Chasing Destiny (Silver Tip Pack Book 2)

He bucked into me, and I moaned, resting my head on his shoulder as he rolled his hips into mine. “Your smell,” he rasped into my ear. “This perfect, tight ass. Fuck, Bay.”
With my hands on the trunk, I tried to push back into him. “Yeah, that’s the idea. Fuck Bay.”
“I’ve never forgotten how you look at me. Me, and no one else.” His voice was hard, demanding. This was the Nash I hadn’t thought he could be. “Everyone always wanted you, but you didn’t look at them the way you looked at me. Around me you go boneless, your eyes plead. No one ever gets the upper hand with Bay, do they?”
I shook my head, and his hand slid up my throat to plunge two fingers into my mouth. I sucked on them immediately, relishing the salty, earthy taste of Nash.
“But I do,” he said softly. “With me, you submit. You’ve always submitted.”
I swallowed, my dick hanging heavy between my legs, my hole spasming at his words and those digits in my mouth. I could only nod as his hand worked between us.
Something hot pressed against my hole, and I moaned around his fingers, pressing back into him, trying to get that hard dick inside of me as fast as possible. He shoved his fingers in further and I gagged.
He ran the head of his dick up and down my ass, passing over my hole and teasing the rim but never pressing inside. I keened and whined, trying to push back into him, but I had no leverage as he had me shoved against the tree.
“Fuck, if you could see yourself,” he murmured in my ear. “Sucking for all you’re worth, begging for my dick, for me to fill you up. You need me in your hole, don’t you? You need my come more than your next breath.”
I was out of my mind, my thoughts a jumble of need and desire. My body was on fire, Nash’s words and touch lighting me up in a way I’d never felt in my life. I truly thought for a minute that if he didn’t enter me soon, I’d burn up into ash.
He pulled his fingers out of my mouth and gripped my chin, forcing my head back. Showing my throat like this, even to a pack member, was not something I did. “Beg me,” he said, his hips churning uncontrollably against me in a way that told me he was as out of his mind as I was.
“Please Nash.” I could barely speak with my neck at this angle, so my words came out a garbled whisper. “Claim me.”
He bit down on my shoulder as he slammed into me, filling me so full that my vision went white for a second. I’d fucked and been fucked before, but never by Nash. Never had a cock filled me this good, this full, this perfect, and when Nash began to pump his hips, I didn’t know how I stayed standing.
Flesh smacked flesh, the sound so loud in my ears, I was sure everyone alive in the world heard it. He nailed my prostate with precision, over and over again, his hand still wrapped around my throat, his teeth latched in my shoulder.
He didn’t let up, not when I came on a shout all over the trunk in front of me, not when my legs buckled and he had to lash an arm around my waist to keep me standing, not when I chanted his name in a hoarse whisper.
When he finally exploded inside of me, he did so with my name like a prayer in my ear, with his arms wrapping around me in an embrace. We slid to the ground, where I let my face rest on the trunk’s bark, needing the sharp bite of pain to bring me back to reality.
Behind me, Nash hadn’t pulled out of my body, and the combination of his come and my slick was sliding down my thighs. Nash’s form grew heavier against mine, and I looked over my shoulder to see his eyes closing. I managed to pull away from him and turned in his arms, pushing on his shoulders until he lay on his back on the soft moss. His eyes were half-closed, his limbs like dead weights. “Bay,” he said again, and I wondered how many times he’d said my name like that to himself over the years. Or maybe he hadn’t let himself, and that was why he said it now.
Without a word, I began to clean him. He’d never given me free reign over his body, but he was now, so I nuzzled his balls, lapping at them with the flat of my tongue. I cleaned his shaft, admiring the thickness and length. He had several scars on his torso. Some looked incidental, and others looked purposeful, like a jagged one along his ribs. I kissed those, and licked them, wishing my saliva could make the memories of the pain vanish.
He cupped my cheek as I continued to explore, his thumb lightly caressing the corner of my mouth. When I reached his nipples, he moaned as I swirled my tongue over the stiff peaks.
He was hardening again, the head of his cock leaking with pre-come that slicked my stomach as I moved over him. Fuck, he tasted good. Better than I remembered, better than I’d built up in my head over all these years.
I could spend forever feasting on him, and now that I’d had him, I wouldn’t let him go without a knock-down, drag-out fight. I slipped down his body, and nudged his cock with my nose.
He sucked in a breath and looked down his chest at where I nuzzled into his crotch. “No more fighting,” I said. “You’re mine. You’ve always been, just like I’ve always been yours.” I closed my lips around the tip of his cock, sucked hard, then pulled off and lapped at the underside.
“Who says this is your decision to make?” His words weren’t framed as a question, but as a challenge.
I held the base of his cock and tilted my head to the side, then ran my lips up and down the side of his shaft, soaking it with my saliva as it jerked in my hand. I slapped it against my tongue, the sound echoing around us. “Your decision was stupid, so I made it for you.” He shook his head, but he was smiling, squirming under me as I let my lips rest on his tip while I talked. “This is yours. Me in your bed. My smart mouth, my round ass, it’s all yours, Nash. You think I haven’t had mate offers? I turned them all down because I was waiting on you.”
“You shouldn’t have—”
“Don’t start that again. This is my life.”
We faced off, nostrils flaring, before I’d had enough and wrapped my lips around his cock and swallowed him down. He cried out. His legs twitched and his hips bucked as I worked him over with my fist and lips and tongue. I had to show him how good this could be, what he could have every day, and that we were made for each other.
He didn’t last long, and with a stutter of his hips, he came on a groan in my mouth. I drank him down, all of it, and when he was done, I licked him clean.
I rose above him, breathing hard, my own cock ready to blow again. I straddled him and his hands dug into my thighs, his heavy-lidded gaze on my cock as I stroked it over him.
I tilted my head back to feel the moonlight on my face. My hips undulated with the pumping of my fist. Nash’s hands pulsed rhythmically on my thighs, and he didn’t take his eyes off me.
I came all over his stomach, chest, chin, and when I was finished, I collapsed onto him. He held me tight, his breath whuffing below my ear as I nuzzled into his neck. I gripped him with my thighs, my arms, like if I let up, he’d float away. Our scents were overwhelming, surrounding us in a haze of sex and desire.
Nash was it for me, there was no going back after this. Tears pricked my eyes, and it’d been so long since I cried that for a couple of seconds, I panicked. I tightened my hold on Nash, and he didn’t protest, his calming breaths soothing in my ear.
“My fear,” Nash said, “is that you want the Nash you thought I would be. And I’m not him.”
I lifted my head and rolled to the side, ignoring the wetness between us. I wanted to face him for this conversation. “How do you know what Nash I thought you’d be?”
“You didn’t know I’d be this way.”
“No, but that doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate you for what you’ve become. You’ve been through hell and back, from what you’ve told me. Yet you’re still here. You saved my brother! You saved me. If Dare hadn’t made it back, Gage would have killed me.” I ran a series of kisses down his jaw. “Don’t you see? You’re the same Nash, but shaped by what you’ve been through. Like we all are. That doesn’t make me want you any less. I’m not in love with an idealized version of you. I’m in love with the Were you are now.
” I lifted a hand to feel where he’d bitten me, and disappointment streaked through me when I didn’t feel broken skin.
His eyes followed my movements, and his face softened. He grabbed my hand and pressed a kiss the palm. “I will,” he promised, knowing that I wanted to feel those teeth sinking in my skin. “I will claim you, if you claim me back.”
“You know I will. And when we get back, don’t bother asking Dare for an apartment. You’re in mine.”
A smile spread over his face, transforming it. My heart beat double time in my chest. “Making our decisions again?”
“Yep.” I snuggled in under his chin and yawned. “And now I’m deciding that we’re sleeping.”
“You sleep. I’ll stay up and keep watch.”
My mind was already drifting away. “You sure?”
“Yeah, sleep, Bay.”
“Okay,” I mumbled, and like that, I was out.
Chapter Nine
“Bay.” A voice filtered through my dream, one in which I’d been galloping happily in my werewolf form through a mile-long field of ruebane.
I groaned and covered my face with my arm. “Sleep.”
“Come on.” Something tugged my arm, and I opened my eyes to see Nash peering down at me. He didn’t let me speak, his head immediately dropping and his lips touching mine. There was nothing urgent about his kiss, just a lazy lick into my mouth as I lay passively beneath him. The memories of last night heated my skin, and I wondered if we had to time to do a repeat before we had to meet up with the rest of the pack.
Nash pulled back and brushed my cheekbone with light fingertips. Last night he’d owned me, and this morning his eyes held nothing but adoration.
“You gave in. I knew I’d wear on you.”
He huffed a laugh and shook his head, but never took his eyes off mine. “You’re persistent.”
“With you, I am. I don’t work this hard for things on a regular basis.”
“You should save your energy.”
I didn’t like the wariness creeping back into his eyes, a gray cloud that hid him from me. “Hey, come back.”
“I’m right here.”
“No, you do that thing, where your mind drifts and your expression blanks out.”
He flinched, and I hated that something I’d said had hurt him. “Nash—”
“We should wash up.” He stood and brushed himself off.
I leaned up on my elbows. “Why?”
“Because we smell strongly. Of each other.”
“And that’s bad why?”
His nostrils flared. “Bay, we should wash up and apply ruebane. The last thing I want to do is attract Noweres. Quit being stubborn.”
I jumped to my feet, matching his annoyance with my own. “I’m not being stubborn. I can feel you pulling back already. I’ll wash up because it’s the smart thing to do, but don’t act like you just want to be clean. You want me cleansed from your skin so bad, just say so.” I stomped toward the bank.
“Bay—”
“Don’t Bay me.”
He grabbed my wrist and tugged me around so I smashed into his chest. He wrapped his arms around me, caging me against him, and I didn’t bother to fight. He felt too good.
He shoved his face in my neck and inhaled deeply. I closed my eyes and slipped my fingers into his hair, sifting through the strands.
“I’m sorry.” A lap of his tongue followed his words. “This is an adjustment for me—to not only be alive, but to be with you.” His hands drifted down and gripped my hips possessively.
“I’ll try to be more understanding and less reactionary, but I’m not a saint. I’m wrapped up in this emotionally too.”
“I know,” he said, his voice dripping with a melancholy that chilled me.
We separated and wordlessly washed in the river, then reapplied ruebane. Nash helped me where I couldn’t reach, his large hands massaging my back, taking more care than was necessary to rub the oil on my skin. I didn’t complain.
We joined the group a few minutes later just as they were waking up. Despite our attempts to be clean, Pace eyed us suspiciously. Concern flitted over his face, before he covered it quickly and turned away.
I brushed it off. Pace had been growing more irritable with each passing day. Maybe he was nervous, or maybe Vaughn was on his last nerve. Either way, I tried not to take it personally.
After a quick breakfast, we pushed on. The terrain was becoming a bit more familiar now. While I didn’t travel outside the walls often as I wasn’t a scout, I knew enough about the surrounding area that I recognized where we were. The nearby Arbor River was the Silver Tip’s main water source—it ran right outside our walls.
One more day of hiking and one more night under the stars, then we’d be home. I hadn’t pressed Nash on his past, because I hoped once we were around the pack, he’d be more comfortable. For now, I’d let him tell me what he wanted. Still, I hated the permanent furrow in his brow, the way he rubbed his neck and winced. Sometimes I’d catch him staring in the opposite direction of home. When I questioned him, he’d say he saw a bird or a squirrel.
I didn’t believe him.
Something was drawing him away from me, and it seemed like the closer we got to home, the more he pulled away.
It didn’t help that Vaughn and Pace still bickered, that even Baron seemed tired and irritated. Being on constant guard for Noweres, even while wearing ruebane, was exhausting.
We’d split up for our dinner. Every shifter for himself as we combed the area for food. Most large game had been killed by the Nowere packs decades ago, although there were still some deer and bears. Small game, though, were too quick for Noweres. Squirrels climbed trees and chattered at the Noweres from above, while other animals burrowed underground.
I was on the hunt, but this one goddamn rabbit kept eluding me. With fast, furry feet, it darted among some bushes. I pounded after it on four paws, my tongue lolling out of my mouth with exertion. We didn’t hunt much back at the Silver Tip compound. It’d been important to my mother—and Dare—that we didn’t have to go beyond the walls to feed ourselves. We had a few trained hunters in the pack, but I wasn’t one of them.
Fighting? Yeah, I could do that. Catching a fucking cottontail? I was pathetic.
Up head, the rabbit darted out of the bush, and I pushed off on my back legs for an extra burst of speed. If the damn thing didn’t dart away, I might have a chance…
A squeal rent the air, and I skidded to a halt in front of Nash, who now held a lifeless rabbit in his jaws.
I blinked at him and sat down on my haunches, narrowing my eyes and huffing. I swore Nash grinned around the meal in his mouth.
I licked my lips, the scent of the rabbit’s blood making my mouth water. It was only one rabbit, not much for two Weres, but, damn, I was hungry. I lowered my head and whined as I inched toward Nash.
He stepped aside to reveal two more dead rabbits at his feet. We didn’t bother to wait. In our wolf forms, we could digest the raw meat, so we dug in, tearing into the soft brown fur to get to the tough muscle inside.
When we were finished, we curled up next to each other, letting our stomachs work on the meat. The sun was just dipping below the horizon when I shifted back to my human form. I stretched and turned to face a still-wolf Nash. “Thanks for the dinner.”
Nash’s wolf was gorgeous, a tawny brown with dark brown paws. His silver stripe blended into his fur, less stark than mine or Dare’s. Nash’s nostrils flared and he extended his neck to lick at my face and whuff into my neck. I slipped my hands into his course coat, and rubbed his ears. “I had no idea you could hunt so well.”
He shifted, and we lay on the ground naked, my hand still in his hair. In the setting sun, his features looked less harsh. When I’d first seen him in that hut, he’d been withered and pale. Eating well and spending time with Vaughn, Dal, and me was the foundation he needed to thrive. He carried more bulk on his frame, and his skin was turning sun-kissed. I’d never get tired of watching
him live.
“I was forced to learn when I was on my own, or I wouldn’t eat at all,” was all he said as he pressed himself against me, his hard dick brushing along mine. This was how I was learning about where he’d been, brief information drops that I saved into a file in my mind.
The day had been full of snatches of time where we came together, quick kisses while we walked behind the others. Nash was still not comfortable with displays of affection in front of the group, and while that wasn’t natural for me, I respected him. We’d be at the compound tomorrow though, and I wondered how he’d react then.
I could hear the quiet murmurs of the group a short distance away, as well as the crackle of a fire. They were safe and eating, so Nash and I could relax together, covered in ruebane and our bellies full.
Despite his earlier mood, he rolled toward me, craving physical contact, and I welcomed it. His whuffing into my neck turned to laps of his tongue, then his soft nibbles turned into bites. He rolled me onto my back, and settled his weight over me. His skin on me sent my body into heated overdrive. I craved the contact, the feel of his hands touching me, the owning way he bit down into my flesh.
I wasn’t sure there was a time I hadn’t belonged to Nash. And there wouldn’t be until the day I died.
“Fuck me,” I moaned. He wasn’t giving me all of what was in his head, but last night he’d given me what he could. I was greedy and wanted it again. If we’d been behind secure walls, I would have kept him in my bed for days. This wasn’t enough, the moments between walking miles. I wanted him all the time. We weren’t True Mates, not like Dare and Reese. But we were meant to be mates. I knew it, and Nash knew it too.
He shook his head in response to my request and tugged me on top of him. He settled his head on a patch of moss and spread his legs. “You fuck me.”
My cock jumped at his words, and I tackled his mouth on a groan. I rubbed my cock up and down his crack, coating it with his slick. Nash’s hips rolled, and he fucked my mouth with his tongue as his blunt nails dug into my back. This would be the first time I’d be inside him, and lust raged through my blood like wildfire, turning into a powerful force that had me clamping down on his shoulder with my teeth, close to breaking skin.
