The Irresistible Mr. Sinclair

by Joan Elliott Pickart

On the morning they were to catch a plane to fly to California to board the cruise ship, Taylor announced that he had to stop at his office on the way to the airport.

“Did you forget to do something?” Janice said as they drove away from the house.

“Not exactly,” Taylor said. “I just need to take care of some unfinished business.”

In the parking lot, Taylor removed a tissue-wrapped package from the back seat of the car. Janice looked at him questioningly, but he only smiled as they went into the building.

In Taylor’s office, he pushed aside the cracked pen set from the edge of his desk and removed the tissue from the mysterious parcel in his hand.

Then carefully, reverently, he set a framed picture in the empty space on the desk. It was a color photograph of him and Janice taken in the gazebo in Prescott on their wedding day.

“There,” he said, pulling Janice into his arms. “Now everything is perfect, Mrs. Sinclair.”

“Yes,” she said softly, gazing up at him. “Everything is perfect, Mr. Sinclair, and it will be...forever.”
