Alex gave her sister a hug, her eyes filling with tears again. “Just think – no more nights sat in this sitting room like this any more. I can’t quite believe it!”
“Oh, don’t start her off again,” smiled Rich. “Come on, Alex, you can spend as much time as you like on Doug and Lettie’s new sofa in Glan Llanfair – well, within reason,” he added to Doug. “We’ll be seeing them tomorrow anyway. We’ll be here with the van at – ooh, about nine, OK?”
Lettie nodded. It all seemed a bit of a dream still. She was so excited and this time, it all felt so right – moving up to be with Doug, the new job that awaited her; she just didn’t know what the future would hold.
Dougie grinned. He knew. And it started with a small stuffed female beaver, currently sat next to a huge bouquet of flowers on his kitchen table, with nothing on but a pink bow tie…
