  “Really?”

  “Definitely bells. You know something else?”

  She snuggled up close to him with a happy sigh. “What?”

  “They sounded a lot like wedding bells.”

  She was suddenly afraid to breathe. “Does that frighten you?”

  “Only if you refuse to marry me.”

  With a squeal of delight she flung her arms around his neck. “Oh, Tyler. You are going to make my mother so happy.”

  “Hey, I’m not planning on marrying your—”

  She smothered the rest of his words with a very long, satisfying kiss. There was no longer any need for either of them to say more. Things wouldn’t always be easy for them, she knew that. But as long as she heard bells when he kissed her, she’d face whatever life with Officer Tyler Jackson might bring.
