Kayne’s Fury: A Savage Saints MC Novel
Page 14
Kayne grabs his gavel and pounds it on the table, making me jump. “Let’s get down to business. We figured out who destroyed Poison and Siren’s club, but what we didn’t know was why. After I made a few calls, I had a lead. Now, we as a club, owe a favor. I’m not sure when or where, but Krimson will be calling to cash in.” Mumbles of shock are filtered throughout the room and Kayne pounds his gavel on the table, causing everyone to shut up.
“After last night, Poison found out more information. She proved her worth to our club. I would like to take this time, before she tells us what she found out, to bring something to the table.”
Everyone stares at me, causing my heart to race and sweat to bead on my brow. The chill I had outside is gone replaced by anxiety. What is Kayne doing? What’s he talking about? My mind is running a million miles an hour. I didn’t do anything special.
“Poison, please stand up.” Kayne orders. Like a good little solider, I rise to my feet on unsteady legs. I wipe the sweat gathered on my palms onto my jeans and take a deep breath, trying to even my breathing before I pass out. “I’d like everyone to vote. Yay or Nay on offering Poison a position in our club. After last night, she proved her worth and extracted information from a Black Destroyer member. Not just a member, but the VP of their club. Someone who killed with no qualms and had no remorse. Then without hesitation, she ended his life. So, I will go around the table. Give your answer in voting her in as our Cleaner. Someone who will get the job done and make you all proud of who she is.”
I’m speechless. My mouth is hanging open and I snap it shut. I thought he was joking last night when he told me about it. I didn’t think Kayne would really want me to be an actual member of his club. This is unheard of and it’s obvious the Savage Saints go by their own rules.
“Talon, we’ll start with you,” Kanye speaks, snapping me out of my own inner ramblings. I don’t look at Talon or anyone at all. I keep my eyes on the table.
“Yay,” Talon’s deep voice penetrates the silent room.
“Butch?” Kayne asks.
“Yay,” Butch responds.
“Maddox?”
“Yay.”
Kayne goes around the table calling out each member getting a Yay from each of them. My heart is pounding hard in my chest and excitement is filling my veins. I might actually be a part of something instead of a cast off like Drex treated me. Each Yay is bringing me closer until we get to Stryker. I know he’s an asshole but I don’t know what he will do. After the blow up in the kitchen, I’m afraid he’ll have the power to stop me. I finally look up from the table when Kayne calls his name.
“Stryker? Yay or Nay?” he asks. Kayne’s face is impassive remaining neutral, but I see a tick in his left eye. My gaze drifts to Stryker. He’s sitting in his chair watching me, watch him. His arms are crossed over his chest, dread fills my body from the glare he’s giving me.
After what feels like several minutes, Stryker offers me a smile that lights up his whole face, making him handsome in his own severely fucked up ways. “Yay, anyone who can stand up to me like she did, deserves a place at the table.”
I release a breath I didn’t realize I was holding. I look at Kayne and he’s smiling at me his perfect white teeth are gleaming in the lights. Pride shines in his eyes. He slams the gavel down, creating an echo in the room.
“It’s unanimous. Poison please step forth.” His blue eyes are watching me, hooded with desire and heat pools between my legs. I step toward Kayne as he stands up in his chair and grabs something behind him. When I reach him, he turns around with a cut. “This is yours. Wear this whenever you go into public or around others. Wear it with pride. You are now an official member of the Savage Saints.”
He hands me the leather cut and I look it over. There’s a patch with my name on it over the right breast and on the left is a Cleaner patch. On the back is the Savage Saints MC log. The material is soft but flexible in my hands and the smell is intoxicating. I’ve always dreamed of being a part of an MC, but never voiced it. Kayne helps me put it on and it’s a perfect fit. He pulls my hair out from underneath and kisses my cheek.
“Later, I’m going to fuck you in nothing but this,” he whispers in my ear, low enough only I can hear him.
I swallow hard and meet his ice blue eyes, hooded with desire, “I’ll hold you to that.” I whisper back, inhaling his scent.
“Let’s get down to our next order of business,” Kayne barks, adjusting his hard cock while he sits down. I hold in my laughter from the strain in his voice and take my own seat. Siren wipes tears from her eyes and gives me a quick hug.
“I have one request,” I speak raising my hand. I don’t know if I have to do that, but fuck it, I do anyways.
“Yes?” Kayne addresses me.
“Duke,” I answer.
“What about him?”
“Don’t you think he should be patched in? He’s gone above and beyond his roll as a Prospect.”
Kayne looks around the room and everyone is nodding their heads in agreement. “Ok, let’s vote. All in favor of making Duke a Patch member say Yay.”
Several Yay’s are loud and undeniable, making me proud of these brothers. “Poison? What’s your vote?” Kayne asks snapping me out of my trance.
“Me?” I point to myself.
“Yes, you.” Kayne points to me. “You’re an official member, we need your vote.”
“Oh! Yay, definitely, Yay.” I’m so excited, I can hardly sit still in my chair. That was so cool. I feel like a school girl being called upon by her favorite teacher asking for her opinion.
Kayne bangs his gavel on the table, silencing the room. “Tex, go get Duke.” He orders. Tex stands up and schools his features before walking out of the room. “Now, I know this is your first rodeo, Poison. So, when Tex comes back with Duke, I’m going to need you to remain impassive. No smile, no twinkle, no girly squeal of excitement. Not until after he’s patched in.” Kayne gives me a reassuring smile and I nod my head.
“Got it. No girly squeals or smiles. I can do this.” I repeat.
The door swings open, banging against the wall. I compose myself and glare at Duke. The rest of the guys are glaring too. Duke swallows hard as he enters the room, watching all of us. He closes the door behind him with a light click. His eyes light up in surprise when he sees me with a cut and patch. Tex takes his seat in the middle of the table, crossing his arms over his chest, pinning Duke to his spot. I watch Duke’s Adams apple bob up in down and his hands shake with fear, sweat beading on his brow.
“Duke,” Kayne growls. Duke’s eyes widen and snap to Kayne, not saying a word. “Someone here has brought something to my attention. Is there anything you have to confess before we continue?” Kayne’s voice is low and deadly. I squirm in my seat, trying to relieve the ache in my core from his voice. God this man turns me the fuck on.
“No, Prez.” Duke shakes his head and stands tall. Kayne rises from his seat and stalks over to Duke.
“Give me your cut.” He holds out his hand as Duke shrugs his cut off and hands it to him. His whole body is shaking with fear. Kayne whips out a knife and removes Duke’s prospect patch. “It’s been voiced that after the last two years, you’re still a prospect in the Savage Saints.”
“Yes, Prez. That’s correct.” Duke replies nodding his head. “Two great years.”
“Shut it Duke. I didn’t ask what you thought.” Kayne demands. Duke snaps his mouth shut, unsure of what’s going on. He picks up Duke’s cut and walks back over to his seat. He grabs something from Blayde and walks back to Duke, hiding it in the palm of his hand. Kayne glares at Duke and Duke swallows hard. He’s scared shitless, but if I were in his shoes, I’d be terrified too.
“Duke, we’ve come to a decision.” Kayne lays Duke’s cut on the table, the Savage Saints logo facing up. “That the past two years, you’ve done everything and anything we’ve asked. From retrieving assholes, to taking care of our enemies, cooking, cleaning, and bike tune-ups. From here on out, we th
e Savage Saints MC, decided to pledge you in as a member.” He slaps the member patch down onto Duke’s cut where prospect was, a smile lights up Kayne’s face. “Do you accept this role as a member of the Savage Saints?”
Duke has tears in his eyes and I’m doing my best to not squeal like a little girl from the excitement. He nods his head, “Yes I would.” Duke clears his throat and looks Kayne directly in the eyes. “It would be an honor to be a member. Thank you.”
Kayne slaps Duke on the back, giving him a bro hug. Whistles and shouts ring out in the room, fists pound on the table, making the solid oak shake. “Welcome to the Savage Saints MC.” Duke pics up his cut and member patch, shrugging the cut back on. “Take that to Cougar and she’ll sew it on for you, brother.”
“Thank you,” Duke’s so grateful, he can’t say anything else. His eyes meet mine and he gives me a wink. I’m smiling so widely, my cheeks hurt and I can’t sit still in my chair.
Kayne walks back over to his seat and bangs the gavel on the table, silencing the room. He sits down in his seat, a pained look cross his face. “We have more business to discuss. Let’s simmer down and get serious. Poison has some information that she extracted from Damon last night. Poison, the floor is yours.”
Nervousness flits through my stomach, making me want to vomit. I lean forward, steepling my palms together, elbows on the table. All eyes are on me, waiting and watching. I inhale a deep breath, “Damon is the V.P. of The Black Destroyers, which you all know. What most of you don’t know is, he’s my ex. My father, Drex, sent Damon into The Black Destroyers to get a man on the inside. He found out about what Kayne, MadDog and I had planned and hired a hit on all of us. That’s why they attacked Deadly Sins Clubhouse. Fortunately, Drex was there and they killed him along with the rest of the club besides Siren and I. Drex promised Damon, if he went through with it and served his time with The Black Destroyers, he could come back and claim me as his. That way their clubs would merge. Thank God that didn’t happen. That man was vile. He took so many lives, I feel disgusted I even knew him.”
“What happened to Damon?” Butch asks, he’s watching me and listening intently. They all are.
“I slit his throat last night after he confessed his sins. They will never stop until each of us are dead. So, we need to come up with a plan to bring them down or we will live in fear for the rest of our lives, looking over our shoulders, wondering when the next attack will happen.” I admit. I should feel bad for taking a life, but his was evil and I did everyone a favor by sending him to hell.
Tex leans his solid body forward, looking between me and Kayne, “What’s the plan, Prez?”
“We need to get ahead of them and bring their leader down. Their V.P. is already out of the picture, so it shouldn’t be too hard to infiltrate their ranks.” Kayne responds.
“How are we going to do that? They’re going to be on high alert now that Damon is missing.” Rooster asks.
Blayde leans forward, “Damon isn’t exactly missing.” He pauses and looks at me before continuing. I’m curious as to what he’s going to say, listening intently. “We left them a message they’ll get loud and clear. My road name is Blayde for a reason.” His blue eyes are sparkling with excitement while he talks. “Let’s just say they’ll have no doubt it was us who took Damon and delivered him to them in pieces.”
My stomach rolls with the thoughts of Blayde chopping up Damon’s body and hand delivering the pieces to them, but I tamp it down. I know we all battle our own demons and mine are no better than Blayde’s or Kayne’s. I enjoyed taking Damon’s life last night, Blayde just finished what I couldn’t at the time.
Something Kayne said turns my blood cold. “How are you planning on taking them down?” I question, my voice trembling with fear. Please don’t tell me what I think he’s going to say. I pray over and over.
“I’m going in.”
“What?” I sit down hard in my chair. “You can’t Kayne. They will kill you before you even hit the door. Why would you do this? Are you fucking crazy? No, absolutely not. I won’t let you.” Tears are streaming down my face, my composure completely shattered because of three little words. I don’t care if I have tears and snot falling down my face. I won’t let him do this. I can’t let him get himself killed because of me. I wipe my face with a tissue someone handed me and glare at Kayne. “You’re not going in. No way.”
“Poison, I understand you’re new to all of this, but you don’t tell the President what he will and won’t do. If I say I’m going in, I’m going in. End of story.” Kayne growls.
“Fuck you, Kayne. I just got you, why in the fuck would I want you to go into a suicide mission?” I’m so angry right now, my body is shaking with rage.
“Because we don’t have another choice.” He shouts back, his chest heaving up and down.
“Yes, we do! These guys need you here, I need you here. Not six feet under. There’s got to be another way.” I cry. I can’t take this anymore. This stubborn asshole won’t budge. I’ve got to get out of here before I have a breakdown.
I stand up from the table and run out the door. I climb the stairs two at a time, then run down the long hallway until I reach Kayne’s door. I slam it open, looking around. There’s a set of keys on his nightstand. I grab them and my bag next to the door. I fly back down the hallway and out the front door. I haven’t seen a single soul during my rant and I send up a thanks to the Biker Gods.
I hit the key fob until I hear a beep and lights flash. Sitting off the side of the house, next to their garage is a black full-size Dodge Ram 1500 with a six-inch lift. I hurry over and throw open the driver side door. If Kayne thinks he’s the only one to sacrifice himself to these fuckers, he’s going to be strongly disappointed. I throw my bag across the center console, slam the door shut and fire up the beast. The engine barks at my command and I throw it in drive, peeling out of the driveway. I floor it, heading into the dark depth of my soul, ready to take everyone down who stands in my way.

Kayne
I stare at the door Poison just ran out of, no words come to mind. I can’t believe she just took off like that. I’m so fucking pissed, I’m going to teach her a lesson later. You don’t just walk out of a meeting until I adjourn it. Murmurs and whispers fill the stunned silence, snapping me out of my own inner dialogue.
Blayde nudges me in the shoulder, “Are you going after her?”
I shake my head, “No, I’m going to let her calm down before I talk to her.”
“What the fuck Prez? Why would you put yourself in danger like that?” Blayde asks.
“I’m not going to be in danger, Blayde. We’re all going in. We’re going to take these fuckers down once and for all.” I slam my palm on the table. “I have a plan where we go in and infiltrate their whole club at the same time.”
“Well, maybe you should have explained that better to Poison. She took off out of here like her ass was on fire.” Tex grumbles from his spot.
“I would have if she didn’t jump the gun,” I growl.
The church door flings open, banging against the wall. Cougar is standing there with fright in her familiar blue eyes. Something I don’t normally see. Her bleach blonde hair is disheveled, sticking up all over the place.
“Kayne, you’ve got to come quick.” Her voice is raspy from smoking to many cigarettes in her lifetime.
“Cougar, you know you’re not supposed to be in here while we have a meeting. Get the fuck out.” I grit through clenched teeth.
“Kayne quit being a stubborn asshole. You have to get out here now.” She barks.
“What is it?” I pinch the bridge of my nose, tired of her, but can’t get rid of my own mother.
“It’s Poison.”
“What about her.”
“I heard her run past my room and a few seconds later run back. I followed her. She was mumbling something about an arrogant asshole jerk, ran out the front door and jumped in the Dodge. She took off, peeling down the driveway.”r />
“What!” I stand up quickly, knocking my chair over.
“She’s gone Kayne. She just left. What the fuck did you do?”
“I didn’t do anything Cougar.” All the blood drains from my face. Fuck, I totally fucked up, big time. “Thanks for letting me know. Shut the door behind you.”
“You’re such an asshole. I don’t know how I raised you to be this way.” She mumbles, leaving the room but not shutting the door.
“You didn’t fucking raise me. The Savage Saints did because you were too busy spreading your legs for any club member to make you an old lady. Now you’re just a washed-up patch whore.” I shout to her retreating back. Cougar doesn’t turn back around, but keeps walking away, flipping me off.
Fuck. I run my hands through my hair and down my face. Where would she go? Why would she leave? Then a thought occurs to me and fear clutches my stomach like knives. “Fuck me hard. She’s going in.”
“No way. She wouldn’t do that.” Siren’s voice quivers from the other side of the room. “She knows what they’re capable of. Why would she?”
“Because she thinks if she goes in, that will stop me. Come on guys, we’ve got to load up and head out. Maybe we can stop her before she reaches their clubhouse.”
“Wait, the Dodge has GPS, right?” Blayde stops me.
“Yes.”
“Then before we take off out of here like our asses are on fire and make the same mistake she did, track her.”
“Rooster, get on it.” I bark out.
“On it,” Rooster answers and leaves the room.
I slam the gavel on the table, dismissing everyone. “Load up and let’s roll out. Bring everything you have. Do we still have the Irish shipment we picked up from them for Drex?”
“In the warehouse,” Tex answers.
“What about the Irish? If we use their equipment, they’re going to come after us.” Maddox says.
