Kit wrapped a rough hand around mine and led me to the bar. He prompted me to sit on the open bar stool, standing at my back and placing his hands on the bar either side of me. I was beginning to think this man had something about control, needing to pin me down every chance he got.

His spiky beard tickled the side of my face as he leaned into me. “Beer.” His breath was warm against my cheek and the smell of cool mint chewing gum wafted over me. God. Even his breath smelled incredible.

“Caleb! Can we grab two beers?”

Caleb looked over at me from down the bar with a smile. His eyes widened as he saw the man standing at my back and rushed over, pulling two beers and popping the caps.

  “Here you go, Harmz.”

“Thanks, hun,” I said with a smile while Kit merely raised his drink in a cheers motion.

“Hey, Prez. You disappeared after Church, everything good?”

Kit uncaged me and I swiveled my chair around to find another very handsome man standing behind me. His hair was blond and longer than Kit’s with it almost hanging in his eyes. His body shape was very similar, it was what was attached to his body that made me screw up my nose.

Dana was plastered to the dude’s side like a leech and she was eyeing me with apparent disdain. I smiled knowing it was because of Kit who was now leaning back against the bar with his arm stretched out behind me.

“Yeah man, we’re good. A couple of Optimus’ girls had an issue with a guy in town this afternoon. Putting a man on them for a bit in case something comes of it,” Kit explained casually. His voice seemingly relaxed for the first time since he’d spoken in Optimus’ office. “Harmony, this is my best friend and my Sargent at Arms, Tally. Tally, this is Harmony.”

I reached out and shook his hand. He offered me a great smile which lit up the room. I saw Dana look up at Tally with a smile, apparently expecting an introduction also. When it never came, she slumped a little but kept her grip on his body. Tally to Kit must’ve been like what Blizzard was to Optimus. Their personalities the complete opposite, but balancing each other out perfectly.

A thought clicked in my head and I nearly spit my beer out, while trying to contain my laughter. They all looked at me strangely. The laughter finally broke free after I’d choked on half a mouthful of my drink.

Kit bumped me with his hip, catching my attention. “You gonna share with the group?”

I cleared my throat. “Was just thinking about how these two match.” I gestured between Tally and Dani. “Tally and Ho.” I was barely able to get the words out before another giggle bubbled to the surface. I knew I could get in trouble for somewhat insulting a Brother. But that shit was just too funny to keep in. I felt relief when I looked to my side to find a genuine smile broken through Kit’s previously stern expression. Laughter burst from Tally’s mouth and he held out a fist. I didn’t hesitate in bumping it with my own.

Dana departed not long after with a stomp in her step and a flick of her hair. That was how I ended up sitting at the bar with Tally and Kit, learning how to properly fist bump and how to make it explode.

Watching her on that damn stage had my dick straining uncomfortably against my jeans. The bitch was hot. More than hot. Fucking scorching.

She moved like a silk scarf in a light breeze, her curves softly swaying and twisting. The song she danced to was dark and slow, her actions flowing in perfect time with the music and reflecting the heart-wrenching lyrics. It was like the music was inside her and working its way out. It was hypnotizing and I couldn’t stop my body as it moved closer. I wanted to memorize her figure, her curves, and the way her hair flowed as she flicked herself around the pole.

When she was done, I was met with two wide hazel eyes. Fucking beautiful.

When I’d heard Optimus order a brunette to grab the girl on the stage and meet him in his office, I knew I had to be in on that.

And that was it. I was done for, straight after the moment she opened her mouth to object to Optimus’ order of protection. He’d shot her down with some stern words about her following orders and she had fallen into place fast after that.

I didn’t have an Old Lady for a reason. There were certain characteristics I needed the woman at my side to have. It was essential for her to be strong and opinionated, but she also needed to know that I was in charge and when she should back down. I wanted a woman who would challenge me, but that would accept that the rules that I place within my club and my home are there for the protection of my family. I didn’t need a woman that was going to fall at my feet and worship the ground I walked on. I wanted a woman who was strong enough to stand beside me as an equal.

I saw all these things in her.

Telling me she was a club whore had only made my need to own her grow stronger. Knowing these men used her body for their own pleasure made me sick. I didn’t want to just possess her body. I wanted her mind, her fucking soul and I was going to have it.

“You wanna dance?” Harmony asked, looking up at me from her seat. Three beers in her and her eyes were sparkling with intoxication and lust, but she was still holding herself well. I knew she wanted me. I hadn’t missed the way her eyes roamed my body or how she leaned into me when I was close. I also knew what she was expecting. She was here as a club girl, there to please the men. She thought that was all I wanted from her and I was prepared to prove her fucking wrong.

  “I don’t dance.”

Her mouth fell open and I suppressed the urge to force her to her knees and shove my cock in it.

“Those sexy hips don’t sway? That’s gotta be a crime.”

“Only crime is you being here as a club girl and not at home like an Old Lady should be.” The words hadn’t meant to fall from my lips, but I couldn’t stop them. This bitch had my head all crazy. She looked reasonably shocked for a moment, an unexpected emotion. A lot of women would have taken that as an invitation and jumped all over it. But not this girl. Not her.

“Where would the fun in that be?” She winked and did well to hide the apprehension on her face. I’d let her have that one. Harmony and I sat at a table alone in the far corner of the room. I could party like the best of them, but the intrigue I felt for her was overpowering any of my other urges for the night. I needed to get to know her better.

“You hang out at the clubhouse all day?”

She shook her head while she sipped at her beer. “Not every day. I go to class three times a week and Optimus allows me time to study, so I usually do it at the library where the men can’t interrupt.”

I tried to ignore the comment about the men and went with the other shit. “What kinda classes you take?”

“I’m a music major. It’s been a big part of my life since I was little and it’s the only thing I can see in my future.” She took another sip of her beer and I waited quietly for her to continue, “My mom is a publicist. She’s worked with bands and musicians my whole life. Sometimes we would even tour around the country with them when I was little. The big bands always got into trouble and needed someone there consistently to make public statements and excuses for them.” She let a small giggle free.

“Ah, bred in your blood, huh.”

“I feel like that. Even in quiet rooms I’m constantly humming tunes in my head. If I didn’t have music, I would feel like I’d lost a part of my body.” She swirled the beer bottle on the table, her eyes watching it spin and twist. “What’s bred in your blood?”

The question threw me a little, but the answer slipped out without needing any thought. “The club.”

“Why?” Her eyes looked up at me, meeting mine head on – something I’d found people rarely did when speaking to me. I didn’t know if it was that they were afraid or whether they thought it was disrespectful to do so, but it pissed me off. They said the eyes were the pathway to the soul and I firmly believed just that. How was I supposed to read someone, who they were, what they stood for if I couldn’t see into their eyes?

  “Why?” I repeated.

Yeah, why?” She stood firm on her question and I admired the way she never wavered.

“My father was the National President back in Aussie before he moved here and started the chapter in Troy. Brothers by Blood has twelve chapters just in the States, and men came from all over to join his club. They uplifted their families, left towns that they’d lived in since they were born just so they could follow his lead.” My father was a great man. Well-known. Well-respected. Well-loved. He would lay his life down for his Brothers and their families and simply because of that, people lined up to do the same for him. My father had led the club with an iron fist, and at times could be so hardheaded it was infuriating. But he had more heart than anyone I’d ever met. He never saw it as a weakness, but as a strength.

  “Ah, the accent!”

I smirked. “Yeah, haven’t ever spent much time back in Australia, but I guess growing up and listening to my dad, the twang stuck a little.”

“He sounds like an amazing man.” She smiled.

“He is…” I paused. “What does your father do?”

She laughed. “You tell me and we’ll both know.”

I didn’t push. It was obvious it was a subject that we were not ready to approach as of yet. Maybe one day.

While it was hard to picture Harmony as a club whore, I could see why the men would gravitate toward her. Harmony was easy to talk to. She was smart, beautiful and independent. She didn’t throw her tits in your face or bend over and beg you to fuck her like most club girls. No, she was sexy in a different kind of way. The girls we had back home were nothing like her. They were leeches of the worst kind. Always after something more than you were willing to give – your patch, your heart, your child. I’d seen more than one man fall into a pregnancy trap. While all club girls were expected to be on more permanent contraception, it was our job to make sure we still wrapped that shit up. But a man is never one hundred percent on his game. Shit happened.

Harmony wasn’t made to be a club girl. She was definitely Old Lady material and I was going to make her see that.

“You play guitar?” Kit asked with a squeeze of my thigh. It was getting late. A lot of men had found their women for the night and had taken things to the bedrooms or a quiet corner. Kit had barely touched me throughout the night, other than a hand at my back to direct me around the room or a hand on my bare thigh. And it wasn’t to say I hadn’t tried. I was beginning to wonder whether he actually wanted me and if he didn’t, why he was demanding my presence for the entire night.

There was only a small group of us left. A couple of Kit’s men, including Tally, who had taken quite a shine to Kat. Optimus and Chelsea, who were all but screwing on the couch opposite us, and Blizzard and Slider, who had come in after their shift at X-Rated.

Chelsea piped up from her space on Optimus’ lap. “She does! She’s really good too.”

Kit gave me a small shove. “Go get your guitar,” his voice was stern. No space for argument. I rolled my eyes and retrieved my guitar from my room, throwing the strap over my shoulder and strumming at it as I walked down the hallway.

“Play ‘Me And My Broken Heart,’” Chelsea asked solemnly. I didn’t miss the way her eyes flicked to Optimus. The look was meaningful and something played out between them silently.

The song was Chelsea’s number one request, secretly one of my favorites too. There were no objections, everyone sat quietly with their eyes on me. I didn’t play for the men very often. Music was a large piece of my life, but one I kept very separate from my club life.

Kit’s fingers tapped the arm of the couch in time with the song. His eyes never deviated from me. Always watching. Studying. Like there was something he was waiting for.

I closed my eyes. Losing myself in the rhythm of the music was one of my favorite parts of playing. It allowed me to feel the lyrics. If I could sense what the person was trying to express when they wrote the song, it made it all that more powerful, more intimate.

As I hit the pre-chorus of the song, my eyes shot open wide when I heard a harmony coming from one of the men. Mix, one of Kit’s men, began to sing along with me. I watched as he sat forward and started tapping out a drum style beat on the small wooden coffee table in front of him. I grinned as I met Mix’s eyes and we both belted out the chorus. I couldn’t stop smiling when the song was finished and I put my guitar down. Mix reached over and offered me his fist which I bumped and then exploded just like the way Tally had taught me.

“Girl, your voice is incredible,” Mix complimented.

I blushed and sat back on the couch. Kit slipped his arm behind me and cradled my waist, pulling me tightly against his body. The most affection he’d shown all night since our hallway encounter.

“Thanks. I’m at the college here studying music. Mainly writing and playing, but I sometimes sing too.”

“I’ve heard you play before, but nothing like that. It was like you were in another world,” Slider said, staring at me in awe.

“Thanks,” was all I managed, the complements all making me want to hide away.

Kit’s lips brushed my ear. “Which room’s yours?”

I pointed toward the hallway that led to the club girls’ rooms. We all had individual rooms downstairs, easy for the men when they needed us. The Brothers who lived at the clubhouse were in the rooms upstairs.

“I’ll meet you there in five,” he whispered for my ears only and tapped my side twice. I sat forward and gripped my guitar.

  “Night all.”

Slider smiled at me. “You going to bed alone, Harmz? Need someone to keep you warm?” I cringed. Saying no to a Brother was a big no-no, unless we felt like the situation was harmful or we felt unsafe. Target’s little performance the other day didn’t go unnoticed by Optimus, but in the end he had agreed that my refusal was valid.

“She’s fine,” Kit snapped. Slider held up his hands in surrender, the both of us are a little surprised by his sharp tone. Kit turned to me and flicked his head. “Go.”

I nodded quickly and hustled down the hall to my room. Leaving the door ajar, I proceeded to strip off my top and skirt. After watching Kit all night, the way he spoke, and the way he controlled the room and his men, I was more than ready for him to do the same to me.

The sense of need overwhelmed any of my other feelings. It was a strange feeling, one I’d never felt so strongly before. I wanted his body, slick and grinding on top of me, leading me and demanding my submission to him. Kit had driven me crazy, avoiding my advances but continuing to hold me captive for the entire night. Several explanations floated through my mind. Maybe he was just a private man, preferring to take his sexual encounters somewhere away from prying eyes. Or maybe he was just that controlling that he liked the idea of me following him around like a lost puppy while he teased me, knowing I couldn’t leave his side.

I quickly perked my breasts up inside my strapless bra. The matching bra and panties set was a gorgeous scarlet color with an intricate black lace trim. My favorite. I sat at the edge of the bed, my arms behind me, propping me up and my legs crossed.

It didn’t take long for the door to slowly swing open. Kit stood in the doorway, his tall stature allowing him to grip the top of the frame, his shirt lifting to show me a delicious sliver of his tanned and well-sculptured stomach. His eyes sparkled as they finally met my body.

I stood up slowly, one hand going to my hair and brushing it away from my face. He dipped his head, continuing to stare at me through dark hooded eyes.

“You giving yourself to me?” He moved inside the room and closed the door. His body filled the small space as he floated closer.

I nodded and he reached out to wrap his large hand around the back of my neck much the same as Target had done to me a couple of days before. My lips parted and a tiny gasp escaped. But this time I wasn’t scared, Target’s grip had been menacing and done purposely to cause me pain, to show me who was boss. Kit’s grasp was possessive and intimate like he was trying to connect us.

  H
e stepped closer, allowing me to finally be within reach of his body. I took full advantage, slipping my hands under his shirt and cut and exploring his body with just my touch. I felt tiny bumps rise on his skin, leaving a trail behind the path of my hands and letting me know he was just as affected by this as I was. His stomach rippled with abs and his skin was silky smooth under my fingers.

“Good. Now we have that established, I’m fucking exhausted and need some damn sleep. Get into bed,” he gruffed, releasing me and walking into my small bathroom. I stood there stunned, staring at the room he’d disappeared into. I heard the tap running and splashing water.

What in the actual fuck just happened?

Kit walked out, shirtless and rubbing at his wet face with a towel. He stopped when he saw me and shot me the sexiest smile I’d ever seen on a man - teeth, dimples and fucking everything.

“Did you get that, babe?” I didn’t know what to do or say so I continued to stand there and stare at him, probably looking like a right idiot. “I’m tired and I called a Church for early in the morning, so I need to get some sleep.”

“I got that part,” I shot sarcastically.

He chuckled, throwing the towel back through the bathroom door and switching off the light inside. “Still confused?”

  “A little,” I answered honestly.

He rolled his eyes and sauntered toward me. He cupped my chin and forced my eyes to his. “I refuse to treat you like a club whore, Harmony.”

I flinched at the word whore. I knew what I was, but hearing the derogatory term come from his lips and directed at me made my body cringe.

“Why?” I asked quietly, my body flooded with conflicting emotions. I knew he wanted to fuck me. The evidence was present in the front of his straining jeans. But for whatever reason he was fighting it.

“Because you’re more than that.” He touched his lips to my forehead with a softness that I wouldn’t have expected from him. “Bed, Harmony.”
