Mike grinned. “Well, tell Jack he’s a lucky man.”
“Wanna come along and join us for some fun? I saw how you were looking at me in the club.” She flirted, forgetting her composure in the excitement of the win in court.
Mike had been dreaming about Melanie since the night of the club. He fumbled his words and joked “How… How’s midnight sound?”
Looking hard at each other they both realised it was serious. Melanie nodded with a smile.
Melanie headed out of the station and to her car. There were many more cases to be solved. More unfortunate victims who needed a voice to speak for them. She felt now more than ever it was her duty to be that voice. At one point she almost joined them, and now that she had a second chance, she was going to use it to advocate for those who lost their lives.
