Operation: Endgame

Cassie turned to Jake and he wrapped his arms around her waist. “What is it?” Her stomach went to fluttering. With everything going on, they hadn’t yet discussed Jake’s return to Arizona, but she knew it loomed on the horizon for both of them.
“After we thought Chris died, I lost my passion. I’ve always been completely devoted to the PJ’s, but when I couldn’t even save my best friend, I lost that. I couldn’t commit to the mission anymore. Before I left, my commander told me to take this time at home to decide whether or not I really want to continue with the PJ’s or not.” As he spoke, he’d been staring off into the snow.
Now he refocused on her. “Since being here, I’ve found my passion again, but it has nothing to do with the military. This is where my home truly is, where my heart truly resides. My passion is you, Cass. I love you. I don’t see the PJ’s as my future anymore. I want my future to be with you.” He dropped to one knee and Cassie felt her eyes well with tears. He reached into his pocket and withdrew a tiny box. As he opened it, a gorgeous solitaire engagement ring, sparkled in the reflection of the Christmas lights surrounding them. “Cass, I don’t know what I’m going to do for the rest of my life, but I know I want to do it here with you. You’ve always been the one for me. My best friend. My other half. My passion. Will you marry me?”
She reached down to pull him up to her, “Yes. Oh my God, yes! I love you, Jake. Now and forever.”

AUTHOR’S NOTE
Texas Tech University is a real school and Lubbock, TX is a real town. In fact, that’s where I graduated from college and have amazing memories from there. As a result, when I sat down to write my first book, I wanted to pay homage to that school and town I love so much.
I probably wasn’t thinking that through when I decided to create all the murder and mayhem of this trilogy in that locale. Don’t let the events in these books influence your perception of either the school or the town. While the places are real, the events absolutely are NOT.
I took great liberties in the layout of the campus, the kinds of activities the University would allow, how campus professors act, Lubbock PD, and some of the surrounding businesses. Please don’t hold it against them or me! But really, wouldn’t it be cool if there really was an escape tunnel under Memorial Circle?
This is a work of fiction and should be looked at in that light.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
As an avid reader my entire life, I’ve always dreamed of writing books that brought to others the kind of joy I feel when I read.
But…I never did anything about it besides jot down a few ideas and sparse scenes.
When I turned 41, I decided it was time to go after my dream and started writing. Within four months, I’d written over 150,000 words and haven’t stopped since. I’ve found my passion by writing about sexy, alpha heroes and smart, tough heroines falling in love and finding their passion. I’m truly living the dream and loving every minute of it.
My tagline is…
Passion and adventure on the road to Happily Ever After. I have to admit, I am loving this adventure!
