No More Yesterdays: A Rock Star Romance (Rocked in Love Book 2)

Jack nodded.
“Good boy. No talking.”
She stroked him a few more times before removing her hand and trailing her fingers under his shirt. She lifted the hem, kissing as she exposed his abs and chest. His skin was warm and tight over his muscled torso. The dusting of hair on his chest tickled her lips. When she licked his nipple, he swayed and then planted his feet wider. “Good boy.”
She rewarded him by unzipping his fly but didn’t free him yet. “Better?”
He whimpered.
She smiled and lifted his shirt over his head and tossed it away. “How ’bout now?” She caressed his biceps, loving the feel of his muscles. Her fingers played over the lines of his Celtic tattoo.
He looked down and back up at her and moaned.
“Too confining?”
He nodded vigorously.
Emily slid her hands between his jeans and underwear, caressing him, and he groaned. She kissed his jaw up to his ear. “Do you want me to fuck you?”
His cock jerked beneath her palm. “Yes.”
“Tsk, tsk, tsk.” Now, she’d have to punish him. She made eye contact and then slowly lowered her gaze down his chest, abs and stomach and rested at his groin. The tip of his dick peeked out from the waistband of his boxer briefs. That must be uncomfortable.
She got off the bed and dropped to her knees, pulling his jeans off as she descended. He stepped out of them. Looking up, she leaned in and licked his cock through his underwear. A bead of fluid emerged from the tip. She wanted to lick it off but not yet. He needed to be punished. She cupped his ass as she continued to lick him through the cotton fabric.
His hips moved forward every time she moved back. “Are you trying to tell me something?” she asked, addressing his dick.
Jack grunted. She smiled and looked up at him. “Pussy got your tongue?” Jack groaned as if in pain. “Oh, right, I forbade you to talk.”
Her body throbbed with need. She was in as bad a shape as he was, but it was too soon to let him know that. She moved to stand, but Jack stopped her with a hand on her shoulder.
“Please,” he whispered. His eyes pleaded with her.
Emily shook her head. “Whispering counts.” She pushed to her feet as her hands slid up the silk baby doll, and she cupped her breasts. Her eyes closed and her lips parted. She let her head fall back as she tweaked her nipples.
Jack grunted and hauled her up, kissing her with a ferocity that startled her. His lips took, and his tongue gave back. He ground his erection into her belly. She was so lost in the passion of his kiss she forgot she’d gotten the reaction she’d been waiting for. She enjoyed his lips and hands for another few seconds before tearing away from him.
She pulled his underwear down, and his cock burst out, nearly hitting her in the face. She opened her mouth and leaned in but didn’t take him between her lips. Instead, she stuck out her tongue until it was a hairsbreadth from the tip of his jutting cock. She swirled her tongue around but didn’t touch.
This time when Jack grunted, he didn’t speak.
“Good boy. Now, lie on the bed and spread your arms. I’m going to strip for you, but you’ve been naughty, so I’ll have to incapacitate you.”
Jack stretched out on the bed, arms spread. Emily knelt on the bed and picked up one of the stockings. “Silk?”
He nodded.
“Nice.” She ran the stocking along his leg, over his cock, and up his chest. He lifted his arm, and she wrapped the silk around his wrist and then around the bedpost, tying the ends. She repeated the process with his other wrist. She sat back and admired the beautiful sight of Jack tied to her bed. “Delicious.”
Jack thrust his hips up.
“Something you want?”
Jack’s lips moved, but he didn’t speak. His eyes scrunched closed. He opened his mouth and bobbed his head up and down.
Emily tapped her chin. “Oh, you want me to take your huge, hard cock in my mouth?”
Jack’s whole body nodded.
She did. She was amazed at her restraint in making him wait so long for what they both wanted. But she wouldn’t let him come. Yet.
She felt his upper body flex as he tried to move his arms. She smiled up at him. “You really can’t keep your hands to yourself.”
His hips thrust up, so she leaned down and took him in her mouth. Emily loved his spicy scent. The saltiness of his skin combined with his unique smell intoxicated her. She almost forgot she wasn’t going to let him come. She still had to strip for him, so she forced herself to sit up and licked her lips. Jack’s arms pulled against the stockings.
She crawled slowly off the bed, giving him a view of her ass. He moaned, and she smiled. She was nearly at her limit of how much teasing she could take before he was inside her. With her back to him, she wiggled and slowly bent over, taking the thong down.
“Oh fuck.”
She barely heard him, but she stood and faced him. “Did you say something?”
He shook his head wildly.
“Hmm. Must’ve been the wind.”
Jack nodded in agreement. His eyes screamed please.
She crossed her arms, and her fingers nudged the straps of silk down her arms. Jack’s eyes widened at her bared breasts, and her nipples tightened. She let the emerald silk fall to the floor.
Jack tugged the stockings, and the ties around the bedpost opened, freeing him. He extended his arms out to her. She sashayed to the side of the bed, grabbed a condom, and crawled onto him, straddling his hips. His fingers dug into the soft curves of her hips.
Tearing the condom open with her teeth, she handed it to him, and he rolled it on. Emily positioned herself and slid onto him. “So good.” Her eyes fluttered closed as she focused on the sensations from their joined bodies.
“Can I talk yet?”
“Uh-huh.”
He sat up and kissed her, his lips warm and moist against hers. “That was incredible. I need to fuck you so badly.”
“I need that too.” She gulped for air.
He flipped their positions so she was under him, and he pulled out and slammed back into her, causing her vision to blur. He brought her legs up, hooking them over his shoulders. “Ready, baby?”
Emily nodded, and he pulled out slowly, allowing her to feel every inch of him. “Ah, yes.”
Slam, pound, thrust, he did it all. She was so close; a few more thrusts, and she’d come. He pulled out and flipped her over. “On your knees. Face on the bed.”
She pulled the pillow down and turned her face to the side. She could barely see him from the corner of her eye. He rubbed his cock between her lips, teasing her clit. “Jaaack.”
“I know, baby. I can’t hold off anymore either.” Grasping her hips, he slammed into her. He pulled out and pushed back in hard, driving her over the edge. She turned her face and screamed as her orgasm broke. With two brutal thrusts, Jack followed, a primal yell escaping his lips.
Jack pulled out, and she collapsed on her side. Seconds later, he was behind her, encircling her in his strong, warm embrace. He kissed the back of her head. “I love you, Em.”
Emily shoved her apprehensions aside about visiting his family; it had to turn out better than last time. There was no way it could turn out worse.

TWENTY-NINE
Jack woke early on Friday and knew as soon as consciousness took hold over him that Emily wasn’t in bed. Last night had been unbelievable. Twice more, they’d reached for each other during the night. Each time he’d felt a little more of her wall crumble.
She no longer waited for him to fall asleep to move away from him. It took a few tries, but she adjusted until she was comfortable, and then he’d settle next to her. Maybe he’d told her he loved her too many times, but he couldn’t help it. He reminded himself daily that even though they’d known each other for eight weeks now, they hadn’t spent eight weeks together.
She’d told him that love crawl
ed up on her, and she’d never fallen like a stone off a mountain. She had a way with words that eased his restlessness. When she’d agreed to go with him to visit his family, a contentment washed over him the likes he’d never experienced. He knew she was doing it for him because she cared. He also felt her tension increasing the closer they got to leaving. He’d do whatever he could to make it easier for her. He’d stick with her, no matter what.
Christie had grown to hate visiting his family. She’d gotten to the point where she’d go but wouldn’t interact with anyone. She had a career to consider, and he was being selfish for taking her away from it. At least that’s what she’d told him during those last awful months before he’d finally had enough.
Jack rolled out of bed and strode to the door, crashing into Emily. They collided with such force she fell backward, but he caught her around the waist. “Don’t worry, baby, I’ve got you. I won’t let you fall.”
She threw her arms around his neck and kissed him. When she pulled back, she whispered, “I know.”
Jack’s heart constricted. “Em…”
“Sorry, had to pee.” She took his hand and walked back into the bedroom. “We don’t have to get up yet.” She turned to him. “Unless you want to.”
“No.” He could barely contain his smile. They wouldn’t have the luxury of waking up together while visiting his family.
Emily snuggled into his side, and Jack wrapped his arm around her. “You asleep?”
“Unh-unh.”
“I have questions, but if you aren’t ready yet…”
Em adjusted so she lay on her back. “I don’t think I’ll ever be ready. I’ve been thinking about it, and this probably isn’t a normal relationship for you either.”
Jack liked that she thought about him. “Yeah, but—”
Em covered his lips with her fingers. “We’ve both had to make adjustments, and we’ll figure out our normal together.”
The sun was still low in the sky, but the soft light that spilled in allowed him to see her beautiful smile. She hadn’t said the words he longed to hear yet, but this was future talk. He thought back to that morning she’d come to his hotel room after breaking it off with him. She’d said she hadn’t come to leave him again, but part of him was scared she would. But she’d been true to her word. Even through uncomfortable family gatherings, a stalker, her ex breaking in, his ex trying to get back in his life, and his career, Em had stood by him. And Jack had never been happier.
“What do you want to know?”
“Anything?”
“Sure. If I’m not ready, we’ll move to a different topic.”
He had many questions, but since they’d made chili yesterday, and she’d told him stuff about her dad, one stuck out. “Tell me about the Boyers.”
Emily relaxed and snuggled back into his side, resting her palm over his heart. “Uncle Griff and Aunt Ellen were my parents’ best friends. We lived next to them on the base in Bridgeport. We were stationed there for the last three years before my dad retired. At the time, that was the longest we’d ever been in one place.”
“You were born in California?”
“At Miramar, near San Diego. We’d moved five times before we were at Bridgeport. Anyway, Uncle Griff and Aunt Ellen have twin daughters, Michelle and Erin, they’re four years younger than me. Riley and I used to babysit them when our parents would go out together. They used to live in Oakdale, too.”
“Where are they now?”
“They moved back to California when the twins decided to go to Washington State University. After everything that happened with my family, Uncle Griff and Aunt Ellen couldn’t stand being so far from their kids.”
“How old were you?”
Emily turned onto her other side, so Jack spooned her. “Twenty-two. I’d just finished my sophomore year of college. Because of the accident, I’d missed my senior year and graduation, so I got my GED, and once all the surgeries were done, I didn’t leave the house much because I was so self-conscious about my leg. Eddie and Sheryl would come every weekend so Eddie could continue as my therapist.” Emily laughed. “Anyway, one day, Eddie and Vince visited without Sheryl. I knew I was in trouble as soon as they got out of the car.”
“Why?”
“They looked…determined. Eddie said it was time to shit or get off the pot and that I needed to stop feeling sorry for myself and return to the land of the living.”
Jack shifted. “After everything you’d been through, that seems kinda harsh.”
“It was what I needed to hear. My aunt and uncle had been saying the same thing, only nicer, and that hadn’t worked. I couldn’t see anything but what I had lost. Eddie has a way with words. He doesn’t suffer fools, and he doesn’t take shit from anyone. He’s also the kindest and most gentle person I’ve ever met. Eddie told me if I didn’t start looking forward instead of backward, my leg and my life would never get any better. Then he said that Sheryl was pregnant, and I needed to be able to play with my little niece or nephew. He also asked Vince and me to be godparents.”
Em had said she’d have never survived without them, and now Jack understood. “I cannot wait to shake their hands.”
“I should probably warn you that they’re planning on vetting you.”
“Vetting me?”
“Yeah, asking you tons of questions that are none of their business, but they think they are.”
Jack smiled. Em obviously loved Eddie and Vince, and they loved her. She may not have any blood relatives, but she definitely had family. “I’m not worried. I’ll answer any questions they have. Why didn’t you go when the Boyers moved?”
“Because I’d worked really hard to build a new life here, and I didn’t want to start over again.”
“They just left you?”
“I’d overheard them talking one night after the twins had gotten accepted. They wanted to move so they could be closer to their girls but knew I’d never go. I couldn’t let them stay here for me. I wasn’t really getting on in college very well anyway, so I just never went back.”
Jack scoffed. “I don’t believe for one second that you didn’t do well in your classes.”
“It wasn’t the classes. I had hard time adjusting to being around so many young people. I felt so much older than everyone else, and everything they thought was so important seemed so silly to me, so I isolated myself. Anyway, I got a job, told them I was moving out, and they should go to California.”
“They didn’t argue?”
“Of course. But they’d sacrificed enough for me, and I was so very grateful for everything they’d done, but I couldn’t let them do this.” Emily sniffled. “After weeks of them trying to convince me to stay in college, Uncle Griff said he could see that I’d made my decision and nothing would change my mind. He said I was just like my dad, and that he’d never won an argument with him either.”
“Do you keep in touch?”
“Yes. They were going to fly in for the wedding. He still travels a lot and stops in to check on me a few times a year.”
Jack would ask Jeff to locate the Boyers. Maybe he’d visit them when the tour took him to the West Coast. “Was your mom an only child, too?”
Emily tensed. “Yes.”
“When did her parents pass?”
When she didn’t answer, Jack thought she’d fallen back to sleep until a hot tear landed on his shoulder. “Em?”
“They didn’t. Can we stop now?”
Anger surged through him. Her grandparents were alive? Why hadn’t they taken her in after the accident? “Of course.”
J
Jack went for a run while Em did yoga. He pounded the pavement until he couldn’t breathe and every muscle in his body ached. It did nothing to squelch the waves of anger that continued to roll through him. As much as he wanted to know every detail, he wouldn’t invade her privacy again. He’d just have to wait until she was ready. By the time Jack returned to her apartment, his tem
per was under control. For now.
They shared a shower, another luxury they wouldn’t have for the next four days.
On the drive to his childhood home, Emily spent most of the way staring out the window. Once they entered Pine Hill, Jack pointed out local attractions: the first bar they’d played, the high school they’d attended, and the best ice cream shop on the planet. She gave him her full attention, asked questions, and smiled.
Jack pulled into the parking lot of the liquor store and parked. “I want to get my dad a case of Seaquench Ale.”
“I thought you were having the liquor delivered tomorrow?”
“I am, but this is for my dad. I got him into it, but he won’t buy it for himself.”
Emily smiled. “You are so damn sweet, Jack McBride.” Emily turned and looked at the huge pot of chili. “I’ll wait here.”
“Okay.” He kissed her quickly and got out before she could say anything about public displays of affection.
When they were only a few blocks from his folks, Jack pointed to the left. “See that white house with the green shutters?”
“Yeah?”
“That’s where it all started twenty-one years ago.”
“What started?”
“My obsession with music.” Jack pulled over and put the truck in park. “My piano teacher, Mrs. Wagner lives there.” Jack smiled fondly. “She was a music teacher in the high school and the organist at St. Al’s.” He turned in his seat. Emily faced him, eyes shining. “When I was eight, my mom was home after having Jimmy. I wanted piano lessons, but my mom wasn’t working, and money was tight. One day, I walked here and knocked on Mrs. Wagner’s door. I said I wanted to take piano lessons but didn’t have any money. Was there anything I could help with in trade for the lessons.”
Emily placed her finger over his lips. “Stop for a second. I’m overwhelmed with how frickin’ cute this story is.” She closed her eyes, still grinning, and took a few deep breaths. “Okay, go.”
