The Blue Eyed Witch

Idylla lifted her face to his and the Marquis’s lips were very close to hers as he said softly, “You are mine, my darling – mine now and for eternity. My own witch, the only woman I have ever really loved and wanted to marry.”
“Are you – sure of – that?”
“More sure than I have ever been of anything in my whole life!”
The Marquis paused before he continued, “I knew when I first saw you that you were different from any woman I had ever known and when I kissed you what I felt was so strange, so unaccountable, that I could not believe it!”
“It was – nice?” Idylla asked.
“It was a magic I cannot describe.”
He saw the joy in her eyes and went on, “When you told me, my beautiful one, that you wanted to love me as my mother would have loved me had she lived, I knew I had found what all men seek – the perfect woman!”
“I am not – perfect – and I might – fail you,” Idylla murmured.
“You are perfect to me,” the Marquis replied, “and I know we will neither of us fail each other.”
“That is what I shall – pray for,” Idylla whispered. “I love you! I love you so completely and absolutely that I could not live – without you!”
It was impossible to finish saying the words, for the Marquis’s lips, passionate and possessive, were on hers.
They were one and he knew that, great as was his need of her as a woman, she was also spiritually a part of his soul.
The Marquis’s kisses grew more insistent, more demanding. He kissed Idylla’s eyes, her cheeks, her neck where a little pulse was beating wildly and then again her lips.
They were swept away by an ecstasy so tempestuous, so overwhelming, that it was the power and majesty of the Divine.
“I love you.”
“I – love – you.”
The words were on their lips, in their hearts and came from their souls.
Then Idylla felt that the Marquis carried her up into the starlit Heaven where there was no fear, no evil, only the perfection of love!
