He couldn't help himself and opened it to the photograph again. There he was. Matty. He'd been so young when he'd gone missing that one of the only things Jamie remembered about him was his obsession for sand castles. What was he like now? Would he even remember the family he'd been taken from so many years ago?

"Jamie." Alison appeared behind him, resting her hand on his back. "You've found him! Congratulations!"

Jamie turned to face her, his heart warming to the radiant smile on her face. "Don't congratulate me yet. What if he doesn't know who I am? I'd just be some stranger trying to take him from everything he knows all over again."

Alison wrapped her arms around Jamie's neck. "That's not going to happen. He'll be pleased to see you again, I can guarantee it."

Jamie felt that she really believed every word of what she was saying, but that didn't change the concerns that still weighed on him. What if Alison's dad was right and Matty had grown up all human?

"I'd better go now," he said, then kissed her goodbye again.

So much to do, so little time. If Jamie was going to go see Matty in Glasgow, he had to ensure everything at the office would be fine during his absence.

"He was wrong, you know," Alison called after Jamie. "My dad. I didn't think about it before, but... They took a few children like your brother, then all of a sudden they stopped. If his assumptions were correct, and they'd been able to reeducate those kids, why not keep going?"

Jamie turned back for a moment. She made an excellent point.

"Why indeed. I wish I could have asked him that."

"Yeah." Alison looked down at the floor, pressing her lips together. "Me too."

Jamie smiled at her, and caressed her cheek with the back of his index finger. "Will you be all right here while I'm at work?"

"Yeah. I'll be fine. I was thinking perhaps I'll move some of my things in if you don't mind."

"I don't mind at all. All this stuff-" Jamie gestured in the direction of the living room. "I don't care for it. None of it means anything. Would be nice to have something a bit more personal in here."

"Great." Alison smiled at him. "See you in the evening then."

"I can't wait." With that, Jamie turned the handle and stepped out, ready to tackle whatever would land on his plate today. Although a part of him didn't want to leave her alone, he knew that the time spent apart would make their reunion at night all the sweeter.

Funny, how just a week ago he would have been in a rush to leave in the morning, and would aim to delay his homecoming as much as he possibly could at night. He'd been drifting, waiting endlessly for something to change.

He'd been alone, suffering the loss of his brother as well as the girl who had turned his world upside down so long ago. Now his wounds were well on their way to being mended.

His subconscious had been right: find the girl, and he'd be whole again. He'd found the girl, and before long he'd be reunited with Matty, too.

  About the Author

  Dear Reader,

Thanks for reading Scottish Werebear: A Forbidden Love, Book 3 in the Scottish Werebears Series. Although this is my first published series, I'm not new to writing in general. In fact, my mom still tells me to this day about how I would make up stories, and attempt to record them in my clumsy, shaky handwriting from the moment I learned to read and write. From there I went on to write fan fiction and other stuff meant for my own eyes only.

I've always enjoyed stories of the paranormal. Vampires, shape shifters, witches and magic, all featured in the books I loved the most, even when I was still growing up. But it wasn't until much later that I got into romance. One of the first writers (a self published author just like me!) I came across was Tina Folsom, via her Scanguards Vampire series. I was hooked. From there I went on to read more paranormal romance until I found a new favorite kind of hero: bear shifters, like the kind written by Milly Taiden, Zoe Chant, and T.S. Joyce. What I love about bears is how they can be all strong and independent, a bit reclusive, and almost grumpy, but they always end up having a heart of gold (plus they tend to know their food, and we all know that a man who can cook is doubly sexy). All that (except for the shifting into a powerful bear) almost exactly describes the sort of man I ended up falling for and marrying in real life, so it's no surprise that this is what I started my publishing career with.

As thing stand right now, I plan to release all my work on Amazon Kindle and make it free of charge as part of the Kindle Unlimited programme, though this may change in future. All my books will also be available as paperbacks, as well as in audio.
