In the intervening two weeks, despite the many opportunities he had to impose his will, Thorne didn’t try to resume a sexual relationship with her. No matter what they were discussing or doing, he often captured her gaze with such molten intensity she found herself in a perpetual state of sexual awareness of him. By the end of the third week it felt as though her nipples were permanently beaded, her stomach in constant knots of anticipation, and her clit throbbed insistently when he was near. She was so primed for him that she knew that if she spent another moment alone with him in her apartment that she would be jumping him. And the bastard knew it too.
His ability to pick up on her unspoken emotions meant that he was aware of her inner struggles. He didn’t try to hide how much he wanted her either.
The awareness and knowledge that he wanted her just as much as she wanted him didn’t help her efforts to resist him.
“I want to go to the basketball game tonight,” Saina told him as they walked back to her apartment after she’d finished her shift at the hospital, weeks following her move to the new apartment.
Thorne carried her backpack over his shoulder, and he gripped her hand in the other. He walked quietly beside her and didn’t respond to her statement.
She sighed and bravely said the words that she didn’t want to say. “So, if you’re not interested in going, I understand. I can go with Juliet and her friends.”
He squeezed her hand but didn’t comment.
Saina tried to pull her hand from his, but his grip tightened without hurting her. She glared up at him, his tall frame forcing her to crane her neck back to show her displeasure.
As they entered the apartment, he threw her backpack on an armchair while retaining a hold of her hand.
“Thorne, let—”
Snaking an arm around her waist, he pulled her flush against him and bent his head to hold her gaze. “We will go to your basketball game, but I’m not going to pretend that I wouldn’t rather spend that time alone with you.” Molten need blazed in his ocean blue gaze.
“We are only prolonging the inevitable,” she muttered.
“I agree,” he grunted. “Let’s go to bed and stop this.”
“I’m not talking about that.”
“No?”
“No.” She tried to pull away from him again, but he hugged her closer to him. “Why are you here?” she asked him impatiently. “I know you’ll go back to her.”
“What the hell?” He frowned down at her. “What are you talking about?”
She ignored his fierce frown and persisted. “I want an understanding on what this relationship is supposed to be, Thorne. Why are you here?”
Thorne clutched her harder against him. “I’m here because I need you and you need me.”
She gave a sharp bark of laughter. “I call bullshit on that one.”
“Saina, if I walk out of your life right now, are you telling me that your heart won’t be ripped from your body?” He held her gaze without backing down. “I need you and can’t be the leader I have to be without you in my life, sweetheart.”
Saina snorted. “You’ve been ruling for over eighteen years without me. Besides, you’ve made your choice and have your queen,” she told him bitterly. She was shocked to feel her eyes moisten with tears. Why the hell am I so emotional about this?
“Anastasia was never by choice,” he told her through clenched teeth. “You were my chosen bride, always have been, always will be.” He gazed down at her intently, trying to get her to listen to him.
“First of all, I was a baby and couldn’t have been anyone’s ‘chosen one.’”
He frowned down at her in exasperation.
She smirked, knowing that he didn’t have an argument for that.
“Despite the circumstances, I never reneged on my responsibility to that commitment. Being with you now has shown me what has been missing in my life.” He lowered his voice to barely above a whisper. “I’m not giving you up for any reason. This is the relationship I want, and I damn sure know you want me too.”
“And what is this relationship? Am I your mistress, your friend, your on-again, off-again lover? What would you call this relationship?” she asked mockingly.
“Don’t you dear try to cheapen what we have.”
“What the fuck do we have, besides occasional great sex?”
“We’re life mates.”
“You mean like werewolf, shewolf mates?”
“I mean inseparable-for-life mates.”
“I don’t understand, Thorne. Are you sure you’re not just thinking with your cock? Is this you trying to say whatever is necessary to get me to sleep with you again?”
His arm tightened around her waist, and he lifted her off her feet. “You’re not going to diminish what’s between us or question my integrity. I could make love to you any time I want, and you know it.”
“You wish!” Saina hissed. She tried to pull away from him, but he was incredibly stronger than her.
“I bet I could touch you now and you’d be fucking wet for me,” he smirked.
“Bastard!”
“Can you deny it?” Thorne bent his head and pressed his forehead against hers.
There was no humor in his gaze now. His take-no-shit demeanor bolstered his argument as nothing else would and fueled her lust. She throbbed to feel him inside her again.
“I’m in an impossible situation here, Saina. Would you respect me if I said fuck it, killed Anastasia, and took you home as my wife? Would the deaths of my mother and my sisters make you happy? Would the deaths of the thousands of people who will die because of it make you happy?”
Saina couldn’t prevent the tears from pooling in her eyes. He was right, and she knew that she was being unfair to him, but he was also being unfair to her. “I know you had to make a difficult decision and have had to live with that decision to your detriment; hell, to my detriment as well. I’m not asking you to do any of those things. I need to understand what this is between us.”
“This…” He kissed her lips softly.
She returned his kiss with helpless desperation.
He lifted his head slowly a few moments later.
She gazed up at him, slightly dazed by the blazing emotions between them.
“This is me loving you.” He peppered her face with tender kisses, her cheeks, the tip of her nose, her chin, her forehead. “And this is you loving me.” He fused their lips again. Only when she slumped weakly against him did he end the kiss. He held her head against his chest. “No matter what happens from here on out, we’ll be together,” he told her in a determined voice. “Nothing else matters. No one else matters.”
She remained quiet in his embrace, too stunned and too incredibly happy to offer the objection she knew she needed to.
He lifted her higher and swept her off her feet with easy strength.
She gasped.
He captured her lips before she could utter any protest.
She didn’t even try to fight him. That was alright because she was all out of fight anyway. The chemistry between them was explosive, and she was long past denying what she wanted. The need that she’d tried to deny for weeks was jeering her, and she wasn’t going to pretend she didn’t want this any longer. Winding her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist, she held him against her and returned his kiss with all the pent-up need and love that had been simmering in her the past few weeks.
He turned and pressed her against the nearest wall, grinding his hips against hers.
She rolled her hips in frantic agitation, wanting him inside her with growing desperation. She moaned lustily as his hard length pressed insistently against her pulsing clit.
He reached under her skirt and pushed her damp panty aside.
“Yes!” she hissed loudly at the first touch of the rough skin of his finger against the sensitive flesh of her hard bud. She increased the movement of her hips, wanting that digit in her.

bsp; Releasing her lips and trailing kisses along her cheek and then to her ear, he slipped one finger into her heat and pressed down on her clit with his thumb.
She whimpered, wanting more and getting agitated by the gentle thrusts of his finger into her.
He added a second digit. The wet sound of her juices coating his fingers and her passionate cries filled the room.
“I love you, baby,” he whispered huskily.
With her limbs trembling and tears leaking down her cheeks, Saina tightly clutched him against her, pulsing with blistering need. “Thorne.” She called out his name repeatedly in helpless whimpers.
“I can feel how much you want me.”
The sexy gravel in his voice reached deep within her and further ratcheted up her lust.
“I can feel what weeps for only me, princess.” He thrust his fingers shallowly into her sleek opening and teased her clit.
She trembled harder. “Thorne, I can’t …”
He slid his finger deeper inside her.
She tightened her thighs, trying to hold him in that sweet spot he kept hitting over and over again. She both fought and reached for the intense orgasm that was building up in her.
He used his knees to force her legs farther apart. “Don’t even think to deny me,” he growled, holding her gaze with his in a determined stare. “Every inch of you throbs for me.” He swooped down and captured her lips in a hard dominant kiss. He abruptly released her lips.
She hissed in protest.
Lifting her higher in his arms, he bit her hard nipple through the material of her blouse and bra, biting gently first one nipple and then the other. His sheer strength and aggressive actions made her cream harder.
Pulling the soft shell of her earlobe between his teeth, he kept up the sensual assault on her clit and into her heat. He suddenly pulled his fingers from her, but before she could protest, something harder, bigger, longer hit her G-spot dead-on.
“Oh God!” she cried out as she shattered against him in a blistering orgasm.
As he held her securely against the wall with brute strength, his harsh breath filled her ear as he pumped into her sleek sheath repeatedly.
She was stunned as another obliterating climax rolled through her.
Wanting to wreck him as he had so effortlessly wrecked her twice, she wrapped her thighs higher around his waist, tightened her hold, and slammed her ass down on his hard cock, riding him with relentless sensuality. She grinned with triumph when he roared with an explosive release.
Saina held him tight against her as he collapsed, forcing her back hard into the wall.
“I hope you’re not dead set on attending that basketball game tonight,” he mumbled a few moments later.
She laughed with a shaky breath. “There doesn’t seem much point now.”
Chapter Nine
Thorne carefully picked his way through the rubble of school buildings that had been targeted for a terrorist attack. The people on Earth thought they had a monopoly on tragedy, but this was the third bombing this month on Parth. They had hit Europon first, destroying an office building that housed over a thousand people. The death toll had been in the hundreds. They next hit Garmede. The destruction there was not as deadly because, though the killers had come into the busy mall lasers blazing, security had been tight. With the exception of a few soldiers of Garmede, only the terrorist had been killed. Today the attack had come to Calison.
“There’s a special place in hell for killers of children,” Thorne muttered as he looked at the scene before him. Every doctor in the city was on the scene, and still it wasn’t enough. He fought to maintain control at the sight of the little bodies before him. There were hundreds of children lying on the ground stretching for over a mile, all under the age of ten years old, who were either dead or dismembered with life-threatening injuries. Even with all the wars he’d fought and witnessed, this devastation was the worst he’d ever seen.
They worked late into the day and night, trying to save as many of the children as they could. Thorne knew that Saina would be pissed at not being there to help, and there was nothing he’d wanted more than to have her be there beside him. If ever he brought her here, he probably would never let her leave. It got harder and harder every day to leave her, especially now that they’d been together for over four months. He made certain that he was there every night to hold her. There was no place he’d rather be than with her.
Teasing him mercilessly for being so serious all the time, Saina seemed to be happiest when she made him laugh and lose the face of a man who was under constant pressure and responsibility. She loved movies and was shocked when she realized that he’d rarely watched television or movies. There was no such thing on Parth. The past four months she’d made him fill in the gap in his life’s experiences. He had laughed for days after at the absurdity of Jim Carrey’s When Nature Calls. Then there were all the action films, the thrillers, the dramas, and he was hooked. She loved doing that to him.
He couldn’t even think about the things she did to him in their bed without getting as hard as granite. Over the past few months she’d been determined to go through every position in the Kama Sutra. It wasn’t just the sex in their bedroom either. She could always sense when he was troubled about something and had problems sleeping and immediately tried to soothe him. She had the voice of an angel and would sing to him. He loved it. Her ingenuity and persistence kept him more than eager to return to her side.
He was still reeling to realize that a place like Disney World actually existed. Maybe Earth isn’t as primitive as I’d first thought. The only thing he regretted about that experience was seeing all the happy families, the children. He couldn’t help yearning for children and an ordinary family life with Saina. In their current situation he knew they would never have that. The thought of having children with Saina now consumed him, and he couldn’t stop wanting to see her swollen with his baby. They’d done nothing to prevent a pregnancy, and if his suspicions were accurate, she was already expecting their first child. That’s not fair to her, but I can’t help being happy about it. Maybe I’m embracing this double life too fucking easily. Ever since that visit to Disney World two months ago, he’d never wanted anything more.
The carnage before him now had him rethinking his selfishness. I will do whatever it takes to keep them safe. His heart ached for the mothers and fathers having to experience this loss. Given the demands on him now, he had to forget about his life on Earth and probably wasn’t likely to see Saina for another week. Once he was finished here, he would get a few of his trusted men and go hunting. There wasn’t a place on Parth that, with his intel, he wouldn’t be able to track down who had done this. This had to be the work of the king of Lokede. There was no way Anastasia had the resources to do something like this; he’d made sure of it years ago.
Ten days later, Thorne had indeed tracked down the men responsible for the attack on the elementary school in Calison, and he wasn’t happy. The men were not from Lokede as he’d anticipated. Yes, they’d been found in Lokede, but they turned out to be former soldiers of Calison. There had to be over a dozen of them in a compound on the outskirts of Lokede was their initial assessment.
“Sir, I don’t like this,” Gunner, one of his elite guards, said cautiously.
“I agree, but I’m going after these fuckers anyway,” Thorne said coldly.
“Sir, at least let us get more men. We’re significantly outnumbered.”
Thorne looked at the three men who were with him and knew they were among the best of his men. Bravery and skill were not in doubt when it came to them.
“It’s not the odds that interest me. That building is laced with an uncommon amount of lead.” Thorne laughed without humor. “Obviously, they have been reading that old wives’ tale about lead affecting my ability to teleport.” Although most people in Calison knew that the male members of his family were able to teleport, Thorne had never talked openly about that capabilit
y. It was a widely known secret but unspoken of.
“All the more reason for us to be cautious,” Gunner insisted.
They all sat in one of the armored aircraft that every inhabitant on Parth used for transportation. However, this aircraft was unlike the others in that it had a shield against missile attacks, could hover undetected from view of the naked eye, and was heavily equipped with weapons for defense and destruction.
“I could just blow the whole damn building up, but what’s the fun in that?” Thorne told them in an almost bored voice. However, he was far from bored; he wanted answers and justice. “I want to know why these fuckers did this in the first place,” he went on. “In blowing up the building, these assholes would be dead, thus defeating the purpose of my teaching them a damn lesson.”
“It won’t help if we’re dead as well,” Gunner muttered. “These guys are hardcore psychopaths. You’re delusional if you think these fuckers have lost a second of sleep over what they’ve done.”
“These bastards need to die for what they did.” Andre, the third member of their team and Thorne’s trusted head of security, spoke up for the first time. “I don’t know why they did it, nor do I give a shit why. They need to be put down like the animals they are.”
“Gunner, check for electronics in the building,” Thorne instructed. “We’re landing, and I want eyes and ears in that building. If they have transmitters, statcoms, computers, anything, access it.” Statcoms were utilized as communicators like cell phones; however, they were worn on the user’s wrist and had significantly more enhanced technology than an Earth phone. The statcom also had the capability to communicate with any other realm or Earth phone for that matter. It was an extremely sophisticated communication device.
In less than ten minutes, Gunner was able to hack into the statcoms and was able to get a detailed location of all eighteen men in the building, see into the surrounding area to wherever a statcom was located, and listen in on their conversations.
“We know from a reliable source in the palace that he’s searching for us.” One of the men was speaking into his communicator.
