Tied to a Boss 3

Smiling while still waiting a few moments until Vanessa came on the phone, Dante said, “What’s up, Vanessa?”
“What’s up, big bruh? How’s everything over there?”
“Just getting started, but look . . . I’m glad you let Mya call me . . .”
“I didn’t let her,” Vanessa told Dante interrupting him. “I didn’t even know she had my phone or knew how to use one.”
Shaking his head and smiling, Dante said, “Anyway . . . tell Dre I said to go ahead and release Monica’s sister and brother-in-law but keep an eye on both of them.”
“I’ma tell ’em . . . You need anything else?”
“Naw, but you need to go ahead and buy Mya and D.J. a cell phone. Gimme both their numbers and give ’em both mine and Alinna’s.”
“I’ma take care of that today. Let me call my sister, though, and see what Alinna’s ass is up to.”
“You better call now, because she got a meeting on some business later on.”
“Alright, boy. I love you, Dante.”
“I love you too, Vanessa,” Dante told her, hanging up the phone. He then turned to Monica and asked, “You enjoy staring at me?”
“I’m just surprised to see you smiling,” she told him. “You never smile.”
“You just never seen me smile.”
“So that was your daughter with Angela? Mya, right?”
Caught off guard, Dante looked over at Monica with a surprised expression on his face. He pulled the Benz over to the side of the road, ignoring the car horns from the other drivers behind him. He threw the Benz in park, swung around toward Monica, and inquired, “How the fuck you know about my fucking daughter?”
“Relax, dude!” Monica told him calmly, smiling a small grin. “You’re not the only one that knows how to find out supposed secrets.”
“Talk! Now Monica!”
“You don’t scare me, Dante,” Monica told him, still smiling, but then said, “I know all about you and Angela’s deal and how she got pregnant from you. I even found out that she’s out of the US now. But did you know she was the one that set you up?”
“What do you mean? How the fuck she set me up?”
“Who do you think told me about all the bodies you have, and even about the murder of Captain Ben Whitehead . . . which is why she made captain?”
Quiet as he sat staring out the car window after hearing what Monica had just told him, Dante then asked, “You telling me the truth, Monica?”
“I know your father was murdered and you don’t know where your mother is, and that your father’s friend raised you after he died. I know that Dre’s mother was the one that took you in after your father’s friend died . . .”
“Alright!” Dante said, cutting off Monica. He looked back over at her and said, “I believe you! But why are you telling me this now? Why put me in jail facing a life or death sentence that they were talking about?”
“Why do you think . . . you son of a bitch?” Monica said, suddenly angry now. “You killed my husband!”
Sighing deeply, Dante said, “What if I could prove that Alex was set up?”
“What the hell are you talking about?”
“Your husband was set up, and I can prove it.”
“How?”
“Help me out here, and I’ll prove it to you,” Dante told her as he pulled back out into traffic.
“You still haven’t told me how you plan on proving what you claim was a set-up on Alex,” Monica told him, staring hard at Dante.
“I know where Angela is,” Dante admitted, but then added, “Help me out here, and afterwards I’ll take you with me to find Angela. Then you’ll have your proof.”

Finally reaching a luxury car dealership, only to end up fighting with Monica for five minutes about her wanting to leave and find a used car dealership, Dante just ignored her completely. He ended up selecting a Jaguar F-Type Coupe hardtop convertible.
Dante smirked, noticing that Monica didn’t turn down the keys to the Jaguar when it was pulled around to the front of the dealership. He then said, “Change of heart about not wanting a brand new car?”
“I ain’t no fool, Dante!” Monica told him with a smile as she walked over to the brand-new Jaguar.
“Let’s find you some place to go shopping at,” Dante said, walking toward his Benz.
Leaving the dealership and using his GPS inside the Benz, Dante found a surprisingly big mall with a huge parking lot.
After finding a place to park, Dante climbed from the Benz and saw Monica park two spaces down from him.
“I’m hungry,” Monica told Dante as he walked up on her.
“You just ate breakfast.”
“And I’m still hungry.”
Shaking his head as he followed alongside her, walking through the parking lot, Dante found himself following her into the mall and in search of the food court.

Dante sat with Monica while she was eating two Big Macs from the McDonald’s in the food court. He was drinking an orange soda, when his cell phone vibrated inside his pocket.
Pulling out his phone, Dante saw that he had a text message. He opened it and saw that it was from Natalie. It was the address to the restaurant he was supposed to meet Carmen at for lunch.
Once Monica finally finished eating, she and Dante both left the food court together. Monica had a satisfied smile on her face, which caused Dante to shake his head and smirk.

Two hours later and ten bags a piece, and still checking out more stores, Monica was ready to check out. Dante allowed her to shop, and even bought gifts for both Alinna and Natalie. Just as he was paying for a diamond-faced Movado watch, his phone started vibrating in his pocket again.
“You ready to go?” Monica asked, walking up beside Dante as he was pulling out his cell phone.
“You finished?” Dante asked, seeing Natalie’s number on the screen.
“I’m ready,” Monica told him, waving for Dante to leave the store with her.
“What’s up, beautiful?” Dante said, but then he immediately stopped in his tracks when he heard crying and yelling in the background over his phone. “Natalie! Natalie! What’s up? What’s going on?”
“Dante! Dante! It’s Daddy!” Natalie got out, before she started crying hysterically.
“Natalie . . . talk to me!” Dante yelled, already running toward the exit. “Baby, what’s going on? Talk to me!”
“Dante, what’s going on?” Monica asked, running and trying to keep up with a surprisingly fast Dante.
“I don’t know! Natalie was . . .”
“Dante, this Tony T!” Dante heard.
Stopping in the middle of what he was telling Monica, he said into the phone just as he and Monica shot out the exit door of the mall, “Bruh, what the fuck going on?”
“Dante, man! It’s Dominic. He was set up!”
“Fuck do you mean set up?”
“He was meeting somebody for some business meeting, and once we got there, all we met was a bunch of niggas with guns.”
“Shit!” Dante said as he and Monica stopped at her Jaguar. “What about Dominic?”
“Bruh, he got hit twice. It ain’t looking good,” Tony T explained. “We ain’t sure what’s going on right now. The doctor’s got him.”
“Where the fuck ya’ll at?” Dante asked, completely pissed off.
“We at Phoenix Memorial.”
Hanging up the phone, Dante handed Monica the rest of the bags he was holding as she asked, “What’s it about?”
“Natalie’s father was shot. He’s at Phoenix Memorial, and they not sure if he’ll live,” Dante explained. He then pulled out his left-side Glock from its holster and handed it to Monica. “You gonna need one. Shit about to get real stupid in Phoenix!”
