Bump (A Witchlight Novel)
Page 32
We finished the drink between us and left the delicate cup on the coffee table. I wondered if Asbelia had known it was also something of an aphrodisiac. It was the last thought I had of the woman of the veiled world as the evening took a delicious turn before it drew to a close.
I didn’t dream that night when I finally fell asleep wrapped in Sofia’s arms. I didn’t think of Emma Gold or Grace St John or Daudie Schalko or Erica Hanley or Livia Darrow. I didn’t even think of Grace St John’s doppelganger waiting for me in Whisper Falls.
Maybe I should have, given Ena’s parting words, but mind and body wrapped in Asbelia’s golden elixir, I didn’t think at all. I just knew that I was in the arms of my lover, safe, and warm. It wasn’t happily ever after, but come what may, it was most certainly blissful right now.
