Vanquishing Ghosts (Tess Schafer-Medium) Page 33

by Deborah J. Hughes

I pressed my head to Kade's shoulder. "Life is pretty good, Kade."

"That it is." We stopped to share in a quick kiss and then Kade pressed his forehead to mine. "So what's next on the agenda?"

"Well, we still need to put Elijah to rest and there is the Tomb Lady to figure out. And don't forget about that spirit I saw on the bridge in Bucksport. I promised her I'd come back and help."

"So, we've a full plate of spirits to help out."

  "Yes. Is that okay?"

"So long as I am with you, Tess, everything is okay." He pulled me close against him. "I love you."

  "I love you too."

"Hey you guys, plenty of time for that later. We've lots to talk about." Mary urged us along when we turned to look at her and then she smiled at Daniel, a secret look passing between them. "You'll be surprised what we have to share with you."

Now what could that be about? I pulled from Kade's arms and grabbed his hand. "Come on, Mary has a secret and I want to know what it is."

Though Mary and Daniel offered to give us a ride to the house, we waved them ahead. The boys were already running down the road. "We'll catch up, Mary, go ahead."

There was nothing more welcome than emerging from the wooded drive and seeing my house bathed in the bright sunlight shining above it. A magical glow was in the air and I knew in my heart that this place truly was special and I couldn't wait to discover all it had to offer.

Life is a journey and we were on a pretty amazing road. I couldn't wait to get on with it and encounter what more life had coming our way.

  THE END!
