Heart of the Highlander

Rorie slipped out of her and lay by her side, playing with her nipple. “I hope you rested well last night,” he said.
Smiling, with her eyes still closed, she replied, “I did not rest well because I did not have my husband sleeping beside me.”
“Well then, you will have two sleepless nights under your belt.”
“But it is still day time,” she said.
“Aye, and you will get no sleep this day either.”
Muren rolled over on her side and peeked at him. On his side, he was staring at her breasts again, and she noted his erection growing once more. She could not resist thrusting them forward until he cupped one in his large hand and squeezed.
“You are ready again?” she asked. “So soon?” She shuffled closer to him, thrilling at the thought of him taking her again so quickly.
“Aye, I think I have always been ready for you,” he said and brushed his lips across hers.
“And I you, Rorie. I do love you,” she said.
“And I you, Muren. You are the heart that beats in my chest, the life that flows through my veins, and the sole reason for joy in my life.”
Tears burned her eyes. How many people could claim to share the bond they had forged? Sure, there were couples who had managed to build a marriage, but how many were truly matched with the other half of their soul? Muren reached for him and kissed him soundly on the lips. “You are my heart, my life, and my joy, Rorie MacKenzie.”
He kissed her then, slow and deep, as though no kiss had ever come before and no kiss would come after. No matter what challenges lay ahead, they would have one another to help find a way through it. Two bodies with one heart, beating until the end of time.
