  She shook him gently and then put her hand over her mouth and giggled like a teenager.

  So much for the man of action. Well, time enough for action later. When they woke they would both be hungry. For food, and for much else beside. She would insist that he make up for this temporary delay.

  She took his phone from the bedside table and reset the alarm from two o'clock to one o'clock. Who knew what pleasures an extra hour might bring? She was willing to wait.

  After a lifetime of not quite knowing what love was all about, the reality of it had been gifted to her in not much more than a day. How many other women in the world could hope for such luck? Now she had to hold onto her prize and make the most use of it. It might not always be easy but it would never be hard, not with the beautiful man lying beside her.

  She curled up beside him and laid her hand on his bare chest. This was the new life she'd always longed for, beginning now in the warm sunshine of a new day. She smiled, and let her eyelids close slowly in sleep.
