“These are not signed,” the officer said and looked at Shadow who nodded.

“They are not yet; we just found the child. Mr. Tyson was actually searching this area of town for him while I was getting the correct papers to file with your government. As soon as we are done here, we will gather the boy's things, and we will be heading to the Consulate,” Shadow said with a big smile. He lifted his arms out wide and continued, “Don’t you love it when a family is reunited, it is such a happy time, don’t you think?”

Both of the officers looked at each other and then nodded. “Of course, please continue. Although I would stress to you getting out of this area as soon as possible, there is much crime, and we can't promise your safety.”

Shadow nodded, and he held out his arm to Loki. “Come, Mr. Tyson; I believe the officers are correct and very trustworthy. Let’s gather his belongings and continue on to the Consulate.”

Loki nodded and pulled the small boy behind him, and they walked across the street silently until they were in front of a rundown building. The little boy tugged on his hand, and Loki followed him through a door. When he looked back to shut it after Shadow had entered in with him, he saw the two officers staring at him intently. He smiled and waved and then turned around and glared at Shadow.

  “What the fuck was that?”

Wesson smiled big and said, “Perfect cover, man, can you dig it. Man, it could not have gone better. I was just sitting there, you know, smoking, and it was like Budda came down and touched my head. I knew I had to get to you fast. I was down the street when they clocked you. I just printed out this shit, and booyah, we had a fucking awesome cover story.”

“Are you fucking nuts, and how the hell were you following me?” Loki yelled.

The little boy smiled up at him and said, “Bà ba?”

Loki glared at Shadow and then looked down at the kid. “Sorry, little man, not bà ba, my name is Loki, what he said, was a cover, you know, to get us out of trouble?”

The little boy tilted his head. “No!” he said firmly. “Bà ba.”

Loki looked at Wesson helplessly and snapped. “You fix this.”

“Sure, man, I got you, don’t worry,” the stoner said, and Loki leaned closer.

“I will kill you in your sleep if you don’t.”

“Buddy?” they heard a female voice whisper and all of them turned in the direction it came from. “Come on, Buddy, I know you came in.”

Shadow stepped forward and whispered back, “Jaci?”

The door creaked open, and she appeared. Loki sucked in a breath, damn she was hotter in person. The boy let go of Loki’s hand and went to the woman and looked up at her. “Mā mā.”

Jaci looked down at the kid shocked and then looked back up panicky and whispered, “What the fuck did you tell him?”

  Chapter Six

They four of them made it back to a real safehouse in relative silence. It had only taken them an hour to figure out how to evade the two police officers who were still standing in front of the building, waiting. They ended up having Jaci climb across the roofs of several buildings until she dropped where Wesson had parked the rental car. Once they were inside the car, Loki had growled every time Shadow opened his mouth, hence the silence.

Yeah, Loki glared at the stoner, a fucking rental car. He was going to deal with that soon; the idiot put them on the map by doing that. Plus, he had been driving while fucking stoned. Seriously, he had no clue how the man was still alive. What pissed Loki off even more, was that Jaci had seemed to take a shine to the stranger. What the hell was up with that?

After meeting Jaci, he was really kicking his own ass because if he had made the time, he would have already fucked her and gotten her out of his system. She was totally not his type, but damn, she had a serious fucking rack on her. Loki found himself staring at her thinking of all the things he wanted to do to her. Shit, now was so not the fucking time to get horny but damn, there was something about her. Plus, she kept looking at him when she didn’t think he was paying attention, but he could feel her gaze when she zeroed in. Fuck yeah, if he would have met her in a club, her legs would have been over his shoulders quicker than you could say, ‘batters up.'

Her tight ass in those jeans, plus the razorback shirt she was wearing now due to the heat, he almost groaned when he thought of peeling them off her luscious body. Loki closed his eyes willing his cock to go down, but it wasn’t working. Then his eyes landed on the kid, and yeah, that worked like a fucking charm.

Plus, the kid insisted on calling Loki dad, and Jaci mom, which freaked them both out. They hadn’t been able to convince the boy to stop either. Then when Jaci asked Shadow to get the kid some clothes, it had gone downhill from there. Now, the kid looked like a unicorn threw up on him due to the bright colors Shadow brought back. But the kid loved them, so he decided to pick his battles wisely, which was what he was doing right now.

“Now,” Loki said to Shadow who was sitting in the corner with his laptop and small little printer that Loki was ready to throw out the window. “Explain how in the fuck you knew where I was, and what was being said?”

Jaci looked at Loki wide-eyed for a second and then hissed, “Don’t swear in front of Buddy.”

  “Seriously?” Loki said.

“Of course,” Jaci said and shook her head. “Until we find someone to take care of Buddy, he is ours. So no cussing.”

Loki looked at the ceiling and then sighed loudly. “Buddy, why don’t you go to the bedroom, watch some TV.”’

The little boy looked around the room and then shrugged and took the plate of food Jaci had made for him and walked down the hallway. When Loki heard the door shut quietly, he whirled back to Shadow and snapped.

  “Now answer.”

The man grinned, yes he grinned at Loki and said, “Dude, you know what I do.”

It was a statement, not a fucking explanation, so Loki growled and said, “You are a hacker, not a magician.”

“Come on,” Shadow drawled. “What kind of tech guy would I be if I didn’t know how to bug you.”

“Bug?” Loki snarled. “You fucking bugged me? When?”

Jaci sighed. “Can we stop with this shit and deal with the facts. We need to find Carole.”

Loki looked at her and said, “Your brother is getting the lay of the land.”

Jaci stood up staring at him in shock. “What?”

Shadow grinned. “Yeah, Chiquita! Your bro totally came to rescue you. But the big man over there, he figured that your brother could go after his mom, and he would go after you ‘cause, you know, you’re a female and overemotional. He was trying to minimize the crying.”

Loki froze and wanted to kill the idiot, especially when he heard Jaci suck in a deep breath in surprise and then literally she began counting out loud. Fuck, his mom did that when she was pissed, like really pissed. Loki knew when he was in real trouble when he was young when his mother began counting; he also knew that when she counted to more than ten, he was in serious trouble, fuck, he thought, Jaci was at twenty.

“Listen,” Loki said smiling, trying to soften what the idiot said. “He misunderstood what I was saying.”

Shadow frowned and shook his head. “No, I didn’t, I can quote you word for word if needed.”

Loki glared at him and then looked back at Jaci who stared at him with a raised eyebrow. “Seriously, I didn’t mean it like that.”

“So how did you mean it?” Jaci snapped, and Loki sucked in a breath getting ready to explain when Wesson yelled.

“Hell’s to the yeah! I got him.”

“Who?” Loki asked, and Shadow looked at him.

“What? Oh, sorry, I got Wrecker on com. The prison has pretty thick walls, as well as some good security. I didn’t know if the bug would actually work with him, but fuck yeah, it did.”

Loki moved to the computer and Jaci did as well, their conversation was forgotten for the time being, at least. “Put it on the speaker,” Loki ordered, and they wat
ched as Shadow hit a few buttons.

“Mrs. Kincaid, I am your representative from the Embassy, Anthony Rizzo,” Wrecker said smoothly.

“Really?” Carole said slowly, and then they heard a chair moving as someone sat down. “So you are the attorney that is going to get me out of this mess?”

“Yes, I am,” Wrecker said, and they heard a second chair move. “I have a few questions for you.”

“I am sure you do, but before I answer them, tell me, what color is the sunset on Mars?” Carole asked.

  “Huh?” Wrecker said confused.

“The sunset on Mars, what color is it?” Carole asked.

They heard Wrecker clearing his throat, and then he said, “Ma’am, the sunset on Mars is of course purple.”

Loki let a breath out he was not aware he was holding, thank God he remembered to tell Wrecker about his mother's code words. Of course, he hadn’t known what question she was going to ask, but he did know if she asked for a color it was always purple, her favorite, and if she asked for a date, it was always the 15th, his birthday. Plus, she would know he sent Wrecker to her.

“Of course it is,” Carole chuckled. “Now, what exactly do you need to know?”

The three listened as Wrecker asked for the details of her arrest, and then asked some pointed questions that had double meanings, which was smart, Loki would give the man that. As the time ran down, Shadow was writing down something, and when he looked at Loki, he grinned.

“Your mom is the bomb, man.”

“Huh?” Loki asked, and Jaci leaned forward and looked at the sheet he had been writing on.

“Holy shit, how did you decipher the code?”

Wesson leaned back and said, “It is the ganja; it gives you the freedom for your mind to see everything. Seriously, you should look into it. Smoking pot is like an eye opening experience, so many things become clear. It is like you have a third eye, you know.”

Jaci stared at him for a minute and then she smiled hugely and nodded. “You are just too nice.”

  Wesson smiled. “Thank you, sweetcheeks.”

What the fuck was happening? Seriously, what the fuck was happening, it was like he was in an alternate universe. Wesson was fucking crazy, like seriously, Loki was going to have him committed when they got home, the fucker was going to get them killed with the shit he was coming up with. But now he was flirting with Jaci, what the fuck? It wasn’t like he was in a relationship with her, but still, this was completely whacked.

“What the fuck are you talking about?” Loki yelled, and both of them jumped. Jaci stood straighter and frowned.

“Your mom, she was telling Tony her schedule, as well as where her cell was located. With those coordinates, we will be able to extract her easier.”

Loki growled and looked at Wesson. “Seriously?”

Shadow nodded and held up the paper. “All you had to do was listen.”

“Okay,” Jaci said happily, trying to draw Kaden’s attention from poor Wesson, jeez, he had a temper, Carole never told her that, it was always how smart her son was. Well, maybe he should smoke some dope, it may help his disposition. “Anthony and you guys must be hungry, I know I am, and I am sure Buddy is. So how about I see what we can make, get dinner going and then when Tony gets back, we can all sit down and talk about how this is going to go. We only have about forty-eight hours before her trial.”

Loki nodded and then said, “Yeah, let’s get organized.”

“I will get the little dude, and maybe he can tell us how to get around this city without drawing attention,” Wesson said and stood. “And, sweetcheeks, you need any help in the kitchen, just yell my name.”

Loki rolled his eyes when Jaci nodded and smiled. Seriously, what the fuck? As he stood there waiting for Wesson to leave the room completely, he mimicked the man behind his back. “Yell my name,” he said softly and sarcastically.

Jaci stopped and then turned back to him and shook her head. “You know, jealousy is not becoming.”

He opened and closed his mouth, seriously, where had his mojo gone. Loki was usually the one who was funny and cute, all the girls loved him. Look at Georgie, Anya, heck look at Casey, this was so fucked up.

“Oh come on,” Loki muttered, and Jaci turned and walked toward the kitchen, he didn’t see her smile as she went though.

“Tony!” Jaci yelled when her brother walked through the door to the safehouse. It had been too long since she had seen him.

“Sis,” Tony said sounding relieved. He dumped the bags he was carrying and pulled her into a hug.

Jaci whispered in his ear, “I am fine.”

Her brother nodded, and she smiled when he whispered back. “You better be.”

“Yo! It is the man!” Shadow bellowed loudly, pointing at Wrecker as he walked in from the backyard. He had been out smoking a little bit before dinner because today had been particularly stressful, he said, his PTSD was kicking into high gear. Jaci understood that her brother had that as well; since being in the military, he had changed so much. Maybe she would suggest that he be evaluated. “That was so sick, getting out the codes so smoothly.”

Wrecker pulled back and looked at Loki who was rolling his eyes. “Codes? What codes?”

Shadow laughed. “Man, come on, the coordinates, that was like fucking genius.”

‘Uh, I have no clue what you are talking about. I was playing for the guard who was listening in. I needed him to trust me to come back tomorrow,” Tony said, and the room went silent.

  “What?” Loki said slowly.

“What the hell are you talking about? And wait, how the fuck did you know what I said?” Wrecker snapped, and then Loki smiled. Fucking A, he wasn’t the only dork in the room. Suddenly things looked a little brighter.

“We have a lot to talk about,” Jaci said softly, and Tony looked at his sister and then to Loki, he nodded briskly, and then he froze when he heard.

“Mā mā, and bà ba, where are you?” a young boy said and then he ran into the room wearing a hideous color combination Tony ever seen. Shit, Mom? Dad? Who the hell was the kid calling that? When he went to stand between his sister and Loki, and then he took both of their hands and smiled up at them, Tony growled.

“Yeah, we apparently have a fuck of a lot to talk about.”

Loki smiled and said, “Don’t cuss in front of our kid.”

Jaci lunged to grab her brother as he took a step forward toward Loki, this was so not going to be a fun explanation. If looks could kill, then Loki would be dead, she thought and turned to look at the shit eating grin on his face. There he was, the one she had creamed her panties on more than one occasion thinking about him. This was the man from the picture, this was the man she had dreamed of. Shit, it was the worst timing in history, she thought and then she shook her head.

  Chapter Seven

Loki watched as Jaci moved around the table putting dinner on the hot pads, and making sure Buddy had a full plate full of veggies and meat before she sat down. Tony watched his sister just as intently while Wesson seemed to be higher than a kite, which meant he smiled at everyone and everything. He wanted to scream in frustration, this mission was probably the worst he had ever been on. His mother was in a third world jail waiting for a trial, which they all knew was going to call for her execution. He was in a house with a stoner, a Marine, a kid, and a fucking sexy as hell female. What the fuck else could happen?

As he thought the words, Loki looked at the table, grabbed the salt and put some in his hand and threw it over his shoulder. He shouldn’t tempt fate this much, next thing he knew, seriously, the genie from Aladdin was going to appear.

Jaci stared at him with a questioning look, and then Loki saw everyone was staring at him. Buddy picked up the salt and did the same thing and then smiled at him obviously wanting praise.

“Okay then,” Jaci said and picked up the salt and did the same thing. “It never hurts.”

“Someone tell me what the hell is going on,.” Tony snarled, and Loki
opened his mouth to make a smart ass comment. He shook his head and held up a hand. “No, don’t say it. Tell me why this kid is calling you mom and dad?”

Wesson leaned forward and whispered, “Dude, that is harsh as hell. He is sitting right there; the little dude has been through enough, man. I don’t think talking about him right in front of him is the way to go.”

Tony growled at the man who was now being referred to in his head as the bane of his existence. “Will someone please tell me what is going on?”

Buddy looked around the table, and then he whispered, “You safe.”

Tony looked at the kid and said, “Yes, I am safe.”

Buddy nodded and smiled. “Me too, we safe together.”

Shit, he couldn't do it, he was pissed and wanted to be a dick, but he couldn’t, the kid was too fucking cute. What was up with that? Tony looked at his sister and said, “Aww, come on.”

Jaci smiled and then reached over and put a little more green beans on the child's plate and ran a hand over his head and whispered, “Eat up.”

Buddy nodded, and then Shadow said, “Okay, to clear things up. I put a bug on you and Loki so I could hear what you were saying, and also locate you if something went wrong. Well, it kinda did for Jaci and Loki.” He went on to explain everything as only he could, which meant by the end, Tony looked like he was going to kill the man.

“You told the local police, that Loki was Buddy’s father and we were taking him home?” Tony said softly.

Wesson nodded happily and held up his fist to the young boy and said, “Right, little dude?”

Buddy looked up and then grinned and shook his head, giving Shadow a fist bump and then he looked at both Loki and Jaci. “We are safe?”

Both of them nodded, and Wrecker sighed loudly. They were so screwed. Loki and Jaci finished explaining the situation, and how Carole had given them clues to exactly where in the jail she was located.
