This sequel to the hot new adult erotic romance novella Once Should Be Enough can be read as a standalone--but you might want to sit down (I suggest you find a towel). I’ll be honest, though—you may enjoy it more if you get to know Will and Cassie first.

But don’t let me stop you from reading on! If you like your romance hot and fun, then Don't Think Twice!

  Chapter One

  Will

  “Cass?”

With her chin resting on my ribcage she hummed, her caramel-colored eyes threatening to shut. Her long, dark hair framed her face like it was a picture. My cock stirred again at the knowledge that I’d put that look on her face.

  “Can I take you out?”

“Out of what?” she asked sleepily.

I bit back a laugh and hauled her up my body. Her knees hugged either side of my hips, her damp skin stuck to my chest. I loved her dampness from other places touching me, too. I tucked her head under my chin, where I could feel her hot breath against my neck. She wasn’t exactly light as a feather, but she fit against me perfectly, and it wasn’t any worse than being used as a bouncy castle by my older sister’s kids.

“On a date.” Just in case she wasn’t kidding, I clarified it for her.

Her jaw stretched as she yawned. “Okay.” She sighed. “Once should be enough.”

She was kidding, right? “Fuck that!” Once wasn’t nearly enough for anything with her—not one laugh, not one dinner, not one public holiday.

  “I’m just kidding.”

  Thank fucking god.

She lifted her head just long enough to smirk at me, then her eyes closed and she snuggled back into me. “But you should know that I don’t put out on the first date.”

Now she was definitely kidding. A snort escaped me. “We’ll see. I’m pretty irresistible.” I wasn’t bragging, just being realistic.

She let out the cutest little snuffling sound. “I’ll try my best not to mount you in the quad,” she said.

My eyes rolled reflexively. “Too late for that.”

Cass was silent, but as far as I could tell, she was still awake. Honestly, I was surprised that I was, too. My brain was fried, my balls were empty, and my hormones were clamoring for sleep.

I considered it carefully. “I give it two dates, tops, before we’re naked again. Less, if I can convince you to go on a hot tub date.”

  “Cocky asshole.”

She had no idea. The sound of the word “cock” coming from her lush lips made my heart beat a little faster and my dick twitch beneath the groove of her ass.

“Do you really want me to respond to that?” I asked, arching against her. My hands rested on her hips as she lay over me like a warm blanket.

She giggled softly into my neck, just under my ear. “I’m not that easy,” she reminded me.

No shit. I kissed her silky, tangled head. “Cassie, you are anything but easy.”

She laced her fingers through mine, stretched out at our sides. I could tell the moment she was fully asleep because her grasp loosened and the tips of her fingers curled against my palm. I was close to falling asleep myself, but shifted her off me just enough so we both wouldn’t feel like creepers with boundary issues when we woke up.

What next? I would have to give this some serious thought. In college, it seemed the line between friends and friends with benefits was about as fine as the second one on a pregnancy test.

Did I want Cassie naked again? Hell, yes. But I kinda also thought she was pretty awesome with her clothes on as well. And now that I’d gotten myself out of the friend zone, I didn’t want to fuck it up.

When she came over, she’d probably expected me to just fuck her. Now, with our bodies still buzzing and the smell of her all over my skin, was probably not the best time to tell her that I’d made love to her instead. With my luck, she would just ghost me again.

We’d gone about this all backwards. Basically I needed to get her out of my bed—but not just yet.

  * * *

I woke up before she did. As usual, my dick woke up before both of us, but I reminded him that we all needed a shower and some food. My phone told me it was just after six o’clock, so we’d only slept for a couple of hours. My throat was sore, my mouth was dry, and I felt like I had a hangover. That was what a good orgasm did to a guy, I supposed.

My body reminded me of other pressing issues, like relieving itself. After I pissed and took a look at my hair sticking up in the mirror like a troll doll, I returned to bed but left the bathroom light on. The glow spilled across the tiny hallway. It lit up a little runway over the bed, from Cassie’s exposed foot to where the sheet curved around her waist.

I followed the flight path like a 737 coming in for a landing. Since the course of true love never did run smooth, my attempt to nibble on her toes landed me a swift kick to my nose.

“Motherfucker!” I yelled, clapping my hand to my face. Was I bleeding?

  “What! Will? What is it?”

She bolted awake and I reeled back, wanting to avoid any more reflex ninja moves. I had parts far more valuable to me than my nose. Removing my hand, I checked my knuckles for blood. Jesus Christ, that smarted.

“You kicked me,” I said, fairly satisfied that my septum was still intact. I wrinkled my nose experimentally, my eyes still watering.

Cass rolled away from me, the light shifting over her. “You woke me, Will.” With her hand under the pillow, she burrowed her head into it. “What time is it?”

  “Around six.”

The sound of her stomach gurgling was loud enough to wake the neighbors. She burrowed her face into the pillow, her ears pink as they peeked through the curtain of her hair.

  “Hungry, Cass?”

  Her “fuck you” was muffled.

I patted her leg. “After dinner.”

After I tugged my scrubs on, I headed to the kitchen to find something to eat. Given that I was a twenty-one year-old guy, there wasn’t a fuck of a lot.

Scrambled eggs and toast was looking like the easiest option, unless I wanted to impress Cass with my culinary ability to pour a bowl of Lucky Charms. Everyone loved breakfast for dinner, right?

I whisked the eggs with a fork in a bowl then poured them into a hot pan where some butter had already melted. It wasn’t until I reached for a spatula to stir them that I noticed the light in the living room.

  “Cass?” I shouted. “You awake?”

As I turned my attention back to the pan, I heard a faint growl and a thump. When I looked up, she’d appeared in the hallway wearing the t-shirt I’d worn earlier.

“Yeah?” She padded into the kitchen, the hem of my shirt swinging around her thighs like a dare.

“Huh?” Was she even wearing anything underneath?

Her nose wrinkled. “I think something is burning.”

Fuck! I dragged the pan off the burner. The eggs were a little more golden than I’d expected, but then again, so was the light coming into the living room. As I pulled a couple of plates out of the cupboard, I checked my phone again with one hand. Six twenty-six. Definitely time for supper.

“Toast and eggs.” I put the plates on the tiny breakfast bar, my mouth
a little dry as she mounted the barstool.

  “You forgot the toast.”

So I had. Oh well, the eggs were the most important part anyhow. Honestly, with the way her thighs spread as she got on the stool, I was lucky to remember my name. “Right.” I pulled a loaf of bread out of the fridge and threw a couple of slices in the toaster.

She hopped down to reach around me for a couple of forks from the drawer to my left. This time I had confidence that the toast wouldn’t burn while I watched her flash her pussy at me when she climbed up on the stool again.

“Thanks for breakfast.” She smiled shyly.

I blinked. Then it dawned on me. Actual fucking dawn. It was six-thirty on Monday morning. No wonder I felt like a zombie with an epic hard-on.

“Holy shit, it’s morning.” We’d slept straight through.

“Yep.” She looked strangely satisfied, despite the blush staining her cheeks. “We have lab today,” she reminded me.

The toast popped. It was tinged with brown like a lightly roasted marshmallow, absolutely perfect—until I tried to butter it. The butter was hard, and I somehow left shavings of butter on torn pieces of hot bread. Ah, fuck it. I was going to be a doctor, not a chef.

But damned if I didn’t still want to punch myself in the head. It’s not that I’d wanted to impress Cass. She was already my friend; she knew my limitations. It was just that I didn’t want to, uh—okay, yeah, I wanted to impress her.

Her gaze was focused on my bare chest, though, not on the mangled toast. She eyed me hungrily when I dropped a piece of toast on her empty plate. Was she impressed by me or the toast?

“Is this awkward?” I asked her after the third time she dropped her gaze to her plate.

  “What?”

“This. Us.” I used my fork to scoop the eggs onto my toast and folded it up, all the while not looking at her.

  “Eating breakfast?”

I finally met her gaze, taking a bite out of the makeshift sandwich. “Half naked,” I clarified.

She sniffed, her cheeks rosy and her eyes bright and mischievous. Then with a burst of bravado, she stripped off the shirt, no longer only “half” naked.

  “Now it’s not.”

I dropped my breakfast and lunged for her. Thank god we didn’t have an eight o’clock class.

  Chapter Two

  Cassie

I made it back to my dorm room with an hour to kill before needing to head to class. I changed into a clean pair of jeans and a fuzzy flannel shirt then checked my email and antisocial media. Methodically I packed my messenger bag with stuff I needed to take to class, although when I finished, I had no memory of placing anything inside.

“Get your poop in a group, Cassandra,” I scolded myself. With a shaky sigh, I fell on my narrow institutional bed and reveled in the smell of Will’s shower gel lingering in my nose.

Things between us didn’t get crazy again until I put his t-shirt back on. My shyness had ultimately gotten the better of me, and I pulled the borrowed shirt back on when it appeared that neither of us was going to eat otherwise—me from self-consciousness, and him from choking on his own drool. I was willing to try a lot of things—clearly—but I wasn’t ready for eating naked on a stool yet.

He’d tackled me in the hall between his kitchen and bedroom after we put our dishes in the sink, his large hands roaming underneath the hem of my shirt.

“Christ, Cass, you’re killing me.” His voice was hot and low in my ear, and it was like he had a direct line to the nerves of my pussy. “And you’re so wet,” he marveled, his roving fingers discovering the effect he had on me.

It was a good thing the wall was there to hold me up. With one arm around my waist and his other hand toying with my entrance, he rendered me limp as I gulped back whimpers of arousal. I kissed him hard, sucking his lower lip between my teeth because it was the only part of him I could take inside me at that moment. My palms ran over the muscles of his shoulders and the top of his chest, my fingertips skimming the cords of his neck.

He was so close—too close, yet not close enough. I clutched him around his upper arms and spun us around so he was against the wall.

“Want you,” he grunted. “Again.” His urgency was almost primal, his fingers flying against me. Dizziness overwhelmed me as my need for him dripped down my inner thighs.

“God, yes—I mean, okay.” I inhaled sharply as his thumb grazed over my clit without mercy. I squeezed my eyes shut and let the swift orgasm hobble me. It pulsed at my core, making me weak in the knees and grateful for his other hand firmly under my butt.

Will grinned at me. “You’re so fucking gorgeous when you come for me. I want to see every way I can make it happen.”

Well, that was one way. His words threatened to send me over the edge again.

His eyes gleamed in the dim hallway, then he covered my mouth with his and rolled us down the wall toward the bathroom. Our lower legs tangled together like a twist tie, our hands doing everything but steering or supporting our entwined bodies. As we hit the trim at the doorway to the bathroom, he reached out and flicked on the light.

I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror over the sink as Will tugged me inside by the frayed collar of the oversized t-shirt I was wearing. My eyes were wide and sparkling, my cheeks flushed and my dark hair falling out of a loose ponytail I’d fashioned into a bun on top of my head. There was a suspicious bruise on my neck, and my lips were swollen and rosy.

Will’s rear view demanded admiration as he leaned over to start the shower. The muscles in his back flexed as he reached to test the water, and my gaze followed that shallow canyon down his spine into the dimples above the waistband of his scrub pants. I went exploring, making him twist and groan. He caught my wayward fingers and sucked them into his mouth.

The smooth bastard was always one-upping me.

I yanked off my shirt before untying the drawstring around his waist. The dusky, shiny head of his cock greeted me as the scrubs sagged around his hips. Unable to resist, I swiped the pad of my thumb over it, collecting the dewiness forming there.

  “Fuck, Cass!” he hissed.

My pride swelled as he impatiently pulled me into the tub and kissed me under the shower spray. I closed my eyes against the water as he added another love bite to my neck, then he sucked my nipples until I thought I could take no more.

Despite all that build-up, shower sex wasn’t all that books and movies made it out to be. For one thing, water made things slippery. For another, the average bathtub slash shower combo seemed to require a PhD in Physics to make sexy times work.

First, Will created a small flood when he dashed out to grab a condom—which proved to be awkward to put on under a steady stream of water, despite the impressive power of his erection. Then, as strong as he was, I didn’t have complete faith in Will’s ability to hold me up against a slick tile wall. And the narrow ledge around the tub wasn’t meant for my toes to balance on. I tried to bend over, but then Will had to squat in order to… well, it just didn’t work.

After some acrobatic disappointments, eventually we gave up and just used our hands and mouths.

My self-consciousness was no match for Will’s attention, and it was a heady feeling knowing that my proximity and touch could send him off within minutes. So I was a little sore but still hadn’t ticked “shower sex” off my list. Not that I had an actual list of my own, more like I’d spent too much time doing idiotic surveys online. According to one of them, my spirit animal in bed was a unicorn.

  * * *

I was so distracted by my memories of the weekend that I was late for class. The cold outside made me jog faster, and by the time I rocked up in front of the door my breath was clouding in front of me and my cheeks were tingling.

Will had started the lab assignment without me. His mouth was turned down in a sour expression, which melted the second I dropped my bag beside our bench.

He raised a playful eyebrow. “If I’d known you planned to be late today, I wo
uld have given you a reason,” he murmured.

No man should look sexy wearing goggles and holding forceps. It just wasn’t fair.

“Thank for you joining us.” Dylan, the grad student teaching assistant, snuck up behind us while I was stripping off my coat. “Finally,” he added.

“Sorry, Dylan.” I offered an apologetic smile.

“Uh, that’s okay, Cassie.” He blinked at me behind his wire-rimmed glasses. “I need you to stay a minute after class, though, okay?”

I nodded as I got myself ready and looked at the bench. Will pressed up against my side, our elbows touching.

“What are we doing here?” I asked him.

  “Reproduction.”

“Ha ha.” My heart stopped for just one brief second.

  “In spores.”

  “Oh.”

Will looked over my shoulder and let out a gruff sigh. “Fucking Dylan.”

I froze. “Is he watching us?”

“He’s watching you.” He leaned in, dropping a totally inappropriate kiss on the top of my ear.

“Will!” I hip checked him, but he just laughed. My friend had a territorial streak, it seemed.

As usual, I took notes as he did much of the lab. He was more invested in the science, and my writing was neater. We weren’t allowed to have laptops on the bench, and it was damn near impossible to tap out notes on my phone while wearing gloves.

He peered over at what I was writing. “You know, my handwriting isn’t that much worse than yours.”

I grimaced at my loopy words. My scribbles looked like a blind monkey had attacked it. “What can I say? I grew up on a keyboard.”

“That must have been very uncomfortable. Did you sleep on the space bar, because it was the longest? Did you drink Tab instead of Coke?”

“You’re an idiot.” But I couldn’t help smiling as I shook my head.

I stumbled through the lab, more so than usual. Maybe it was the fact that I’d missed a few and had gotten out of the groove. Or maybe it was the fact that Will kept crowding me against the bench in ways that made me blush and look around to see if anyone was noticing our foreplay in the guise of scientific experimentation.
