Leaning back, his hand traveled from where it had been tangled in her hair. He stroked his hand over every inch of her body, taking his time in certain spots. Sara was incredibly aroused at this point, and was trying to move things along.

There was something about his light touches, and the warm look in his eyes that left Sara on edge, though. Despite her attempts to speed him up, he continued his journey slowly, until her arousal had reached fever pitch. Sara started to shift, rolling her hips.

Smiling down at her, he said, “God, I love the way you respond to me,” as he worked his way down her body. Sliding his hand between her thighs, he moaned at the wetness he found. Drawing a nipple into his mouth, he continued to stroke her, moving two fingers into her wet channel as he swirled his tongue around her taut nipple.

Sara was rolling her hips against his hand, little moans in her throat with every brush of her clitoris against his palm.

Finally she said, “Deacon, I can’t take anymore. Please.”

Having reached the edge of his own control, he released her breast, then removed his hand from between her thighs, and rolled over to grab another condom. She watched him take it from the packaging, and roll it over his length.

Moving back over her, poised at her entrance, he said, “Open your eyes. I want to see your eyes when I’m inside you.”

Not even realizing her eyes had flickered shut, she obediently opened them, and stared into his deep brown eyes. Sara was startled by the intensity she saw there. Reaching her head up, she brushed her lips against his, enjoying the way that he drew her lower lip into his mouth to nibble on it.

As his lips released hers, he placed his forehead against hers. Grabbing the hands that had moved up to his face, he pinned them on either side of her body above her head, locking his fingers with hers, and slowly slid into her.

Their breath mingled on the slow sighs of contentment. They made love that way, hands and eyes locked for a long time. There was no real urgency, until Sara felt her body tighten with impending release.

He continued to slide into her with the same steady pace, occasionally leaning down to nip at her lower lip.

Whimpering his name, she said, “Deacon, oh god, I’m coming.”

Letting out a low moan, she felt her whole body tense and then explode.

Deacon began to thrust faster now, his pelvis slamming against hers until her body tensed again. Never taking his eyes off her, he watched her come undone a second time, finding his release with hers.

Kissing her again, slowly, he pulled out of her, then went to take care of the condom, then moved back to the bed.

Thoroughly sated, they both lay in bed, draped over one another on the edges of sleep until Sara finally said, “I need to be at work early tomorrow. I need to get going.”

Deacon’s arm tightened around her and he sleepily murmured, “I can take you in the morning.”

Skeptically, Sara asked, “Uh. I need to be out of here by six thirty. Is that okay?”

Sighing, he loosened his arm, then rolled over to the alarm clock, setting it.

Rolling back, he pulled her back into his arms and said, “See. I even set the alarm for six.”

Deacon dropped a drowsy kiss on the top of her head, then tilted her chin up to look her in the eye and huskily said, “Stay with me.”

Weighing the options, Sara said, “Okay,” then relaxed in his arms, drifting off to sleep.

When the alarm clock went off, Sara opened her eyes, blinking at the unfamiliar darkness. Slowly, she became aware of the warm, hard body pressed up against her back. A hand traveled from where it had been carelessly slung over her, up her body to her breast. Feeling his mouth trail a line of kisses along her bare shoulder, she sighed, feeling goose bumps rise on her arms.

Snuggling back against Deacon with a distinctive wiggle of her bottom, she heard his intake of breath and then felt his hand slide down to her hip. His grip tightened as he pressed his arousal against her.

“Mmm…morning,” Sara said, arching her back, feeling a jolt of pleasure run through her system as Deacon’s hand moved back up to tweak her nipple again.

Deacon mumbled something that could be construed as good morning as he dragged his teeth lightly over the skin of her shoulder and continued to stroke her.

Sara’s breath quickened as she felt her body respond to the bristle of his five o’clock shadow against her shoulder, and his fingertips as he lightly pinched her nipple between his thumb and forefinger.

Lifting his head from her shoulder, Deacon said, “There’s time for a shower if you want…or…”

On the tail of an audible shuddering breath, she asked, “What is this ‘or’ that you speak of?”

Sliding his hand down her body, his hand ventured between her thighs. Finding her sopping wet, he groaned against her neck and said, “Fuck, Sara. Don’t move.”

Rolling over to the nightstand to grab a condom, he quickly rolled it on and repositioned himself behind her. Moving her thigh slightly, he rubbed his cock across her opening, eliciting a moan from them both.

Thrusting forward, he said, “This is the ‘or.’ Interested?”

Trying to press back against him, in a frustrated moan, she said, “Yes. Stop teasing.”

Holding her hips steady, he slowly slid the rest of the way inside her, both of them groaning at the delicious friction.

She pushed her hips back to meet him and he stilled her hips, grabbing them roughly, and bit out the words, “Don’t move those hips.”

Though her eyebrows rose slightly at his tone, she complied.

He began pushing into her, slowly, until she began to whimper with each time his cock slid in to the hilt. She had to bite her lip from the effort of not rolling her hips to meet his. Sliding his hand down, he massaged slow circles around her clit and said, “Don’t bite that lip. I want to hear you come around my cock.”

Increasing the speed of his fingers, and the pace of his thrusts, Sara cried out. Now audibly moaning with every stroke, she could feel the delicious tension of her orgasm building.

“Is that what you wanted?” he asked, using two fingers now to rub against her clit.

Whimpering as the pleasure continued to build, Sara said, “Yes. Fuck.”

Deacon groaned, dropping his mouth back to her shoulder, nipping at it roughly as her breathing became more labored, and then bit down on the place where her shoulder and neck met as she tightened and fluttered around his cock.

Crying out in surprise and release, she called out his name.

Deacon continued to thrust in to her more roughly now, then tensed behind her, the groan of his own release muffled in her neck.

They both lay there, breathing heavily. Not so much from the exertion, but from the intensity until Sara said, “You’ve got a filthy mouth too,” with a breathless laugh.

Rolling away, Deacon laughed, then got up to discard the condom and said, “You don’t seem to mind.”

Sara lay back on the bed, stretching her arms above her head, and said, “I don’t mind at all. Honestly, it makes me really hot.”

She got up out of bed to look for her clothes, and said, “Oh shit. It’s six thirty-five.”

Wincing, Deacon looked for his pants, and threw them on, sans boxers, and said, “Shit. I’m sorry. Should have set the alarm for five thirty.”

Laughing, Sara said, “No worries. I’ll be able to make up time but I really have to leave now.”

Grabbing a clean T-shirt, and putting on his shoes, he said, “Your chariot awaits.”

  Chapter 12

Once they finished dressing, they walked down to the car. The drive to Sara’s place was mostly silent. She seemed to be doing some heavy thinking. Deacon stole another quick glance at her and saw her staring blankly out the window.

Putting his hand on her thigh, he asked, “Is everything okay?”

Sara smiled, though it didn’t quite reach her eyes, and said, “I’m a little tired. Someone kept me up.”

/>   “If we drive through, do you think we’d have time to stop for coffee?” Deacon asked, his own eyes feeling scratchy from lack of sleep.

Glancing at the clock on the dash, she said, “Yeah. Assuming the drive-thru isn’t backed up, then yes.”

Deacon chuckled at her hopeful expression, then switched lanes when he saw a Simon’s Coffee coming up. The drive-thru was mercifully empty.

After getting their coffees they settled back into silence again. By the time he finally pulled into her driveway, he felt like something was off. Sara had barely spoken at all, and was basically avoiding eye contact with him. He didn’t know what was up, but he was going to find out.

Turning off the ignition, he shifted to face her. He tipped her face back toward him and said, “You sure you’re okay? You seem off, somehow.”

Not quite meeting his eyes, she said, “Seriously. I’m good. Just tired.”

Deciding that she was a crappy liar, he asked, “How long? A full day?”

“Till six-ish. It’s gonna be a really long day.”

“Jeez. You’re not kidding. I’m sorry. I totally should have just taken you home last night.”

Laughing, Sara said, “Uh. No that was totally worth it. I’ll sleep tonight.”

Brushing his lips across her forehead, he asked, “You’re a busy woman. When might I see you again?”

Seeing the pleasure bloom in her eyes, Deacon deduced what the silence was about.

Rather than addressing it, he just leaned back, waiting for her reply.

“Tonight is…tonight. And Sunday I’ve got a day event, then a thing at night. Monday I’ll be at JDC. I should be able to break free in the evening though.”

Ignoring most of her comment, he said, “What kind of thing? Like a date?”

Blinking, Sara said, “Uh. No, like I’m going out with my friends. We’re going to drink copious amounts of wine and discuss you. Why do you ask?”

Laughing, Deacon said, “Fair enough. I guess after last night I’m trying to figure out what your expectation of this is,” Deacon said, waving his hand between them.

“Expectation? I don’t know that I have one. I figured we’d just see what happened. What expectation should I be having?”

Deacon sighed, slightly frustrated, and ran his hand through his messy hair and said, “I’m trying to tell you that this mattered. Despite all previous experience you’ve had with me, I’m not that guy anymore. If I’m sleeping with you, I’m not seeing anyone else.”

Sara’s eyes softened and she said, “It did matter. It does. I’d like to see where this goes. I don’t feel particularly inclined to date anyone else, either. I’m sure as hell not sleeping with anyone else. Last night was the best sex I’ve ever had. By a ridiculously wide margin.”

  Smirking, Deacon asked, “How ridiculous?”

Sara laughed and said, “I’ve really gotta go now.”

Deacon leaned forward, brushing his lips against hers and said, “Me too, by the way. Huge margin. Like, not even close.”

Sara grinned and said, “I’ll text you later,” then leaned in and planted a long, slow kiss on his lips. After she had pulled back, and opened the car door, she looked back to see Deacon blinking.

She exited the car, giving him a little wave as she unlocked her front door.

Slowly backing out of the driveway, he drove back to his apartment, took a hot shower, got halfway dressed, then decided to crawl back in bed.

Finally surfacing around noon, he wandered into the kitchen. Absently scratching his bare chest, he looked for something to eat. Deciding to make a sandwich, he wandered into the living room with it and flipped on the television.

Just as he was starting to get comfortable, there was a knock on his door. He went to unlock it, and looked down at his boxers. Oh well, he thought. Come over unannounced and you get to see my boxers.

Looking out the peephole, he saw Chloe staring impatiently at the door. Flipping the locks, he opened the door said, “C’mon in. Gonna go get some clothes on.”

Wandering back into the living room, fully dressed, he said, “Hey Chlo. What’s up?” then paused to stare at her as she took a bite of his sandwich.

“What the hell?! Gimme my sandwich, brat!”

Chloe laughed, her mouth full. When she had finished chewing, she said, “So things are going well with Sara then?”

Momentarily distracted by her question, he forgot about the sandwich and peered at her suspiciously, slowly saying, “Yes.”

“No kidding. The fingernail scratches on your back kind of gave it away, stud,” Chloe said, laughing loudly.

“None of your business, kid, but yes. Things are going well.”

Deacon shifted uncomfortably on the couch.

Thoroughly enjoying his discomfort, she asked, “So. You guys are a thing now?”

Deacon nodded and said, “I think so. She’s kind of hard to pin down. But yeah. I really like her.”

Nodding, Chloe said, “I can see that. What about your working relationship though?”

“What about it? We’re going to keep things as separate as possible. She’s doing a bang-up job, so I don’t have any complaints there.”

“Makes sense. So, you think this will stick?” Chloe asked, scanning his face.

Shrugging he said, “I dunno. Based on our history, she’s leery and I don’t think she trusts me yet.”

“Well you walked out on her after sex with a handshake. Of course she’s nervous, fuck stick. But that’s not what I asked you,” Chloe said, apparently channeling some rage on behalf of the entire female species.

Deacon stared at her, his eyes narrowed, then he said, “Chris. That asshole. He told you?”

Laughing, she said, “At the club the other night, two shots and he was telling all.”

Sobering, she asked, “So like I asked…do you think this will stick?”

Frowning, he said, “I don’t know. I really hope it does.”

Giving him a sympathetic look, she said, “It’ll be fine, Deak. The fact she slept with you is promising.”

“Thanks, I think. So. What do you want?” Deacon asked, dryly.

Then he added, “Not that I don’t love it when you come over unannounced and pry into my personal life.”

“Just wanted to stop in. I was home, and bored. And I missed your ugly face. What do you have planned?”

“Uh, Chris is coming over to watch the LAU game. Why?”

“Because I wanted to hang out with you, dumb ass.”

“Jeez, fuck stick and dumb ass. Really feeling the love here,” Deacon said smirking.

Then continued, “Well, if you want to stay, we’re ordering pizza and Chris is bringing beer. I can ask him to stop and pick up some of your girly stuff if you want.”

Smirking, Chloe said, “I’ll drink your man beer, thanks.”

Tossing a pillow from the sofa at her, he said, “Go make me another sandwich.”

Flipping him the bird, she stretched out in the recliner.

Huffing, Deacon got up to go make himself another sandwich. Just as he was finishing up, Chloe shouted, “Can you bring me a drink?”

Yelling, “Ha,” he walked back into the living room and stared at the TV. Mysteriously, the channel had changed to E!

Shaking his head, he said, “No way. Turn this shit off. Football. Fox. Now.”

Laughing, she said, “You should have gotten me a drink.”

Grumbling, he looked for the remote then decided she must have hidden it.

He walked toward the receiver and flipped the channel until football was back on and said, “C’mon. You’re killing me here.”

Finally she tossed him the remote and then wandered into the kitchen to grab a beer. After opening it, she said, “Who’re they playing?”

  “The Bucks.”

The door buzzed. Deacon wandered to the intercom, hearing Chris’s static-filled voice, he buzzed him in. Standing at the door to meet him, he immediately nailed him in the arm and
said, “Seriously. You freaking told my sister!”

Chris backed off, yelling, “Ouch. Dick! Yes I did. I talk too much when I drink. You know this about me. The way I figure it, you left me with her unsupervised. It’s your own fault.”

Noticing Chloe on the couch, he said, “Oh. Hey, Chlo. Thanks for selling me out.”

Giving him a wave, Chloe smiled innocently.

Looking back at Deacon and rubbing his arm, he said, “Shit. Man. That hurt.”

Deacon laughed and said, “Pussy.” Then he took the beer from Chris and stuck it in the refrigerator. Chris followed him into the kitchen, snagging one from the open pack and popping off the cap.

“So how did the date go?” Chris asked.

Clearly eavesdropping on the conversation, Chloe cackled from the living room.

Realizing she had dirt, Chris moved back to the living room with Deacon right on his heels and said, “Give me details, Chlo. You owe me.”

Chris gave her a dirty look and rubbed his arm for good measure.

Chloe continued to laugh and said, “I don’t have details. Thank Jesus. However, you may want to ask Deacon about the scr—”

Suddenly cut off by a pillow to the face, she moved it and continued completely unfazed. “Scratches on his back.”

Eyebrows raised, Chris said, “So it went well then.”

Deacon smirked a little, and said, “Yes. Now can we stop gossiping like old women?”

Flopping back down on his couch, he stretched out, and turned up the television.

Shifting topics, Chloe said, “Our defensive line looks like shit this season. Hope the Bucks aren’t bringing much on offense.”

Chris took a long swig and said, “Their passing game is crap.”

Snorting, Chloe said, “Which is also fortuitous because our secondary is shit, too.”

Shaking his head and smirking, Chris said, “You’ve got such a foul mouth, Chloe.”

“What can I say, I’m a classy bitch.”

Chris tipped his beer at her, toasting her statement and agreed, “That you are.”

Deacon sat there, idly listening to the conversation, sipping his beer. Naturally his thoughts drifted to Sara. As if by magic, his phone buzzed.
