He grinned. “Put them back. In case, I’m away from you and need a fix.”

“Oh, my God! Cooper, you are so bad.”

  “And you love me.”

“That I do, Cooper Lang. That I do.”

Kendra’s laugh flowed over him as he floored the pickup truck to head home and once he got her there, he would never let her go and not because he had to make her stay, but because she loved him.

  Epilogue

Kendra sat in her bedroom at her parents’ home. When the door flew open, she smiled. Emily, Isabella, Chloe, and Shelly entered. Chloe was her maid of honor. All of the gowns were a matching light blue. Their hair had been done up in buns and accented with flower headbands. Angela entered the room with a tray containing flutes of champagne for each woman. All reached out for one except Shelly. Kendra frowned.

“Don’t you want a drink, Shelly?”

“I can’t drink.” She smiled at them all. “I’m pregnant.”

The women squealed and hugged her. “That’s fantastic news. What does Nathan think?”

“I haven’t told him yet. I wasn’t going to tell you and ruin your day by stealing your thunder but I couldn’t drink the champagne, and I didn’t want to hurt your feelings by not drinking.” She laughed. “Lord, I’m rambling.”

“It doesn’t ruin my day. Nothing is going to ruin my day. I’m finally marrying the man I love and want to have children with too. I want to spend the rest of my life with Cooper.”

“I think you’ll be very happy together, honey.” Angela smiled at Kendra.

“Oh, Mom, if I’m only half as happy as you and Daddy, I’ll be fine.” Kendra hugged her mother.

“Let’s get you into your dress, Kennie,” Chloe said.

Angela took the dress out of the bag and held it up. “I can’t tell you how happy I am you’re wearing my gown, honey.”

“We only had to alter the hemline. It’s a beautiful dress, Mom and if it brings me as much luck in my marriage as it did yours, I’m happy to wear it.” Kendra stepped into it. Chloe zipped it up.

When Kendra turned around, the women gasped. “Oh, Kennie, you look so gorgeous.” Isabella said to her.

“You are a beautiful bride, Kennie,” Emily told her.

Kendra walked over toward the closet and slipped her feet into her white stilettos. She grinned as she stood in front of the mirror. The white gown hugged her curves. The sleeves were long and sheer. A scooping neckline emphasized her breasts. The torso was tight with a cinched waistline. The floor-length gown flowed out from her hips with a train trailing four feet behind her. Her mother stepped behind her and attached the veil to her hair. Then she kissed Kendra’s cheek.

“Your dad and I are so happy for you,” Angela said softly and maybe a little hoarsely as if she was holding back tears. Kendra smiled at her.

A knock on the door had them all turning toward it. Chloe opened it. Hudson Mattingly stood on the threshold, looking very handsome in his tuxedo, and smiling as he gazed at his daughter. He stepped into the room with pride.

“Kendra, you look as beautiful as your mother did on our wedding day.” He walked toward her and smiled at his wife as he reached out to squeeze Angela’s hand lovingly.

“Thank you, Daddy. I’m ready to get married.”

“I believe you are.” He kissed her cheek and crooked his arm out to her. “Let’s go.”

The women followed them out the door and to the car. After piling into the car, which took some time and organization, they headed for the church.

Cooper paced. He spun around when he heard male laughter. “What’s so funny?”

“You. Mister I’m never settling down,” Mont said.

“Mister I don’t want to spend my life with one woman,” Lucas added.

Cooper narrowed his eyes. “You want to chime in too, Nathan? Storm? Linc? Dakota?”

  Nathan laughed. “Nope.”

  “Not me,” Storm said.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Lincoln chuckled.

“I just can’t believe you’re getting married. Damn,” Dakota said, shaking his head.

“You both said the same thing before you met your wives.” Cooper narrowed his eyes at Lucas and Mont.

“Hell, I admit it but once Emily asked me to marry her, I had to say yes. I realized I wanted a family and to be a good father. Better than mine was,” Lucas told him.

“Same here. I wanted Isabella the minute I saw her picture but after I met her, I knew she was the one,” Mont said.

Lucas stood and walked toward Cooper. “I remember you telling me I didn’t need to get married. You were right. I didn’t need to. I wanted to.”

Cooper sighed. “I know. I was wrong to think the right woman wouldn’t change my mind or heart. I can’t imagine not having Kendra in my life. When that bastard had her kidnapped, I wanted to hunt him down and kill him with my bare hands.”

  “Yeah, been there,” Lucas muttered.

“Hell, I had to watch Barkley choke Isabella and not do anything.” Mont swore.

Nathan stood. “It just takes the right woman.” He turned his gaze to Storm.

Storm shook his head. “Not going to sell me on that one. I thought I had the right woman.”

“Well, apparently she wasn’t the right one, Storm,” Cooper told him.

“Doesn’t matter. I’m not looking. I’m glad you all have good women in your lives but I have Mandy, and that’s enough for me.” Storm stared at them.

Cooper shrugged as the other men looked at him. “I’ll be happy when this day is over though. I can’t believe I’m so nervous.”

The door opened and the reverend stuck his head in. He smiled at Cooper. “Your bride is here. Let’s get you married, son.”

Cooper grinned. “I’m ready.” He headed toward the door.

“Three down, three to go,” the reverend said with a big grin.

“Two to go. Don’t include me in that list,” Storm told him as he walked past him and followed Cooper.

Cooper looked over his shoulder and smiled. “Let it go, Rev. We’ll just have to wait and see, won’t we?”

The men entered the church and stood at the altar. When the music began, Emily entered and walked down the aisle.

“That’s my woman,” Cooper heard Lucas boast.

Isabella followed and Cooper almost busted out laughing when he heard Mont hiss in a breath. Shelly followed next.

“Shelly looks amazing,” Nathan whispered in awe.

Chloe was next and Cooper realized what a beautiful woman she was. He was tempted to turn and look at Storm, but then Kendra was standing in the doorway. His breath whooshed out as she started down the aisle with her dad. Hudson had a proud grin on his face.

Cooper smiled when her eyes met his. She smiled back at him and he could see the tears in her eyes. She’d loved him for so long and he’d been a fool. He planned to make it up to her for as long as he lived. She deserved only the best life had to offer and he’d make damned sure she got it. She’d never do without.

Hudson halted at the altar and kissed Kendra’s cheek before handing her off to Cooper.

“I trust you to keep my daughter as happy every day as she is today,” Hudson told him.

Cooper grinned. “On my honor, sir.”

Hudson smiled at him, and then took a seat beside Angela in the front pew. Cooper held Kendra’s hand as she moved to stand beside him. “You look absolutely breathtaking,” he whispered.

“You look quite handsome yourself, Lang,” she whispered back.

He squeezed her hand. “Let’s do this and start the honeymoon.” He winked at her making her blush.

The reverend cleared his throat. “Not the time, Cooper.”

Cooper chuckled. “Always the time to make my future wife blush, Rev.”

“You’ll pay for that,” Kendra said in a low tone.

Cooper laughed. “Looking forward to it, darlin’.” He looked at the
reverend. “Ready when you are.”

The ceremony began. Cooper repeated his vows in a calm steady voice. Kendra’s voice was softer, but she said them with conviction. When everything was said and done, they walked back along the aisle as husband and wife. They both had huge smiles on their faces. Their new lives were just beginning and Cooper planned to do everything in his power to keep her happy. If she was happy, he was happy. Their love knew no boundaries as they started on this journey together. Cooper was sure he’d never been this happy in his entire life. He glanced over to his wife to see her looking at him. He stopped her at the doors leading out of the church and kissed her.

“I love you,” he whispered against her lips.

  “I know,” she whispered back.

He growled. “Is this how it’s going to be every time I tell you? You won’t say it back?”

She chuckled, making his dick twitch. “Yes. That way, I’ll hear it more.”

“Darlin’, I’ll say it so much, you’ll get tired of hearing it.”

  “Never, Cooper Lang.”

  “Say it, Kendra Lang.”

“I love you, Cooper.” She grinned against his lips.

“Damn straight you do, darlin’,” he said before taking her lips in a deep kiss. The congregation cheered making them both laugh. Cooper pulled back and stared down into her eyes. “Most obstinate woman I know.”

Kendra laughed, and then squealed when he picked her up, and carried her out into the sunshine.
