acting like a grumpy bear who doesn’t want to see anyone.”
“I don’t mind seeing them,” he gruffed. “I just wish I didn’t have to entertain them when I’d rather be up here with you, naked.”
Luke wrapped his arms tightly around me, and I sighed. “It won’t be long until Frankie goes off to college and Mitch and Scarlett move out, Luke.”
Luke huffed and shook his head. “You heard where Frankie is thinking of going to school now? Fucking Wisconsin. She doesn’t even know anyone up there.”
“She wants to go to a good school. She was telling me about a program they have for car stuff.”
“Car stuff?” Luke laughed.
“Oh, shut up. I have baby brain. I can’t remember what she called it, but it sounded like a good place for her to learn everything she wants to know.”
Luke sighed and pressed a kiss to the top of my head. “I know Frankie is going to go off to school, and Mitch is going to get his own place, but at least I know I’ll always have you and our baby to come home to every night.”
I leaned my head back and looked into Luke’s eyes that were beaming down at me. “Can I say it?” I whispered.
Luke shook his head and knew exactly what I wanted to say. I had started reading children's books at night to my tummy and each night I said the same thing. “Oh Jesus, woman. You and those damn books you read. Go ahead and say it.”
“And they all lived happily ever after.” I sighed.
“Cheesy as hell, woman,” Luke grumbled.
It may have been cheesy, but it was the damn truth.
The Jensen boys had proven to be a rowdy bunch, but when they finally figured out what they wanted, there was no stopping them.
Happily ever after was the only option they settled for.
